in-depth appearance:
Of average height and weight, Althea would not stand out in a crowd if not for her proper posture - drilled into her from a young age. At fifteen, her body is still that of a younger girl, with narrow, almost boyish hips and a small chest.
Taught to always show herself to an advantage, Althea learned to braid her somewhat dull flaxen hair and wear colours which drew attention to her large wide-set eyes whose light-green colour was otherwise unremarkable.
Her occasional smiles are wider than her mother would have liked, her laugh just a touch too loud to be proper and she hasn't yet shaken off the habit of running to her destination, even though it turns her face red as a radish.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
As a child, Althea yearned for companionship and friends her own age. At eight, her only friends were a duo of half-blood boys - the groundskeeper's children - and they weren't really proper folk. Her older cousins were spoiled brats who charmed her shoes and hexed her ribbons while her younger cousins were snot-nosed whiny babies who wouldn't share their toys.in-depth personality:
Due to her old school upbringing, she is still somewhat disdainful of mixed blood children even after witnessing their magical prowess in school. However, she tries to temper her contempt as best she can: at fifteen, she secretly envies others' close friendships while feeling that, perhaps, it is her own flawed personality that makes others reluctant to befriend her.
Another character flaw she is trying to deal with is her vengeful nature. Objectively, she knows that no good can come from nurturing a grudge and that her first impulse should be to appease not to hex, but she still has trouble controlling her anger and hateful thoughts whenever she believes herself slighted.
However, a bright sliver of childlike innocence still clings to her and she loves making someone smile if it doesn't cost her anything; She likes swapping childhood stories with a few of her dorm-mates and dreaming up adventures for her classmates to engage in: and if they are a smidgen darker than the average fairy-tale, the boys planting the itching poisons say nothing and the girls throwing the hexes do so without remorse.

likes:
She takes her tea without milk or sugar and her cakes with a surfeit of whipped cream...
She likes to walk in the fog, basking in the way it shrouds her from sight...
She likes grapes and wattermellons and all manner of sweet fruits...
She charms her cloak against water and sits in the rain, listening to the pitter-patter of raindrops...
She loves reading about Merlin and Morgana and secretly wishes she could have lived in those days when magic was felt in the very air and there were no mudbloods forcing their muggle ideas onto proper wizarding folk.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
dislikes:
Althea doesn't like weeds. One of her first memories is running around barefoot and stepping on a spiny weed;
She dislikes brown: the color of dirt, dung and filth...
She is tired of being told to act the part of a proper lady...
She hates it when her Grandmother uses a Stinging Hex to correct her posture almost as much as she hates her Grandmother's mocking tones;
She despises her older cousins - Merlin knows she has enough of those, patronising Slytherins the lot of them;
She loathes feeling ignorant. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

boggart: When she was nine, Althea once saw her parents lying dead, blood still flowing onto the thick carpet... The house elf responsible for forgetting to lock the Boggart cupboard was killed.
patronus: cheetah
mirror of erised: Looking into the mirror, Althea sees herself next to a handsome man, holding a child in her arms, behind them, in the shadows, an army of bowing figures... (Her deepest desire is to achieve, together with her family, power and prestige through knowledge)
wand: 9"3/4 elm and runespoor fang

A golden stream snaking its way through sunlit woods and dew-covered fields, an artfully arranged rose garden its small waterfall and moving sculptures; for a long time Althea believed the Manor grounds to be the most beautiful place in all of Britain... and then she was old enough to visit her cousins' homes and realized with a pang that her enchanted world was merely the world of the privileged.in depth history:
And soon with the permission to visit her friends and acquaintances came the burden of rules and expectations: to be prettier than the cousin with the silky raven locks, smarter than the cousin who already knew her sums, more accomplished than the one who could play the flute or sing the Ballad of Mordred's Fall from start to finish. Her mother and father, Ravenclaw alumni of certain prestige in the Charms community, expected great things of their daughter.
Hogwarts was an eye-opening experience: in Ravenclaw tower, nobody cared what you were doing as long as it didn't intrude on their own business or study time: lounging on some cushions next to the fireplace were some girls analyzing the relative benefits of Atropa Belladona extract versus Atropa Acuminata in the Spurned Love Draught, here a couple of fourth-years making improvements to the standard slicing spell - for academic purposes, of course - and here a trio of seventh years practicing partial human to animal transfiguration on an unfortunate year-mate who appeared to have gotten the short end of the stick.
Academically, Althea's first four years at Hogwarts passed uneventfully: learning the mandatory spells, researching interesting hexes and curses, trying to outdo her fellow year-mates - especially a red-headed mudblood in Charms - and discovering that her wand fairly sang when using the more vicious spells while dueling a year-mate.
Romantically, she felt it as a bit of a letdown that while she had fallen in and out of love since her third year, boys had yet to ask her out and frequently despaired over her boyish figure.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

roleplay sample: A small girl with braided flaxen hair was looking longingly at the boisterous children waiting to board the train. "Pay attention, dear girl" her grandmother would have reminded her "Belacqua don't do boisterous. Now stop slouching, it's unbecoming." As if obeying the absent grandmother, Althea assumed a posture more suitable for a young lady. Just as well, her parents had apparently finished conversing, taken down the Silencing Charm and were ready to bid her farewell.
"By Morgana, this is boring!" thought Althea as she sat in the crowded compartment. Her childhood acquaintances were chatting up a storm, sharing gossip on everyone who was not someone: the poor, the ugly and the mudbloods - in short, all the children whom they had met and were certainly not 'proper folk'.
Pretending to be absorbed in admiring the passing scenery, Althea mused on the upcoming Sorting Ceremony. "Ravenclaw it must be. No one ever suspects Father and Mother of any wrongdoing..." she thought, allowing herself a small, secretive smile, her Father's voice echoing in her mind "...after all, why pay attention to the reserved yet polite Ravenclaws when the Slytherins are presenting themselves as a much more obvious target." She was promised full access to the family library if she obtained good grades - no more sneaking into the Dark section with the elves as lookouts.
Absent-mindedly playing with her braid, Althea considered all the wonderful new things she would learn, the treasure trove of books made available to her by simply attending the school when a thought occurred to her and she turned her attention to her compartment mates, eagerly waiting for an opening.
