Finally reaching the top of the astronomy tower, Emily blew out a breath and shook her head. Five years in and she still thought it ridiculous the amount of stairs you had to climb just to get to the top of this tower. Shaking her head, she dropped her bag by the ledge and kicked off her shoes, placing them neatly beside her bag as she looked around. Deeming she was alone, Emily finally smiled and felt herself completely relax, it wasn't too late, she'd just come from dinner, hence why it had been so easy to sneak off.
Normally she wasn't one to go seeking out alone time, but there were sometimes when it was nice just to get away from the hustle and bustle of school life and relax alone. The sun had long since set and the sky was growing steadily darker, as Emily sat down, allowing her legs to dangle over the ledge. Opening her bag, she pulled out a sketch pad and pencil and opened it up to the first blank page she could find.
Sketching wasn't something she liked to indulge on all the time, preferring instead to enjoy a good book, but there were times she craved the outlet sketching provided her. Biting down on her lip she looked out across the amazing view laid out in front of her and smiled softly. One would thing, simply by looking out at the view that there was currently nothing wrong with the world today, she knew different however. Closing her eyes she found an image in her head and smiled again. Opening her eyes she looked down at the blank page and began sketching. For once it was peaceful, calming, and best of all there was no one to disturb her, at least that's what she'd hoped...

The day was finally coming to an end and frankly, Chase was fed up. He’d had another day of being nagged at by various Professors about the importance of studying hard for OWLs at the end of the year. He’d also been given detention from Flitwick for not doing his homework… again. But he just didn’t care. Right now, all that he had on his mind was ‘I’ve got to get away for a bit’. Something steered him towards the stairs when he finished his dinner and he kept following in them, up and up and up. Eventually, he found himself faced with the stairs leading up to the astronomy tower. Memories of previous visits to the Astronomy tower came to mind. Obviously, when he went there for class he had to concentrate a little, but every time he’d been when it didn’t involve lessons, it had certainly involved a girl. Even when he’d intended to go there on his own he’d still ended up meeting someone there. He grinned. What were the chances he’d keep up his lucky streak today? Apparently, quite high! He had to bite his lip not to jump up and whoop as he sighted the gorgeous Gryffindor girl from his year. Emily. They’d had a few lessons together over the years but he’d never really talked to her much. Now he’d seen her here he intended to change that. She was sitting on the ledge with her feet dangling over the edge, concentrating on something in front of her, her back to him. He grinned devilishly and crept towards her as quietly as possible. ”BOO!” His hands grabbed her waist from behind as he shouted. As much as he wanted to have a bit of fun and make her jump he sure didn’t want to see her fall off the edge.

Emily was so deeply focused on the sketch in front of her that she didn't even here someone else enter the Astronomy Tower, or hear their footsteps as they began to creep towards her. Biting down on her lip she smiled at the way the sketch was turning out, and just as she went to put the pencil to the paper, there was a loud yell and two unfamiliar hands gripping her waist tightly.
Emily gasped, one hand gripping her pad as the other instinctively latched onto the hands around her waist, the ones that had effectively stopped her from jumping over the edge. Quickly gathering herself, Emily put the pad on her bag, and roughly pushed the hands off her as she clambered to stand up, stumbling into the other body slightly in her haste. When she was fully rightened she looked at the culprit and narrowed her eyes, "You do realise that was stupid don't you! I could have bloody well gone over the edge..." she growled, resisting the urge to shove the person.
Of course she recognized him instantly, he was Chase Connors, the guy was often the topic of gossip amongst her dorm friends. Personally she'd never spoken to him. Shaking her head, Emily released a breath, her heart rate finally slowing down to a normal pace before she looked at him again, "Think yourself lucky I didn't hex you bud..." she said, shooting him a small smile. It seemed impossible for her to stay mad at anyone, it was one thing about herself she disliked. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she turned to settle back down on the floor, closing her pad and slipping it into her bag, "You often go around frightening girls like that?" she asked over her shoulder as she closed her bag, a teasing tone to her voice.

