i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME The moon shone through the small make-believe window onto Evan's blank face, illuminating the large purple bags beneath his eyes. This was probably the fourth night in a row where he had not slept; but what was more worrying was for the exact reason why he was not sleeping. His silvery-grey sheets were pulled halfway up his chest and his arms were lying dead by his side, his eyes staring emotionlessly into the wood above him in his four poster bed.
The cogs in his mind were starting to wind-down after what had been a very nonchalant and boring day. The same thoughts going in and out of his head with no way to control the outcome.
Vienne Zabini was starting to play on Evan's mind more than he liked to admit. It was hardly love - but there was still something about the way she moved so fluidly and with such grace that made Evan lie awake night after night, unable to get her out of his head.
Almost like clockwork, Evan rolled over onto his side and stared at the small clock on his bedside table. Four in the morning; wonderful. With an exasperated sigh, Evan pulled back the sheets and sat on the side of his bed, resting his chin on his folded hands. Well, seeing as it was this late already, the common room was bound to be empty.
Evan slipped on his green silk robe and gently pressed open the door to the Boys Dormitory, closing it softly behind him. The last thing he wanted was company; especially of the dungbrains he had to share a room with.
The fire was already lit in the Slytherin Common Room, which automatically made Evan a bit suspiscious. There were no shadowy figures to be seen; but that didn't mean that people weren't walking around the common room. Slowly, but surely, Evan crept over to one of the armchairs by the fire, only to see that there was someone already sitting in the chair.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - It had not taken long for the students of Hogwarts to settle back into the castle for the year. Only a few weeks of the term had gone by, and already the students were quite comfortable in the same routines they had occupied before the summer holidays. Bellatrix Black was no exception to that rule. It was four in the morning, and like most nights, she wasn’t in bed asleep, but sitting in the common room, wide awake.
It wasn’t as if she couldn’t sleep. It was more the fact that four in the morning was the perfect time to be alone. No distractions, no loud giggling first years, no sudden fights breaking out. Nothing but silence. She paused, reading back over the words on the parchment in front of her. The letter she was in the process of writing was covered in crossings outs, scribbles and other indications of her indecisiveness.
She sighed, moving the parchment onto the table in front of her and throwing her quill down on top of it. Another attempt at writing a letter to her parents had failed miserably. But how did she tell her parents she didn’t want to get married? It was only three days ago that Bellatrix had received the letter from her Father requesting that she marry in the next twelve months. She had thought of nothing else since.
Bellatrix was so deep in her thoughts, she barely noticed another figure approaching until they were less than three feet away. She stood quickly, her wand clutched tightly in her hand. Yes, even when in her own common room, the seventeen year old kept her wand on her at all times. Slytherins could be quite sly, it wasn’t uncommon to have to suddenly defend yourself when an argument got too heated.
She pulled her left arm behind her back quickly and she turned to face the figure. She wasn’t wearing sleeves, and her pale skin combined with the glow of the dying fire made her Dark Mark stand out more than ever. However, when Bellatrix saw who she was facing, she let her arm fall freely. It wasn’t as if Evan Rosier was clueless about her extra-curricular activities.
“Rosier,” she greeted him, her tone rather cold. “Tell me you know better than to sneak up on a fellow Death Eater?”

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan's jaw tightened as a wand pointed in his direction. Yes, it was not uncommon for people to be hexed in the common room, but fortunately Evan had done more of the hexing than being hexed. His eyes flicked up to see who was boldly pointing a wand in his direction, but it was only Bellatrix, who seen relaxed after seeing it was Evan.
He'd known Bellatrix for the longest out of everyone else at Hogwarts; their parents were close friends, which often meant that he and Bella were put together as children, as well as Evan's older brother and Bella's two younger sisters. Not only was Bella one of his oldest acquaintances, they were both inducted as Death Eaters during the same ceremony. Whilst they weren't the kind of friends that liked to hang out on weekends or do typical 'friend-like' things, they still knew each other quite well.
"Had I known it was you there would have been no need for caution." he said in a cold flat voice, walking over and taking the seat next to her by the dwindling fire. "Tell me, Bellatrix, what brings you out here at such a time in the morning?" He crossed one leg over the other and placed his hands on the arms of the armchair. He noted the ink-scratched parchment and quill placed on the table in front of him. "Ah, writing letters, I see." He leant forward to get a better look at the parchment. "A letter to your parents. How nice." he flashed a cynical smile at her.
