James stands at a very unimpressive 5’8. Like most of the men in the Potter family, he is on the short side with a small build, weighing in at only 133 pounds. He’s quite scrawny, so people always assume he plays Seeker, but he actually plays Chaser. He has an oval shaped face, with fringe constantly covering his eyes behind his glasses, very handsome, or so the ladies say.in-depth appearance:
James has messy black hair that will never lay flat, no matter what. It doesn’t help that James is constantly trying to mess it up more because he has noticed that the girls go wild for it. He does not usually let it get past the nape of his neck. James has large hazel eyes that are often hidden behind his horn-rimmed glasses. James is very expressive, so he is often rolling his eyes or glaring.
James is as stylish as they come, so when not in school robes, he wears the latest wizard fashions. Inspired by the hippie outfits, wizard robes are similar, with gaudy colours and lots of prints. On his laidback days, he wears wizard rock bands and jeans.

James Potter was born into a life of privilege and good looks, and with both of those comes a humungous ego. Life had always come easy for the heir to the Potter fortune. He was handsome, smart, popular, funny, and athletic. Many people like his cocky attitude, for some reason, so he went with it. The only people who did not seem to appreciate it were Slytherins and Lily. He learned the attitude from his father, Charles Potter. Everyone seemed to like his dad and he just wanted to be like his father.in-depth personality:
There are some good sides to James though. If he were not so brave, he would have landed in Hufflepuff for his loyalty. He would fiercely protect anything that was important to him, whether it was his secret Invisibility cloak, handed down from his father, or his friends. Other than Sirius, no one is allowed to pick on Peter. Oh sure, they all teased Peter, but when it came right down to it, they would do anything for the boy. He was a Marauder and a friend.
James is incredibly smart, often picking up spells after a few tries. He could probably have been a Ravenclaw, but he wastes his talent. He wants to only learn ‘practical’ spells that he can use against the enemy or in a prank. If he applied himself, he could probably be Head Boy one day, but that will never happen. He could never be expected to stop breaking the rules and handing out detentions to those who continue to break them (Sirius).
Sporty and competitive in nature, James will turn anything into a challenge. Last one to dinner has to flirt with that weird fourth year who keeps looking at us. Let’s see who can jump the highest. Who can drink the most firewhiskey without passing out? James gets riled up before Quidditch games and not even Evans can get into his mind when he is focused on beating the other team. As Chaser, he has to be very focused on his fellow Chasers and what their next move is.
After all of these flaws, it is hard to believe that James has any redeeming qualities, but in fact, he does. While he is an arrogant berk, he knows exactly where the line is. Everything is black and white for James. You are either Gryffindor or Slytherin, good or evil, pretty or ugly. The good guys go after the bad guys. He uses his morality compass to sometimes keep Sirius in check, who doesn’t always feel the same way as he does. Sometimes it scares James at how far Sirius is willing to push it, but he always has his best friend’s back.

boggart: Death of his parents
patronus: Stag. James’ first memory is the first time he, Sirius and Peter transformed at the same time. James and Sirius had transformed before Peter did, but when Peter finally got it, James felt extremely proud of himself and his friend.
mirror of erised: Secretly, James really wants greatness. He does not care how it comes, but he wants to be remembered. If, in his fifth year, he looked in the mirror, he would see himself holding the Quidditch cup, with his arm around Lily.

