Nanny was very strict, te Parents were more strict. He was brought up in an elegant Townhouse in the centre of London. Graham being a Politician meant that he was always working hard in his study or taking a black Taxi to and from from the Houses Of Parliament. Eliza Ann, cared more about her looks, dining and drinking with friends, to have any time or affection with her one and only son. Gilderoy was merely a prop, brought out to show guests what a wonderful family man and Father Graham was before being sent back to his dark and musty play room. The Muggle born boy did not need anything, he had every new toys, wore the latest and stylish of fashions, but he never once received a hug or a kiss from his parents. The most body contact was the shake of a hand respectfully from his Father.in depth history:
A lonely childhood was marred by Gilderoy reading and daydreaming about the being the Hero in the books. Treasure Island, Moby Dick, Cinderella, Snow White and the SevenDwarves. Of course he was always the most handsome and dashing Prince that was loved by all, but always saved the beautiful Princess from certain Death.
He would often visit the picture houses and watch the latest in black and white movies and would be fascinated how the hero would save the girl from the train track just in time before the train would surely killed her. Surely then every one would have to love ad admire him?
His break was getting the famous leter that changed his life forever. Yes it was hard for him being Muggle born, he certainly lacked any knowledge of the Wizarding World, but Gilderoy soon made up for all this by reading and learning what he could. he learnt the latest fashions, how to ride a broom, used his wand pretty well for things that would suit him and was a Grade O student, well until he reached his 5th year. It was then that his need to be loved and recognised overtook his need for knowledge.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