His eyes rolled over the dark-mark, clearly seen on Bellatrix's forearm, that matched his own. So far, he had never had to use it - thank the Lord - but an inkling feeling, scratching at the back of his mind, told him that that time would come soon.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The fact that Bella allowed Evan to sit next to her without comment was at least some indication of their acquaintance. If any random Slytherin had tried that, they would have got a sharp comment at the very least. And that was if she was in a very good mood. But with Evan Rosier it was a different matter altogether. The two were well acquinted, not only were they from two of the most prestigious Pureblood familes, but they had joined the ranks of the Dark Lord at the same time. It was safe to say Evan was one of the few people that Bellatrix felt comfortable around.
She smirked at his first comment, reassuming her position on the armchair next to Evan’s. She pulled her legs up onto the armchair and crossed them, turning in her seat to face Evan. “I just haven’t found the time to sleep today.” She shrugged, glancing over at the clock on the opposite side of the room. True, it had been over twenty four hours since she last slept, but she wasn’t one to complain about tiredness.
She watched his movements with narrowed eyes, as he leant forward to look at her letter. “Oh, you haven’t heard? I’m to be married by the end of the year, it’s all terribly exciting isn’t it?” Her words were dripping in sarcasm; the bitter tone of her voice was too obvious to be missed. She sighed softly, turning her attention to the dying fire. She watched the flames for several seconds, before turning back to Evan.
“And how about yourself? Don’t tell me poor Evan couldn’t get to sleep?” she asked, her tone patronising, as if speaking to someone much younger than herself. The subject of her marriage seemed to have a negative effect on her current mood. Although, it seemed unlikely that Evan would be bothered, surely he was used to her mood swings after all these years.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan frowned slightly at Bella's answer. He didn't want to show too much concern for her; but at the same time, he did want her to get enough sleep. He knew of the plot they were planning on carrying out in the next couple of days and he wanted her to be fully rested and ready for what they were about to do. As much as the mudbloods did not deserve a place at Hogwarts, they would fight back - and hard. He made no further comment on the matter, but instead, just hoped that Bella knew what she was doing. He trusted her enough with that.
His eyebrows raised in shock as he let out a low whistle. Parents could definitely be cruel sometimes. "Have they told you who you are to be married to?" he inquired, pausing to put his forefinger on his bottom lip. Out of all the things - he was not expecting that. He supposed his parents would begin to pressure him at some point, too; his parents were quite close with the Blacks, and who knew what kind of things they had been talking about recently. But, fortunately, they did not know of the plan he, Bella and the Carrow twins were about to pull off. However, he did know they would approve.
He let out a small chuckle at Bellatrix's inquiry as to his sleeping patterns. He'd been thinking about Vienne, of course, but he would hardly admit it to Bella. "Carrow's snoring again." he lied smoothly, looking over at Bellatrix. Afterall, it was not a lie that wouldn't go down well. Amycus Carrow's snores could be heard from the opposite end of the Common Room chamber at times. "I half expect Alecto is as bad, too," he said mildly, making small talk.
His thoughts drifted back to the idea of marriage. How old was Bella, now? Nearly eighteen? Old enough to marry, sure - but what was the purpose of Mr. Black putting pressure on his daughter to marry? Evan's mind was split in two: did he bring up the subject again, or not? Bellatrix had dropped the subject so quickly, that logically, Evan should not bring it up again. But, being Evan, he took the opposite view.
"So, Bellatrix, explain to me why you are to get married." He quipped an eyebrow and looked over at her, trying to piece together the puzzle. "I suppose it's for more political reasons rather than matters of the heart?" Afterall, he hadn't heard of Bella being with anyone at this point in time. Unless she was keeping it on the down-low, which wouldn't be uncommon. It wasn't like Evan was clean in that department.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Evan’s reaction to her announced lack of sleep did not go unnoticed by Bella. She almost rolled her eyes at his reaction, but restrained herself from doing so right at the last second. She knew exactly what he was thinking, and exactly why he thought she should be sleeping. But Bellatrix did not see the planned attack on the Mudbloods to be something she needed to be well rested for. After all, what use were a bunch of Mudbloods against four Death Eaters? The idea of it being a difficult fight was almost ludicrous the the dark haired Slytherin, but maybe that was something to do with the infamous arrogant attitude she was known for.