Chase was slightly disappointed that he only managed a gasp from her – he’d been hoping for a shriek or something. She had instinctively grabbed at his hands around her waist before pushing him away from her and standing up. She stumbled as she stood and knocked into him because he’d only taken a small step away from her. He tried so hard not to laugh at her ‘annoyed’ look but he couldn’t stop the smile that broke through. She was cute, even when she was calling him stupid. ”That’s why I didn’t just shout boo, babe. Give me some credit, I did keep hold of you.” He winked at her and grinned. ”I saved your life, you know it.”She shook her head and told him he was lucky she hadn’t hexed him. At least she said it with a smile, and he sent one back. ”I might have enjoyed that.”She turned away to put her things away into her bag, tucking her hair behind her ear as she did. Chase paid little attention to the sketch she’d been drawing and instead chose to check her out. He bit back a groan. The way she crouched gave him a great view of her backside. Stepping very slightly to the side and closer let him peer over her shoulder and gave him a clear view straight down her top. Hormones that had previously been playing nice flared up and there was, once again, only one thing on Chase’s mind. He wanted to flirt. He wanted to snog, and make out, and grope… any maybe more. He made up his mind to do everything he could to convince this lovely blond to have a bit of fun. He snapped back to attention, looking up at her face when she turned around as asked him in a teasing voice whether he usually went around frightening girls. He grinned back at her and hoped that she hadn’t noticed he’d been peering down her top. He cast her one of his killer smiles that usually made girls swoon and winked again. ”Well to be perfectly honest. I’m more of a fun loving guy than a frightening one. You’re more likely to find me surprising girls with unexpected kisses and dragging them into broom closets.”His mind was screaming hot hot hot hot hot, while his eyes tried to stay focused on her face. ”Why? Would you rather be one of my snog victims?” He crouched down next to her, closer than he should have been and invading her space. She was caught between him and the ledge. Just where he wanted her.

Emily just laughed at Chase as he claimed to have just saved her life. There was the obvious point that if she had fallen it would have been his fault so he didn't really help in any way, however she kept her mouth closed and didn't respond, just shook her head. Chase really was living up to his name as he continued to flirt with her, but with the guys she hung out with, Emily was used to it by now so at the moment it didn't phase her. She knew how to hold her own against guys like Chase, Lach, Sirius etc.
As he continued to talk, Emily rolled her eyes, tucking her dress beneath her as she sat down again on the ledge. Her eyes drifting once more to the scenery. So much for peace and quiet she thought to herself, though she didn't mind really. Chase seemed like he could be an alright guy, a bit of a flirt, a player, but a good guy nonetheless. He shot her a smile that probably made most girls weak at the knees, and gave her a wink. Emily raised an eyebrow, looking at him in amusement as he began to tell her the kind of guy he was, he sure did like to talk.
He was focused on her face and it was only when he crouched down beside her, the smile on Emily's face faltered slightly. He was close, way too close, obviously he had no idea what personal space was, or he did and simply didn't care. As of right now she was caught between Chase and the ledge, there was really no room to move and Emily didn't like that. Looking at him she shifted slightly, so her body was facing his a bit more, "Okay firstly, my names Emily not babe..." she told him.
"Secondly, it'll take more than a smile and a little flirting for me to fall into your arms..." Emily smiled at him, lifting her hand she pushed on his chest gently, creating some distance between them, "And thirdly keep out of my personal space unless informed you can do otherwise." she said, letting her hand drop from his chest. She was highly amused by Chase, she wasn't annoyed or anything like that, just amused.

He saw her smile falter slightly as he crouched beside her but didn’t let it deter him. He was a man with a mission after all. She moved around lightly as she began to list off things. First, about her name. He laughed. He’d expected that one. ”Sure thing, babe.” Secondly she told him it would take more than flirting for him to get her and he was sure she could see the spark in his eyes when he realized he had a challenge on his hands. It was one that he was certainly willing to accept. ”I’ll just have to try harder then, wont I?”She put a hand on his chest and pushed him back gently, and he didn’t resist. Even as she told him to stay out of her space she had a smile on her face. He pulled an exaggerated face as if he was deeply considering his options then sighed dramatically. ”I suppose I can do that, but don’t blame me if I just happen to… slip closer to you.” He let the hand that he had rested on the wall between them slide closer to her in a mock fall and he leaned in close to her again, winked, blew her a small kiss, then righted himself again, moving back from her. ”Oops" He grinned. ”I slipped, babe. He was really enjoying flirting with the challenging girl. She sure could hold out her own better than most.

Emily bit back the urge to hex him off the tower as he called her babe. For now she'd ignore it because she was enjoying the banter but he'd have to be warned away from here not to call her that. "Try as hard as you want sweetie, I doubt it'll make a difference." she said with a shrug of her shoulders, brushing away a lock of hair as it blew into her face. She smiled sweetly at Chase before looking away from him, the sky was dark now and the stars were appearing, a favourite past time of hers was to stare at them.
Chase pulled a face, telling her not to blame him if he just happened to slip closer to her. As she turned to reply, he let his hand slip between them so he moved a little closer, shooting her a wink and blowing a kiss before he leaned back. Emily chuckled and shook her head, "Well in that case don't blame me if I end up placing you in the hospital wing...so be careful, wouldn't want to damage that pretty face of yours now would we..." she replied, tapping his cheek gently before laughing lightly and looking away from him again.
Resting her hands on her lap, she shifted slightly so she was leaning against the wall and she looked back at Chase. If he was intending on sticking around she supposed it only polite to try and get to know him...and no not like that. "So what brings you up here this late? Late night booty call?" she asked sarcastically, smiling at him. It was no secret amongst the girls in her year that this is where he and some of the girls he fooled about with came to hang out, she just hoped it wasn't the case here. The last thing she wanted to do right now was return to a dorm of cackling girls.

