"NO!"
Emily spun around in the direction of the inhuman roar, fear exploding in the pit of her stomach as her eyes searched the darkness for the source. Her heart began wildly thumping against her chest, and she reached out for Marlene as her other hand dug around wildly in her robe for her wand. Before her right hand could grip Marlene's though Emily heard that dreaded word. The one word that could cripple you with fear, it was a word, a spell they all knew and her eyes widened as Marlene dropped to the floor and screamed out. The Cruciatus curse, and looking up Emily immediatley found it's caster, shaking her head she stepped forward raising her own wand in a trembling hand.
Before she could call out a hex/spell/curse of her own, Emily shrieked in pain and was thrown back away from the other girl and her friends, landing with a hard thud on the ground. Gasping she didn't move, fear crippled her into place for a moment, but soon her grip on her wand tightened, and with adrenaline pumping through her system she pushed herself up, wincing as her body ached from the spell. "Impedimenta!" she screamed, aiming her wand at the dark figure hovering over Marlene.
With grim satisfaction she watched as he shrieked and fell to the ground. "Lach we need to get out of here!" she shouted to her friend, moving forward, ignoring the warm trickle of blood as it seeped from a deep laceration on her forehead, probably caused by the fall. Before she could move even a few steps towards her friends though, her eyes could only watch in horror as another figure focused on her, "Lach..." she said his name quietly, they needed to get out of here and get help. Not taking her eyes off the other figure she raised her wand, cursing the tremble in her hand, "Don't move!"

“Carrow!” she screamed furiously, as she watched her fellow Death Eater abandon his hiding place and rush out into the clearing. What was he doing?! He hadn’t even waited until the four of them were fully in the clearing, what if the rest of them scarpered and went to get help? In hindsight, perhaps screaming out the name of one of her fellow attackers wasn’t the best idea, but if everything went smoothly, these four weren’t going to be in any fit state to remember their attackers when they were finished with.
Bella watched angrily as Evan ran out from their hiding place to be Amycus’s second. It looked like Bella was on her own. Of course, Alecto was supposed to be her second, it had all been planned, but she hadn’t turned up. Her eyes flashed angrily as she followed the lead of the two other Slytherins. Like sister like brother.
Her annoyance was momentarily forgotten as a piercing scream echoed around them. Her eyes immediately lit up at the sound that only one curse could produce. She noticed Amycus had been knocked to the ground, but she paid him little attention, her eyes were fixed on the trees around the edge of the clearing. It was a female voice that had cast the Impedimenta spell, which meant the others were still there. She pulled off the Death Eaters mask she has been wearing, and tossed it to one side. She wanted a better view of the forest around her. Bella heard the female voice again, desperate to escape the situation. She laughed loudly, producing an awful high pitched noise that was completely devoid of any real humour. “Come out, come out children,” she taunted, face twisted with malice and adrenaline. “We don’t bite.”

Cacking maniacally, Amycus continued to kick Marlene; in the ribs, in the stomach, in her lower back. This was just proving to be too much fun! But, as always, all good things had to come to an end. With the last breath taken out of him, Amycus was blasted to the forest floor in pain, having been shot in the back with the Impedimenta jinx. "Why you little...!" Amycus roared as he leapt to his feet, his back still throbbing from the pain.
In the distance, he heard Bellatrix call out to the rest of the people there. He could see Evan, in the distance, closing in on Precott, and Amycus' face lit up with glee. He stood by Bellatrix, his eyes scanning for the other two students. McKinnon was now out for the count, and so the hunt began to bring the other two students down...
"There," Amycus whispered hoarsely to Bellatrix, pointing in the direction of the quivering bushes a few feet away. Unless it was simply a bunny-rabbit, there was definitely a person behind there... He took a few steps in, readying himself to pounce.

- - - - - - - - - There was barely time to register what was going on, as one by one, the people around him dropped to the floor. Firstly, there was Marlene, who had let out an intense blood-curling shriek as the Cruciatus Curse was placed upon her fragile body. Then there was her attacker - tall, built like a brick, and covered in the colour black. Thirdly, Emily had been thrown from her feet, but had managed to get back up, and lastly; the tall, brooding male who had been the first attacker's second (dueling wise).
Almost unable to breathe, Lachlan faintly heard Emily call his name, telling him he needed to get out of the forest and away from this brutal attack. The colour had drained from his face, his knuckles turning a pale shade of grey. As a curvy black figure came storming towards him, Lachlan dove beneath the bushes, unable to breathe; a tremor of shock jolting through his body. What was happening?!
He clamped his hand down hard on his mouth, not letting himself breathe, in case the sound gave his position away. A sickly-sweet female voice coo'ed out to him and a second, gruff voice pointed out that Lachlan was in the bushes. This was it. He was going to die.
He had no time to run; no time to react. A shrill voice screamed out Crucio, and everything went dark.