She shook her head at Evan’s question, a look of irritation flashing onto her face. While this irritation may have been interpreted as annoyance at Evan asking her the question, it wasn’t. He was right, her parents hadn’t even told her who she was getting married to, they just expected her to do as they said without comment. She pulled her knees up to her chest and wrapped her arms around them. It was a position that made her greatly resemble a child, and the sulky look on her face added to the effect. Her father’s letter had been short and brief, simply stating that it was time for her to enter into a respectable, pureblood marriage.
And so she had taken her anger out on others, often younger Gryffindor or Hufflepuff students. It had only been two days since she landed that third year Gryffindor in the Hospital Wing. That annoyance, combined with a serious lack of sleep has turned Bellatrix into someone you definitely did not want to be around this week. She laughed, although her laughter was devoid of real humor, she was not in a particularly joyful mood tonight to be laughing in a carefree manner. She nodded, the trademark smirk appearing once again on her face. “Silencing charms around the boundaries of her bed is something we’ve had to do a great number of times over the past few years.”
Her eyes narrowed as Evan brought up the subject of her marriage again. Couldn’t he see that it was not her favorite topic of the moment? But even Bellatrix had to admit that if there was only one person she could talk to about this, then it would be Evan Rosier. “Of course it’s for political reasons,” she answered quickly, “It’s all about building stronger alliances between the pureblood families. I have no say in the matter. With three daughters to marry off, it’s logical my parents would want to do so as soon as I turn eighteen.”
Bella once again gazed into the fire, her eyes following the flickering of the dying flame. “I just wish they’d let me have some time once I leave Hogwarts. Even a year would be enough.” Of course, Bella had no other plans other than to become a fulltime servant of the Dark Lord. Her fascination with him had grown fast since getting the dark mark, and it was only just short of becoming an obsession. Surely it wouldn’t be long before others realized the level at which she seemed to be hypnotized by the Dark Lord. “They don’t understand the dedication required to serve the Dark Lord, I need to be there with him, all of the time.” She trailed off, only just becoming aware that speaking of the Dark Lord in this manner might cause suspicion.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan had to chuckle. Putting a silencing charm around Alecto's bed was nearly priceless. If only they had thought to do the same with Amycus. But, it was no matter. He had lied anyway; Carrow wasn't even in bed yet, at least to Evan's knowledge. The real reason why Evan was sitting here with Bellatrix still remained at the back of his mind, constantly clawing and gnashing at the line between the conscious and unconscious. He couldn't get that damn Vienne Zabini out of his head and it was starting to become a problem.
Evan couldn't help but smile at Bellatrix's reaction to the topic of her marriage. Sure, he could see that it wasn't exactly her most favourite subject at this point in time, but it was a topic of interest for the both of them. Evan wondered if he would be the one to have to marry Bellatrix, but he soon dismissed that thought. Their families were too friendly for that. Perhaps it would be Carrow, or one of the LeStrange boys. Perhaps even Lucius Malfoy. "Will they do the same for your sisters?" Evan enquired, turning his head towards Bellatrix. "And will I be invited to the wedding?" He almost sneered. It was a sarcastic remark, but at the same time, he was also very serious.
Evan thought about what Bellatrix had said. "Well, perhaps if you apply to their good-nature. Say you'll take the year to find a suitable husband for yourself." But, knowing the Black family, they would not approve.
There was no need for any such suspicion on Bellatrix's part: Evan had long understood Bellatrix's need for servitude. Evan was practically the same; there was something about the thought of power and serving under the name of the Dark Lord that was so richly enticing. "It's okay Bella. I know what you mean." His voice was soft and calming. If there was one thing that the two old friends could agree on, it was matters of the Dark Lord. They had both signed up together and received their Dark Marks at the same ceremony. They both had a darkness inside of them that could not be repressed. No, Evan understood all too well.
"Would the Dark Lord want you married? Or would it take away from your servitude of him." Evan started to think out-loud. "Surely your parents would have considered that?" Evan bit down hard on his lip, trying to piece together the puzzle. "And Bella, you are quite right. They do not understand the amount of dedication needed to serve him. Else they would not have asked you to marry."