She really was going to be a challenge! And it only made him want her more. Though, he wasn’t too keen on being called ‘sweetie’, but that was what he got for calling her babe. ”Oh, I will, gorg. I will.” He glanced at the sky for a constellation he recognized, and saw Sirius, the Dog Star. He grinned, knowing the two of them were friends. ”Sirius assures me you’ll change your mind quickly enough.” He kept his eyes on the sky as he said it, leaving it open for interpretation. When he leaned back away from her she echoed his words, but changed them to say he might accidently end up in the hospital wing, and told him to be careful. She tapped his cheek before looking away. ”Pretty, huh? I’d prefer… handsome, personally. Sounds a bit more manly than pretty, you know?”Emily asked him why he was there and if it was for a late night booty call. He grinned at her. ”Originally, no. It was to escape from another day of nagging and detentions. But you see, there was this girl. I think she was blond. Maybe a Gryffindor. She was real cute and kept flirting with me and… well, my motives may have changed a little.” He leaned in and whispered in her ear, ”I don’t suppose you can guess who that sexy babe was…” He was trying to hard not to grab her and snog her senseless right then and there on the floor, but he didn’t doubt that he would end up on the receiving side of a hex if he tried. She wasn’t… convinced enough yet. There was plenty of time left for that, of course.

"What would Sirius Black know..." she scoffed shaking her head slightly, causing her blonde curls to dance over her shoulders. Black barely knew her, annoyed her yes, but knew her? No! Instead of saying anything more on the subject though she left it at that. "Nope I'm sticking with pretty." she told him with a shrug, smiling at him. Emily usually got pleasure out of calling Lachlan pretty, he too preferred the more manly description.
As he began to answer her origional question, Emily turned to look at him better. As she listened a frown began to etch it's way onto her face before she chuckled and rolled her eyes, flirting really...Emily sure as hell didn't think that's what she was doing at this particular moment. Chase then leaned in a lot closer than she'd told him he could and whispered in her ear. "I have no idea...I'll be sure to warn her though should I see her." she smiled again, using her hand to gently push him back creating the semblance of distance between them once more.
Flicking the button of his shirt, Emily looked at him. Standing up she stepped around Chase to lean against the railings, peering over the edge of the tower, her stomach giving an uncomfortable turn when she saw how far up they were. "Well your motives with me, they better stay in check Mr Connors, if you know what's good for you that is." Emily said, turning around to lean back against the railings as she crossed her arms over her chest.

[img src=" ”Who said I was talking about Black? You’re being very presumption, darlin’.” He droned the darlin’ in an annoying tone. She’d soon be begging for the babe over the darlin’. He watched her face as he told his tale as it went from a frown to realization of what he was talking about. She pushed him back away from her and pretended she didn’t know who he was talking about. Chase grinned. ”Sure thing, Darlin’. You best warn her that the games have only just begun.”She flicked the button of his shirt before standing up and walking around him to lean on the railing. Still sitting, he looked up at her, and as she turned around and told him to keep his motives in check with her he gently ran one finger up the back of her leg, up her calf, behind her knee, and thigh, stopping before he earned himself a trip to the hospital wing. He pushed himself up and stepped out of reach before she could reply, placing himself between her and the door. He waited to gauge her reaction before moving back in closer.

"Well just for the record, I don't play games...if we're being honest." she said seriously, flirting was one thing but that was as far as she'd go. As she felt his finger trace it's way up her leg, Emily didn't move and fought against the urge to grab her wand and hex him so badly he'd have to be sent to St Mungo's. It was game, that was all and she wasn't about to pull a Lily and flip out, she could handle a little teasing. Looking down at him she arched an eyebrow, "When your finished..." she said shortly, watching as he stood up.
Emily kept her eyes trained on him, not missing the fact he was stood between her and the door. Whatever game he was playing he sure was going to lose. "You know other guys have ended up sorry for doing less than that..." she told him, the only guy who ever got away with teasing her was Lach, but that was when they were dating and it had never escalated to anything. Biting her lip she smiled and shook her head, tempted to give in to the game and play him but that would not end well for either of them she doubted.
Though what was the harm in a little fun, it's not like anyone would know....no, no, she wouldn't go down that road she decided. "Do you not have any friends you could go hassle? Your Hufflepuff right, friends with Lachlan, can you not go play with him?" she asked, though if she was right she could see why those two got on so well, she knew Lach would be horrified to see what was happening now. They were best friends, and only friends but he was way too protective.

