Bella nodded in appreciation at Evan’s acceptance to her request. If there was one person she trusted enough to talk to Andromeda, it was Evan. She knew he would give the matter at least some degree of consideration; consider the best approach before trying to talk to the younger Black sister. It was more than she could ask of any other Slytherin; the rest of her house seemed to lack the ability to be subtle.
She smiled as he bid her goodbye. Bella watched Evan as he rose from his chair, and her eyes followed him as he retreated back to the boys dormitory. The conversation they had just shared had felt natural and easy. It hadn’t ended in a huge argument, nor had it involved Bella making too many insulting comments, as was often the case with other Slytherins she was acquainted with.
It was almost a shame that her parents wouldn’t consider Evan as a potential husband. But no, certain families were almost certainly off the list, and the Rosier family was one of those families. The very simple reason being that her marriage was supposed to create new links and arrangements between two families; the Rosier family was already extremely close to her own.
Bella shook her head slightly; it did her no good to think these kind of thoughts. Glancing at her own reflection in a mirror on the wall near her, she couldn’t help but notice that the dark shadows under her eyes were getting worse. She almost envied Evan for being able to sleep. Even if it was only for an hour or so.
Sighing, she reached forward and picked up her unfinished letter and her quill. With any luck, she’d have the letter to her parents finished by sunrise. After all, she really couldn’t leave their proposal unanswered any longer.