"But, I am sure you will find a suitable husband, even if your parents do not give up. There's always Rodolphus LeStrange. Apparently he is considered handsome, to some." But not to Evan.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The thought of her mother having to find a suitable husband for each of her three daughters was almost amusing to Bellatrix. It would be exactly like her mother to take it up as something of a hobby, and busy herself with nothing but arrangements for engagement parties and weddings. Yes, Druella Black was never happier when planning the most elaborate, over the top party she could possibly throw. Bella nodded at Evan’s comment. Of course. She had been far too busy feeling sorry for herself, that she completely ignored the fact that her sisters had to follow in her footsteps. But then again, Bellatrix Black never did take the time to think of others.
“Yes, both of my sisters will be at least engaged by the time they leave Hogwarts, if my parents have anything to do with it. I have no doubt Cissy will be married off to someone equally as stunning as she is, in the hope of producing gorgeous grandchildren.” She laughed softly; her mother had always had a habit of fussing over Narcissa, buying her clothes, brushing her hair, dressing her to look like a porcelain doll. She hadn’t bothered with Bella and Andromeda, who had both inherited too much of the haughty arrogant Black features to be considered classically good looking.
Bella smirked at Evan, a hint of mischievousness twinkling in her dark eyes. “Hmm, let’s think about this one,” she joked, “Tell the Dark Lord how amazing I was torturing the mudbloods when we next see him, and I’ll personally give you an invitation.” The planned attack was only a few nights away. Bella was almost over-eager to inform the Dark Lord of what they had done, and she was certain the rest of her fellow death eaters were as well. After all, getting on the dark lord’s good side could never be a bad thing.
Bella shrugged off Evan’s next comment with a shake of her head. She was a part of the Black family after all, and everybody knew Cygnus Black did what he wanted, when he wanted. There was no doubt about it.
Her anxiety momentarily arisen before was completely forgotten when Evan changed the tone of his voice. She instantly felt calm and relaxed, no longer worried about what she had said of the Dark Lord. It seemed to be a common trait with a lot of male Slytherins, the ability to manipulate situations just with their voice. Maybe that was why they were so good at talking their way out of trouble. Either way, she visibly relaxed, leaning back in her armchair. “He said it wouldn’t be such a bad idea, carrying on the Pureblood line." His reaction had unsettled her, there was no doubt about that. She had wished for a stronger reaction, for him to forbid her to be married. After all, who could defy the Dark Lord? But no, he had seemed strangely calm when she mentioned it in her private Dark Arts lesson the day before last.
She considered Rodolphus Lestrange for a minute, they knew each other fairly well, being in the same year meant they had most of their classes together. “He may be handsome, but he’s hardly someone I wish to spend the rest of my life with.” She said sharply, “Although I suppose he’s a lot better than some of the names my father has been throwing about. Maybe I should mention his name in a letter to mother.” It was hard to tell whether she was being serious, even Bella herself was not entirely sure. After all, this marriage was going to happen, maybe it was time she started looking at her options. Bella turned to consider Evan. She looked at him thoughtfully for a few moments, before starting to speak. “You just wait, this time next year you may be in the same position as I am. Maybe you’ll end up marrying Cissy and becoming my brother in law.” She paused, quickly scanning a mental list of Pureblood females. “I suppose Vienne Zabini would be a suitable match for you, at least in the eyes of your parents.” It was almost a struggle to keep Bellatrix from rolling her eyes at the thought of the girl in the year below her.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan's chuckle mirrored Bella's. Narcissa Black being forced to marry under her parent's command - and, preferably, to someone handsome. Purebloods were well-bred in general, but there was always the oddball that was considered the exact opposite to handsome. "Imagine her married to Snape." Evan mused, a smile tugging at the ends of his lips. Oh, what a funny idea that would be. "And what about Andromeda? No doubt she'll be married to a Malfoy, or Rookwood." But, then again, Andromeda always had different ideas from her parents.
Evan laughed darkly. "Well, you better earn my praise." No doubt, Bella would be the best out of the four of them involved, but Evan hadn't quite acquired the use of praising and complimenting people, unless it was the Dark Lord; bu in that case, it was credit where credit was due. Evan longed to understand the complex workings of the Dark Lord's mind - to follow him wherever he may lead. The power that the Dark Lord possessed was too great to he fought.
He frowned and nodded his head, able to see where the Dark Lord was coming from. "I suppose that's true." Evan said after much thought, considering both sides. First of all, there was Bella's freedom. With the hard work that she put into all things considered (the Dark Lord, school, socialising with the right people), she deserved time after school. But the pureblood line was also important.