“You were born at 7:19 a.m. on 27 March. It was an agonizing birth, and I knew, as I lay in labour for 18 hours that you would be a tricky kid, and I was right.” Every year on James’ birthday his mother retold him that story. She had to stop when he started Hogwarts, but she sends him an owl, reminding him about her difficulties. Mary Potter had James when she was 50 years old. By that age, she and Charles, 51 at the time, had long given up on them ever producing a child. James was their miracle child, which was why they spoiled him.in depth history:
James was raised as the rich son, which gave him a life of privilege. He had every toy he wanted and since his mother could afford to stay at home, he had all of her attention. He was spoiled, but no one thought anything of it because when he had to attend Ministry of Magic events for the family, such as holiday parties, he spent time with other spoiled, rich children. Every time anyone said anything against their precious son, they had an excuse. Oh, sure, he always stopped crying as a baby whenever they gave him what he wanted, but he needed to know that his parents loved him. He might be quite loud as a toddler, but he was really just going through his terrible twos. He didn’t mean to steal that other boy’s broomstick, but we were waiting until James’s birthday to buy him that new model, and he couldn’t have known.
Shortly before Hogwarts though, they could not deny that they had raised a son who was completely spoiled. They spent the summer before he left for school trying to teach him the word ‘No,’ but it was too late. James thought he deserved whatever he wanted. After all, if his father wanted something, he went into the store and bought it. Why should James be any different? He wanted to be just like his father, and thus, he would be. When they dropped their son off, he gave them both very quick hugs, hoping no one saw. He wanted to be popular, but he was so used to seeing his parents daily, that going for months on end without them would be difficult., As soon as he said goodbye, he found an empty part of the train and waited. He did not want to ask to sit with anybody. He would rather they ask him, which is exactly what Sirius Black did. The boy looked familiar, so James figured he saw him at one of his father’s boring functions, but they just never interacted. They started talking and James found himself warming to the boy instantly, though when Sirius said his family were all Slytherins, he almost kicked the boy out.
When Sirius was Sorted into Gryffindor, James cheered loudly, earning a look from Professor McGonagall. James, after many, many names, followed his soon-to-be best friend, joined by fellow first years Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. He tried striking up a conversation with the pretty red head, but she was distracted by the weird kid at the Slytherin table. He gave her up for a lost cause and focused on his new friends.
James’ first year at Hogwarts was pretty quiet, excluding the pranks they started pulling near the end of the year as their confidence grew. They continued the pranking into their second years, starting to build reputations, helped along by James scoring a spot on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Their third year, helped with Astronomy class (who knew that class would be useful one day?), James and Sirius discovered Remus had a furry little problem that made him as mean as the girls in their class during their time of the month. James didn’t stop for a second to consider what having a werewolf as a best friend meant. He just saw it as his best friend was a werewolf. They needed Remus in their group because he was the one that made sure they never got into too much trouble. They started researching animagi, after learning about them in Transfiguration class. By the end of their fourth year, they learned how to transform. Check it, ladies, this boy is a stag.
Now in James’ fifth year, he laughs that he will need to toe the line because Remus is going to report them as a prefect. This year will have O.W.L.’s, not that James cares. No, this year will be the year he finally gets a date with Lily. The moment Remus said he was prefect, James started conducting a most ingenious plan that would start a friendship between Remus and Lily so she could see what a great guy he really was. It was failproof.

Hey, I'm Aly, and I've been roleplaying for 12 years.
roleplay sample: Elaine was livid. Elaine was heartbroken. Elaine was crestfallen and angry and disgusted. Elaine was a lot of negative adjectives, but since she did not carry a thesaurus in the pocket of her robes, she could not think of any other adjectives with which she could describe herself. The second she saw Kristen, she was going to lament her problems with the system. Everything was topsy-turvy. With this trouble starting at the beginning of term, who knew what else would happen? As if the world was not bad enough with You-Know-Who wandering around and killing people, now Elaine had bigger problems to face.
Where was Kristen? Elaine had been wandering the train, looking for her friend for her way too long. Where could the girl be? Elaine saw her at the prefect meeting. She wanted to talk to her about this upsetting problem, but her fellow nameless Ravenclaw prefect wanted to talk about something. Finally, Elaine found Kristen's compartment and let herself inside.
The speech Elaine had prepared disappeared. Instead of being suspenseful about her news, Elaine plopped in the seat opposite of Kristen and whined, "James Potter is Head Boy!" The statement felt sour on her tongue. It felt wrong. Elaine glared at the wall next to Kristen and continued, "That pig is supposed to represent us! He wasn't even a prefect! What does he know about running everything? Nothing! He'll make Lily do everything! Oh, What was Professor Dumbledore thinking? He wasn't. I bet you anything he tries to change the rule about punishing those found snogging during our rounds. He'll try to change it that whenever a boy is caught with a girl, he should be rewarded!" Elaine grunted and wished she had something to throw. Unfortunately, only her wand and some money currently resided in her pocket. Neither would be appropriate to throw.
Now would be the appropriate time for Elaine to ask Kristen about her summer was, but Elaine was too upset to be polite. She wanted to continue bashing Potter. That was why she sought Kristen in the first place. Kristen would understand how upset Elaine was. There would be plenty of time to be polite and find out how much Kristen studied over the summer.