He chose not to respond to her comment about not playing games. He didn’t want to get into it. She could call it whatever she wanted. He stood and stepped away from her after trailing his finger up her leg. ”Hmm, yep. I think I’m finished.” He looked her up and down. For now.”She told him that others had ended up sorry for less than what he had done and he took that as a positive. ”But I’m irresistible so I can get away with it, Darlin’.” He gave her another of her well practiced charming smiles. At her next comment a huge grin split his face. ”Well, I suppose I could go play with Lachlan. I hear he’s quite…” He made a gesture with his hands and winked at her, ”sizable. But honestly, I can think of better people to play with”He stepped closer, willing to take his chances. He kept eye contact with her trying to predict her reaction and hoping that just this once she’d choose to not hex someone who made a move on her. He slipped an arm around her waist, not pulling her press to him, leaving some distance. He didn’t want that hex, or for her to run away. He voted on the very forward approach and said seriously, ”Like you, perhaps. Not giving her time to think, he kissed the end of her nose. He wasn’t about to dive in and ram him tongue down her throat just yet.

”But I’m irresistible so I can get away with it, Darlin’.”
Emily frowned slightly at Chase, watching him finish with a charming smile. "And your incredibly modest..." she said sarcastically, trying to remember if she'd ever met any one like him. Each time she came up blank. Chase certainly was coming off as one of a kind, he was incredibly confident, his ego needed deflating slightly she figured but other than that he was probably an alright guy to hang out with and call a friend.
As he spoke of Lachlan, Emily felt her eyes narrow slightly before a blush filled her cheeks. Personally she didn't know how sizable Lachlan was and had no more intentions of finding out. "How lovely...I'm sure he'll be thrilled to hear you saying that..." she chuckled, shaking her head in amusement before stopping when she realised Chase had moved so he was now stood in front of her again. Before she could open her mouth to tell him to back up again however, his arm went around her waist, holding her in place.
He kissed her nose and she scrunched it up when he pulled away, an unconscious reaction. Okay now that was way into her personal space, but instead of reprimanding him she looked up at him and raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms over her chest. "Is this the part I fall into your arms and kiss you senseless?" she asked, a smile tugging at her lips. A part of her actually tempted to do just that and catch him off guard but she didn't, guess you could say the sensible side of her kept her in check.

Her sarcasm oozed so thick he could practically see it puddling on the ground. ”Oh most definitely.” He couldn’t help but laugh when he saw her blush and at the same time, he couldn’t help but think of how cute she looked. Damn she was getting to him. He really needed to keep himself in control of his body or she’d have a reason to run away. Probably prodding her in the stomach is she was any closer than she already was as he leaned in and kissed her nose. Her nose scrunched up slightly making her look twice as cute. But, she didn’t hex him! In fact, all she did was cross her arms over her chest and raise an eyebrow. He was really encouraged at the fact she didn’t even push him away this time. He saw the smile tugging at her luscious lips and he really had to fight not to crush his to hers. ”In an ideal world, yes, now would be that time.” His breathing was fast and shallow and he could hardly take his eyes off her mouth. ”You’re already in my arms so in reality, babe, you only need to do the kissing senseless part.”

Emily laughed lightly and rolled her eyes before she shook her head and looked back up at Chase. She knew he was being serious despite the playful tone to his voice, mainly due to the fact he had yet to relinquish his hold on her. The part of her she never let come out to play was urging her on to kiss the boy in front of her, it was a little fun there was no harm in it but again, the sensible side of her personality won out, same as it always did.
Sighing quietly she slowly reached behind her, taking his hand and removing it from around her waist, shooting him a small smile as she did. "I'm sorry bud...Gryffindor's golden girl remember..." she told him with a teasing glint, "I'm not going to be another notch for anybody..." she added seriously. Maybe she should judge but she was simply going on the reputation Chase had earned himself and as much fun as she was having she wouldn't be another conquest for him on the top of the tower, as tempting as that actually was.
Biting down on her lip, she shrugged her shoulder and figured a little fun was okay, but she wasn't going to give him what he wanted. Reaching up she fisted the front of his shirt in her hand, her other hand going to his shoulder as she leaned up to whisper in his ear, "Plus where's the fun in making it that easy for you...?" she asked playfully, pulling back to shoot him a wink before stepping around him. With a satisfied smile she moved over to her shoes to slip them back on. "Curfews up in another half hour." she called over her shoulder.