Evan's thoughts drifted to Bella being a mother; and so soon! This was her last year of school, and if carrying on the pureblood line was in the forefront of both the Dark Lord and her parent's mind's, Bella would be a mother nine month after she left school. It was a hard thought for Evan to come to, and he wondered if Bella knew the consequences of marrying so early. He bit his lip in hesitation, wondering if he should bring up the subject. But, after thinking about it some more, Evan decided to bite his tongue on the subject and bring it up another time - after the attack.
Evan nodded, knowing exactly what Bella meant. Rodolphus wasn't exactly the marrying type. He was well known for his womanising ways - which, given, was probably due to his good looks. "Yes, perhaps. After all," he said, smiling, "you wouldn't want to end up with Snape." He raised his eyebrows, a sly look on his face.
"Ha ha," he said, grinning. "Well, it's good you think me handsome enough to marry Cissy," he laughed, relaxing a little more in his chair, running his hand up his jawline. "And all the beautiful grandchildren we would produce." His eyes twinkled at thought. Evan was hardly a family man, but he could easily see the Black Family, amongst his own, deciding that he and one of the Black children were to be married.
Vienne Zabini. Evan froze at the mention of her name, feeling his core temperature drop. Did Bella know the full extent of Evan's relationship with Vienne? No, how could she. Vienne barely knew! His eyes snapped over to Bella, eager to know if she knew. "I suppose." he said stiffly. "but you don't care for her much, do you?" he probed, wanting to know more.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The idea of her little sister being married off to Severus Snape made Bella’s face twist with distaste. It was only after several seconds of this that she realized Evan was not being entirely serious, and her face relaxed into a smirk. Severus was one of those rare types of Slytherins that seemed to shun attention, while the majority of Slytherins lived for admiration and respect from their fellow housemates. And yet he was uncommonly talented in the Dark Arts, despite only being fifteen years of age. She would go as far as to say that he was better than the majority of sixth and seventh years, with the exception of herself and Evan. Private Dark Arts lessons with the Dark Lord did have some effect after all.
She frowned as Evan mentioned her sister. It was becoming increasingly obvious to Bella as the months went on that she and Andromeda were drifting apart. The time they spent together was decreasing, and the number of arguments they were having was steadily increasing. Despite the age difference, Bellatrix found herself closer to Narcissa, perhaps because her youngest sister was considerably more impressionable, eager to please. Andromeda on the other hand, tended to do what she pleased, and could rarely be persuaded to do otherwise. She shrugged her shoulders gently, there would be plenty of time to bring Andromeda round to her way of thinking before she left Hogwarts.
Bella smirked mischievously at Evan’s next comment. “I plan to do than just earn your praise Evan.” She responded, winking at him in a playful manner. “In fact, maybe you shouldn’t bother turning up at all, I can handle this on my own.” She continued, her tone making it quite obvious she wasn’t being serious. Yes, Bella was an extraordinarily talented witch, with a particularly fondness for the Cruciatus Curse. But she lacked the important ability to restrain herself and hold at least some degree of self-control over herself. It was one of the traits that Evan had perfected beautifully over the years, and the seventeen year old witch would have been most definitely lying if she had of said she wasn’t jealous of it.
“Evan, you seem to be bringing Snape into this conversation an awful lot tonight. Is this your way of telling me that the two of you have struck up a beautiful friendship?” she asked teasingly. She shifted slightly in her chair, the fire was almost completely out, and the room was getting ever colder, or at least it felt that way to someone wearing no sleeves. “I dread to think of how overjoyed my mother would be if the two of you ever did decide to make her a Grandmother.” She laughed. Bella paused, not sure how to proceed. Of course, she could continue talking about his appearance, but complimenting him too much might have a negative side effect. After all, Slytherins were known to have inflated egos.
She could not fail to notice his reaction to Vienne’s name. Even though her eyes were not focused on him at that particular second, she sensed his body tense, and the tone of his voice was too cautious. Bella’s own eyes narrowed slightly, why did Vienne Zabini’s name cause such a reaction? Could it be possible that the two were . . . involved? Surely not? The thought made her extremely uncomfortable, and Bella knew exactly why that was, but it was not something she wanted to think about. And for a reason even she could not entirely explain, colour rose on her face, making her cheeks appear a faint pink. Unfortunately for Bella, it was even more apparent on her ivory skin.
