Filius sat at his desk and contemplated the pile of marked and graded assignments and homework in front of him with a smile. He’d just finished all of the assignment for the Second through Sixth Year students, and the First Years spent so much time on theory in class Flitwick had long ago decided against assigning loads of homework like some of his colleagues did, meaning that he could easily manage their essays over breakfast the next morning. The Seventh Years NEWT preparation theses weren’t due for another few months yet, and so Filius basked in the glorious feeling of having conquered the most notorious of foes for any teacher or professor – all the marking.
And just in time for the regular hour he set aside each day for his students to come and ask him for help or extension work. It sometimes had to happen, but Flitwick always felt bad whenever students had to be kept waiting for him to finish. Particularly awkward were those very rare occasions on which students came for tutoring and had to wait while he finished marking their own work.
Levitating the latest issue of Charms Monthly down from his bookshelf, Filius settled in to read about the latest discoveries regarding the Fidelius charm. He’d just settled into reading after a couple of minutes when there was a knock on the door. Looking up and setting down the journal for later consideration, Flitwick waved his wand and Unlocked the door.
”Come in,” He called, ”The door’s open.”

It wasn't that she had a problem with many of her classes, actually she did rather well in most of them, although Charms and Potions had to be her favorite. Which was precisely why she had come by the classroom. She only hoped that things would improve. This year, however, it being her fifth she had come to respect many of the Professors there, and Professor Flitwick was no exception. The reasons she had come today was so that she could learn more from him. Learning was what kept her happy, plain and simple.
Professor Flitwick was different compared to some of the others, but she had been sure of one thing that she would get as much out of his class, and the others as she could as she knew because she was a muggleborn that she had to be better than what others might expect of her. She had more to prove, but that didn't mean she was trying to show off as that was the last thing she wanted to do. She just wanted to learn.
She hadn't seen many of her friends as she had wandered down the halls, as she had exited the Gryffindor Common Room only a short time ago. She had just been wanting to listen in on his tutoring session, that was why she was there. Finally after what seemed like a very long time, she found herself standing outside of Professor Flitwick's classroom. Before she had a chance to even knock, she heard him say to come on in. She put her wand in the pocket of her robes and entered the class room. "Hello." She said, and a genuine warm smile appeared on her face. "I hope I'm not late Professor." She asked as she wasn't sure what time it was as she had been fairly distracted today.

As the door swung open Flitwick smiled when he saw Lily Evans waiting on the other side. She was one of his favourite students; bright and engaged and so clever that he sometimes thought the Sorting Hat might have put her in the wrong house by mistake. And the fact that she so openly enjoyed his subject and classes meant that he couldn't help but wish that she had been one of his Ravenclaws. Her greeting shook him out of his woolgathering, and he chuckled at her question.
"Not at all, Lily. In fact your timing could not have been more perfect," Flitwick's smile turned wry as he gestured at the piles of paper in front of him. "I had just finished marking for the day, so please - come in and take a seat."
Casting an eye around the room, Flitwick came slowly to the realization that there were no chairs on which for her to sit; like every other spare surface in the room, the armchairs that was usually kept on the other side of the desk was covered in several uneven and teetering stacks of books and parchments. He quickly Levitated the books off the chair and positioned it in front of his desk, then smiled apologetically at Lily.
"Now Lily, what is it you've come for today? Tutoring, tutelage, in pursuit of a new spell? How is it that I can help you?" Reaching under his desk, Flitwick pulled out his Self-Brewing Teapot, and prepared to make himself a cup.
"Tea?"

Stepping into the classroom, she could only smile. Professor Flitwick was one of her favorite professors, as he was the top one to go to for any help especially when Charms was involved. She had come just to listen to his lecture, and if questions arose then she would ask. As bright and engaged as she was, sometimes even she had questions regarding the class.
She still remembered the day she first entered Hogwarts, it had been a decision between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. But her heart had chosen Gryffindor and that was where she was placed. She had known that she must have caught him off guard when she greeted him. She was relieved when he had said she hadn't been late at all. She smiled. "I see you've been very busy professor." She said in a polite tone, and when he told her to come into the room, she did just that. She shut the door softly behind her. "Thank you." She spoke as she watched as he removed the papers from one of the arm chairs and invited her to sit in one. She accepted and sat down.
"Where is everyone?" The young Gryffindor asked as she pulled out her quill and ink and a bit of parchment paper. She couldn't help but be curious as usually the classroom was filled with at least a few students when she had arrived every other time. The seat she had been offered was sitting right across from his desk. "Well I was hoping to see if there were any new spells you could teach me about?" She spoke politely as she watched him grab his self-brew tepot. And watched as heprepared to make his own tea. "Yes please." She said as she enjoyed a good cup of tea, it was one thing she and her parents enjoyed drinking together.