THIS IS THE END. So far, Evan Rosier had been untouched. Prescott had mistaken Amycus for Evan, and so, Evan lingered towards the back of the clearing until the cowering badger in the bush had received his end of the deal. No screaming came from the Hufflepuff's throat, but from where Evan stood, it looked like the filthy mudblood had blacked out.
Smiling to himself, Evan strode forward towards Bellatrix and Amycus. There was only one more mudblood to go; Emily Prescott, fifth year Gryffindor. He made a hand motion to Bella and Amycus, signalling them to create a circle around Emily. Evan strode towards the back of the girl, and Amycus to the side, leaving one open spot for Bella to stand.
"Prescott," Evan hissed under his death-eater mask. "Fancy seeing you here." Evan felt powerful - alive. He flexed his muscles underneath his black robe and cracked his knuckles. "Lovely night for a stroll." He heard Amycus guffaw underneath the cloak next to him. All of her friends were gone - McKinnon, on the ground, bleeding to death, and Parker, blacked out under a bush [ ooc: Hestia's gone ]. He lifted his finger and thumb to Emily's chin, bringing her in closer to Evan with a forceful pull. "Say goodbye to your friends, Emily Prescott."
He nodded towards Bella, letting her know that she could now crucio the girl. After all, it was Bella's favourite and Evan was feeling in a particularly nice mood tonight.

Bella’s breathing was noticeably quicker than usual. Certainly not from overexertion, in fact, Bella had barely moved more than a few feet since the young Death Eaters had begun their attack. No, the excitement and adrenaline rushing through her veins was the cause of her altered breathing. And from the look of things, the blood traitors had already been dealt with; there was just one mudbood left.
Noticing Evan’s hand motion, she silently moved around the outside of the clearing, taking her position in the circle they had created around the Gryffindor. She was directly in front of Prescott, maybe slightly to the right, Amycus to her left and Evan standing opposite her behind the girl. She laughed alongside Amycus as Evan spoke to the girl, her laugh piercing the darkness. Unlike the other two, Bella wasn’t wearing her Death Eater mask, so it gave her the opportunity to glare down at Prescott, disgust clearly displayed on her face.
She noticed Evan’s nod, and once again raised her wand. She did not stop to wonder why Evan was allowing her to cast the final curse. No doubt it would haunt her mind later, but right now it was hardly her first priority. “CRUCIO!” she screamed, her eyes flashing as her curse struck the blond in front of her. The curse lasted longer than usual, all her maliciousness and vindictiveness directed into the one spell. There was a reason the Cruciatus Curse was her favourite, and that was because she fully understood the curse, she knew the exact frame of mind needed to make the curse as effective as possible.
Smirking, she turned to the two males on either side of her. “What do you think boys?” she asked teasingly, her eyes glinting, “Are we all finished here?”

Emily watched in sheer horror and terror as she became surrounded by their attackers. She frantically looked around for any sign of Lachlan, willing him to show himself, why hadn't he answered her when she called his name? Was he hurt too? No, she refused to think like that, hopefully he'd gone to get help, Lord knew they needed it. Emily could feel her heart thudding wildly inside her chest as her eyes darted to the three figures now surrounding her. Two of them she couldn't see, but the third, well the third was as clear as day, Bellatrix Black, a girl she both loathed and feared.
Emily found her attention forcefully pulled to someone else as a masked figure grabbed her chin and pulled her towards it. He told her to say goodbye to her friends and she quickly shrugged him off, tears brimming her eyes as she looked around. Her head was swimming from the knock she'd had before, all the adrenaline that had been so prominent only seconds before had wivered away causing a trembling to begin waging through her body. Seeing the figure nod to Bella, Emily felt her eyes widen and she looked towards the other girl as she looked straight at her, her eyes gleaming with malice and glee as she uttered that cursed word,
"Crucio"
Emily felt her entire body buckle as the spell hit her, and she let out a terrifying scream. There were no words to describe the pain tearing through her body, it was as if there were millions of knifes stabbing into her, it felt like she was being torn apart bit by bit, as though her entire body was on fire...all of it. Emily clawed at every part of bare skin she could reach, tearing at her hair as she willed the pain to stop. A raging fire was burning through her skin and she was sure she was going to die from the pain. It was never-ending, it felt like it had gone on for hours when she finally felt it stop.
A broken sound escaped her lips as she struggled to breath, unable to move Her body trembled, every nerve ending raw, damaged, the pain was still there. It hurt to breath so she tried not to, she couldn't even register the faint sound of voices...Emily just kept her eyes closed praying to whoever was listening.