Bella disliked the girl immensely. Of course she did. How could she not? She was pureblood, beautiful, graceful, intelligent, the list was endless. Moments ago she would have willingly told Evan this, but now she wasn’t so sure if she should. “We’ve become well acquainted through various means, but I’d hardly describe myself to be in a position to comment on her.” She replied diplomatically. Although in fairness, her words probably had just given her away. Bellatrix Black had an opinion on everything and everything, and normally, she was not afraid to share it. “She’s in your year is she not? Surely the two of you spend a considerable amount of time together?” she asked, her curiosity barely masked.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan smiled genuinely as Bella winked at him. He wondered if she was insinuating something more - a euphemism as such - but he paid little attention to it. Bella was absolutely stunning in her own right, but Evan felt as if he had known Bellatrix Black for too long in order to think of her like that. Who knew? Perhaps one day he would start to think of her differently, but as for now, she was an old friend who had her loyalties in the right places.
The other Black sisters had their own beauty; Narcissa in particular inheriting her mother's beauty. The Rosier Family, in fact, was related to Druella Black - but very distantly. A second cousin or something - but, that wasn't uncommon with most of the pureblood families in Britain. They were all related somehow, whether it through blood or marriage. "Very funny, Bella," Evan warned, a sly grin on his face. He lifted his eyebrow as he looked at her, wondering if she was thinking what he was thinking. Bellatrix was awfully good at many things, but she excelled in the case of the Cruciatus Curse. He made a mental note to erase the memory in their wands after the attack, as to not get caught by the Professors - or, worst case scenario - those bloody Aurors.
Evan sneered at her. "Me?" he asked, putting a hand on his chest, "friends with Severus Snape? You must be joking, Bellatrix," he said harshly. Severus Snape, while being apart of the selected group of acquaintances Evan Rosier had, was not to be trusted as one of his friends. He was far too quiet for anyone's liking, but, he was good in the case of a duel. He excelled at the Dark Arts, and to be quite honest, Evan was bitterly jealous of the boy's talent. "But, I do concede that we should have asked him to assist in our 'meeting'. His talents would prove quite useful..." Evan trailed off, studying the back of his hand as he spoke.
Evan smiled sourly. He had no intentions of having children, and as much as he admired and adores Narcissa Black, she was not the person he intended to be with; at least for the moment. More thoughts of Vienne Zabini invaded his mind, but as hard as Evan tried, he could not push the beauty out of his mind. Bellatrix made a very diplomatic answer on her opinion of Vienne, which Evan found commendable. "I would have thought you'd have an opinion on her, Bella," Evan said with surprise. "Yes, she is in my year," he said, frowning slightly. If she wasn't in his year, and in most of his classes, she would be easier to stay away from. "But we don't spend an amazing amount of time together, no."
"To be quite honest, Bella," he said, shifting slightly in his chair to face his friend, "I choose to spend my time in solitude. You, and perhaps Rookwood, are the only two real 'friends' I have." He didn't sound sad or regretful about it, but merely as a 'matter of fact'. He didn't mind being alone - in fact, he rather preferred it - but in times like these it was hard to choose who you could trust, and Bellatrix and Augustus were the two oldest and closest friends Evan had ever had. Secretly, he hoped that one day he would trust Vienne as well as his two friends, but the realistic side of Evan's mind knew that there was only a slim chance of it ever happening. "But the 'friend' situation is different with you?" he inquired, asking after who Bella chose to spend her time with. "I see you and Andromeda haven't been on speaking terms lately." He knew that Andromeda had been spending time with Sirius - the Black Family traitor - as of late, but he did not know Bellatrix's opinion on the matter. Surely she would be angry, if not very frustrated, with her younger sister.

Of course, the idea of someone like Evan Rosier being friendly with someone like Severus Snape was ridiculous, but then again, Bellatrix never did miss an opportunity to wind someone up. She seemed to live for it, it was like a game to her, seeing just how far she could push someone until they snapped. And when they did, the game would get very interesting indeed. Bella’s face darkened as Evan suggested, yet again, they should have asked for help from Snape. Yes, he was immensely talented, Bellatrix would be a fool to deny it, but they were perfectly capable of carrying out this attack alone. More than capable.
“I’m fairly certain I’ve already made my view on the matter quite clear,” she said coldly. “We do not need assistance of any form. Especially from someone like Severus Snape.” The matter had been brought up several times already while the four Death Eaters had been planning the attack. And Bella had remained insistent throughout, they were not asking for help from the younger Slytherin. No way. There was no way Bellatrix Black would ever ask for help, not even if she was outnumbered ten to one. She glanced down at her left forearm, sighing as she did so. It would do no use to have this argument yet again just days before the attack and so, she grudgingly let the matter drop.
At Evan’s comment, she closed her eyes briefly. If nothing else proved it, this certainly did. Evan Rosier knew her too well. Of course she had an opinion on Vienne Zabini. She had an opinion on everyone, and Evan knew that. “And you would be correct to think that Evan. But my opinion of her is less than favorable, and my parents have insisted I stop speaking of other purebloods in a negative light.” She replied lightly. Technically, her parents request was true, but they’d been asking her to do the same thing for years but she’d never once listened to them. It was a lot easier to lie than have to explain why she was jealous of Vienne Zabini.
She shrugged lightly at his response. After all, it was none of her business who Evan spent his time with, but she was interested all the same. “I see. I only ask because Macnair mentioned he’d seen the two of you together in the library.” She said casually, trying not to let the accusation in her words be heard. “Although what Macnair was doing in the library I have no idea.” she added under her breath.
She nodded. The words coming out of his mouth made sense. Of course, it was well known that Evan and Rookwood were close; a simple observation of the two would tell you as much. Perhaps if they had been in another house, it would have been noticed to a greater extent, but it was considered relatively normal in Slytherin to have only a few ‘true friends’. Trust could be a dangerous thing, and it was wise to be cautious of it, as the Dark Lord often said. “Until a few months ago, I would have trusted my sisters with everything.” She started, speaking slowly. She considered Andromeda momentarily, her sister had always been very independent, but her independence was causing her to think she could get away with ignoring the families values and beliefs. And if Bella had anything to do with it, she wouldn’t be getting away with it until longer. “But I no longer can. Andromeda has been caught in the company of my darling blood traitor cousin several times in the past few weeks. I may have to . . . step in, so to speak, if this behavior carries on.” She spoke firmly, her decision made. Yes, Andromeda was her sister, but Sirius had been her cousin, and that didn’t stop Bella making his life hell.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Evan rolled his eyes. Bellatrix certainly was opinionated when it came to just about everyone who went to Hogwarts, but as much as Evan didn't like Severus Snape, he had to admit that the kid had talent. Perhaps more talent that anyone would give him credit for; but nonetheless, Bellatrix was right. They didn't need any more help when it came to the weekend's events. They'd be able to stop four piddley blood-traitors in their midst.
Evan laughed, his head resting on the back of the armchair he was sitting in. "We both know that you never listen to your parents, Bellatrix," He raised his eyebrows at her, pondering her reason for being so polite about Vienne. "So you can stop lying now." He would have thought that Vienne would have been the exact kind of person that would rub Bellatrix up the wrong way. Vienne was smart, and she knew it. She was also beautiful and used it to her own advantage. No, Bellatrix would have many reasons to hate Vienne, but Evan couldn't quite figure out why Bella felt the need to be so nice about it.
Evan stared at the fire and frowned. "Macnair was in the library? Little git. He was probably spying on me. Again." He rolled his eyes and put his forehead in his palm. "Yes, we were in the library together. But I don't know why that's any of your concern," Evan snapped back, his shark-like teeth clenched tightly together.
Obviously, something was the matter with Andromeda Black. It didn't take long for Evan to get to the bottom of it, as Bellatrix decidedly told him that Andy had been spending a bit too much time with Sirius Black; the traitor of the Black Family Tree. "I see," Evan said, putting his fingers together under his chin. "Well, if you need any help..." he began, shrugging, "you know where I am."
As Evan looked over towards the now-dwindling fire, he could see that the sun had begun to rise through the window on the far end of the room. Had they both really been up for so long? Evan squinted, the sun rising ever so slowly in the make-shift window. There weren't any real windows in the dungeons, but instead fake ones that were made to look like the scenery outside.
"People will be getting up soon," Evan said slowly, frowning. He could have sat here forever with Bellatrix, his old friend.