The circle around Emily tightened and Amycus was ready to pounce. Two down, one to go. It was a pity that Alecto hadn't shown up, but it was far from Amycus' mind as he peered out from underneath the Death Eater mask onto the sight of the helpless young girl.
Amycus guffawed as Evan spoke softly to Emily, making tears well up in the mudblood's eyes. Evan nodded towards Bellatrix and Amycus could feel the excitement radiating out of the seventh year Slytherin. With one word, two syllables, Emily was writing in pain on the Forbidden Forest floor with no way up. Amycus laughed again and looked over to Evan for the next instructions. He wasn't running the show, but he was a hell of a lot more intelligent than Amycus was.
Emily began to twitch on the ground and Amycus, without word from either one of his fellow Death Eaters, decided it just wasn't enough. Almost forgetting his wand, he gave Emily the same treatment as McKinnon. Shadowing over her almost-limp body, Amycus delivered a hard kick to the girl's stomach. She wouldn't be getting up any time soon...

THIS IS THE END. Bella and Amycus had now had their way with Emily and Evan saw no more reason to partake in the night's events. He watched as the girl eventually grew limp on the ground. Stepping over her body to join his fellow Death Eaters, Evan pulled his mask off. "We're done." he said simply, turning on his heel to make his way out of the forest.
As he briskly walked throughout the trees, he tapped himself on the head with his wand, creating the Disillusionment charm and camouflaging Evan with his forest surroundings. As the others followed his lead, he led them towards Hagrid's Hut. "We need to wipe our wands." His voice was low and stern; he knew what he was doing. And it would be best for the three of them if there was no evidence to be found. He took Amycus' wand first and placed it in the palm of his hand.
"Deletrius."
The wand gave off a faint glow before turning back to normal. He motioned for Bella's wand and did this same. Borrowing Amycus' wand, he performed the same spell on his own wand. "There. Now, we go back."He wondered who would find the students and if any of them would recognise the three Death Eaters as the ones who performed the attack. But, as he slipped in through the front doors of Hogwarts, Evan hardly cared.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Some time later... Flitwick stood stock still, heart-racing at a million miles an hour as he stared frantically at the sight in front of him. He struggled to think, to breathe; mind reeling in a thousand and one directions as he tried to marshal his thoughts and make order of what he saw before him but willing his eyes to be deceiving him and for this to be some sick mistake. It was a scene straight out of his nightmares, and for a moment he went for his wand to banish the Boggart lying before him – it had to be a Boggart, because if it wasn’t then those were his students, his children crumpled in the dirt on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, bloodied and bruised and with the unmistakeable tang of Dark Magic hanging so thick in the air that Filius felt he could choke on it.
A disbelieving laugh forced its way out of Flitwick’s strangled throat. He’d come out here for his weekly chat and cup of tea with Hagrid; to catch up with his gruff but good-natured friend who was among the few people who could empathize with the frustrations that came with being half-other in a society obsessed with blood purity.
Instead he’d found three of his students lying on ground stained with blood and malice and the foulest of magics in the heart of a castle that was supposed to be a place of learning, a home - a sanctuary. Fighting back the sudden rage that came bubbling up inside him – rage that he hadn’t felt since he’d first drawn blood and looked inside himself to find that he’d enjoyed it – Filius buried the voice urging him to find those who had hurt and tortured his children and wring justice out of their hides in blood and bone and exquisite agony, and pulled out his wand.
Shutting down the whirling maelstrom of grief and rage and guilt and sorrow that was boiling up inside him, Flitwick centred himself and reached for memories of joy instead. They lasted but an instant before the storm inside him rose again, but it was long enough to set an albino coursing hound off seeking Albus with a flick of his wand, his Patronus covering ground as fast as thought as it vanished towards the castle.
A sweeping gesture of Flitwick’s wand Preserved the area and all its traces of what had occurred and placed the students under a Stasis charm, cutting them off from pain and fear and placing them outside of time for long enough to get them to Madame Pomfrey or, he thought darkly to himself, St Mungo’s.
And then Filius was left standing in helpless silence as tears started to drip down his cheeks, unable to do anything further to help the students he had so badly failed and wondering how he’d been so blind as to allow such evil as could have done this to breed under his very nose.