you heard that i was trouble , BUT YOU COULDN'T RESISTJ U S T T A K E A B I T E L E T M E S H A K E U P Y O U R W O R L D- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - At Evan’s first comment, Bella knew she had been caught out. He was correct when he accused her of lying. She knew he was right, and most importantly, he knew it as well. But it hardly changed anything; there was still no chance that she was going to tell him exactly what she thought of Vienne Zabini. In any case, he probably had a good idea of how she felt about Zabini. She pressed her lips together tightly, and folded her arms across her chest. No. She wasn’t going to give him a response to that one.
Although, as the conversation changed topic she laughed softly and unfolded her arms. Yes, she was very familiar with Macnair spying on everyone. He seemed to make it his business to know where everybody was and what they were doing at all times. And seeing as Bellatrix was in the same year and most of the same classes, she had been subjected to quick a lot of his behaviour over the years. She’d lost count of the number of times she’d threatened him to mind his own business. Bella blinked in surprise as Evan’s tone got suddenly vicious. And it wasn’t like Bellatrix Black not to respond to something like that. “Fine. In the future I won’t bother showing an interest.” She replied coldly and abruptly.
She sat in silence for several seconds, glaring at the table in front of her. Despite the fact she often spoke to people in a very similar manner, she was not used to being spoken to like that by her closest friends. She barely gave him time to finish his sentence before she snapped “I neither want nor require your help with my family Rosier.”
Immediately after the words had left her mouth, she sighed. Bella knew it wasn’t right to treat Evan like that, they were the oldest of friends, they’d been through a lot together. “I’m sorry Evan,” she said softly. It was a mark of how strong their friendship actually was, Bellatrix Black never apologised. “I appreciate your offer. Perhaps you could have a word with her?” If nothing else, it was an idea. Andromeda and Evan knew each other fairly well. Not to the extent that Bella and Evan knew each other of course, but the two families were reasonably close. Maybe it would be worth a try, in any case.
At Evan’s next comment, her attention was brought to window at the end of the common room. The light from the morning sun was slowly creeping into the room. It came as a complete surprise to Bella that morning was very near. How long had they been sitting here? In all honesty she didn’t feel the slightest bit tired, although she knew the dark circles under her eyes told a different story. “Perhaps an hours sleep will do us both good.” She said wistfully. She sent a genuine smile in Evan’s direction.

i've got everything that i needRIGHT IN FRONT OF ME Fine. If Bellatrix wasn't going to justify her comments on Vienne now, Evan would just have to find out later. It wasn't like Evan needed anyone's good opinion on the subject, or even their blessing, to be able to feel the way he did about Vienne; but a burning curiosity deep in the back of Evan's throat wanted to know what Bellatrix truly thought about the girl.
Bella's response was short, snappy, and she was obviously annoyed at Evan. Evan frowned - he wasn't particularly used to people showing an interest in his life. Mostly, he kept any such news or tales to himself, seeing as he didn't have, nor want, anyone to share it with. But, from the look of how Bellatrix had suddenly turned cold on him, Evan must have been slightly wrong.
The two of them sat in silence until Bella sighed and apologised - something that was very rare for the young Black girl. Evan nodded silently at Bella's request. "Of course," he said simply. His next step was to find out what to say to Andromeda about her current social circle. Being such old friends with the Black Family, Evan decided he would have to think very carefully about how to approach the subject without causing much drama. The pureblood families had to stay together - especially with such exciting times coming up, and Evan wasn't going to be the one to kick the hornet's nest.
Evan smiled back at Bellatrix as the sun rose above their heads. "Perhaps," Evan said, feeling the warmth spread across his pale face. "I doubt either one of us will be getting much sleep, though," he mused out loud, sinking back into the sleek black armchair. He smiled back at Bellatrix; although Narcissa was considered to be the beauty of the family, there was always something about Bellatrix that had been beautiful. Perhaps it was her courage, or charisma, or the way that she talked back to anyone she liked with such confidence, but her eyes, as dark and pointed as they were, always told a story.
Evan rose from the armchair, tying his dressing robe around him a bit tighter. "Until next time," he said, smiling, as he nodded in Bella's direction. He intended to at least try and sleep within this next hour, but the time would probably be spent staring at the ceiling, thinking of Vienne Zabini. Without another word, Evan walked back towards the boys dormitory and shut the door quietly behind him. And wouldn't you know, Carrow was actually snoring.
