As James pulled back from the kiss he looked to Lily's face, trying to gauge a reaction from here. There seemed to be a thousand different emotions flickering across her face all at once and he didn't quite know whether they were the good kind or the bad, but she wasn't screaming and shouting at him yet, so that had to be a good sign. James spoke first to break the silence that hovered between them.
"Normal? The human race really is screwed then..."
He placed his lips over hers again, unable to keep away from her now he'd tasted her on his lips once. He couldn't resist leaning in for a second. The first hadn't lasted nearly long enough. How many times had he wondered what it'd be like to kiss this beautiful girl? And here was his chance. He'd be a fool to pass up this opportunity.
He felt Lily's body relax and even lean into him as she returned the kiss. To say that he was shocked would probably be an understatement, but he tried not to let it show, instead slowed the kiss down, trying to convey a message to her in that simple action. He didn't see her as 'just another girl' like she thought he did, but he wouldn't believe him if he said it in words, but maybe he could try and tell her how he felt in a kiss. Actions spoke louder than words, right?
After a few long moments he pulled back just a fraction so that there was enough space between their lips for him to whisper a response to her previous statement. "Really, really screwed..." He didn't leave that distance there too long before his lips were back on hers. One hand move to cup her face, lightly pushing her hair back out of her face, while the other rested on her waist. "Lily..."

What the hell are you doing? Lily's subconscious screamed at her, but the red head couldn't formulate an answer of any kind that could help justify her actions right now. She was kissing James Potter. James Potter and to cap it all off she was enjoying it, immensely so to be exact. It was almost as though she'd been transported into an Alternate Universe. Switching off her brain Lily felt her body giving into the kiss completely, betraying her mind and her feelings towards James, which in themselves were quickly becoming distorted. Sure the burning dislike and anger she always associated with him was there but there was also something else, something as of right now she couldn't put her finger onto, nor did she want to.
Lily felt something in the kiss changing, still heated, yet slower, more passionate if that was even possible. Lily felt her stomach twisting in a pleasant way as she found herself becoming lost within this moment. She made a slight sound of protest when James broke the kiss just a fraction to agree with her earlier comment, and before she could formulate any sort of response his lips were over hers once more. She couldn't think, couldn't focus on anything that wasn't James at this moment, the way his hand lightly brushed her red hair from her face and his other gently cradled her waist. It was almost like he thought she was the most delicate thing on the Earth and for a moment she allowed herself to pretend that this was real, and he was a guy she could seriously fall in love with.
"Lily..."
His voice, the way her name sounded coming from him right now sent a shiver down her spine and caused her heart to beat erratically inside her chest. Her hands were against his chest and she could feel the strong beating of his heart beneath her hands, but the sound of her name also caused a flicker of reality to set in and the red head didn't move back into the kiss, though nor did she pull away from him, "This shouldn't be happening..." she said slightly breathless, caught between James and the wall, her eyes flickering down to his lips, still caught in the haze of what had just happened, part of her really didn't want it to end. One more kiss couldn't hurt right, though the last thing she wanted was to lead James on, "James..."

Was this actually real? Was this really happening? How many times had he sat and wondered to himself what it would be like if he ever got to kiss Lily? Too many times to count, and this was definitely better than anything he could have thought in all of those ponderings.
James couldn't help it - he muttered her name against her lips. Part of him was really struggling to believe that this was who he thought it was. It seemed so strange that after all the fighting and arguing and name calling, he was actually here kissing the one girl he wanted the most.
"This shouldn't be happening..."
James had moved to close that small distance between them again but paused at her words, unsure what to do, but not wanting to end things at all.
"James..."
James moved the hand that had been against her cheek so that his thumb brushed over her lips, and he made a shushing sound. "Don't." He didn't want this to end just yet and for them to go back to bickering at each other. "Close your eyes. Don't think about it."
James moved in closer again, waiting until he was just a hairbreadth away from her lips before stopping, whispering against them so close he could feel her lips under his as he spoke. "Picture anyone you want..." It kind of stung just to say those words himself, but he'd settle for it. Maybe there was someone that she really liked or something, and he knew that he definitely wasn't that someone. He just didn't want this kiss to end and if this was what it would take to get her to stay where she was with him, then fine.

"Don't. Close your eyes. Don't think about it."
Lily looked up into James's eyes, as he shushed her, his thumb brushing over her lips lightly. There was no denying the lightening sparks that shot through her at his words, his touch, his kisses all of it. To think this was James Potter igniting such feelings inside her made her confused, this wasn't supposed to happen, not with him but she couldn't deny she wanted this. She wanted to kiss him, she didn't want their little moment to end, and she didn't want to think about what happened once they got out of this cupboard. Right now this was their own little world, what happened out there didn't matter.
"Picture anyone you want..."
She'd closed her eyes like instructed but a frown settled onto her face as they opened again. He wanted her to picture someone else if that's what it took for this to carry on. There was no denying how bad that made her feel, he liked her and he was willing to settle for her pretending he was someone else if it meant they could carry on. Biting down on her lip her hands slipped up from his chest, her fingers lightly grazing his cheeks before she leaned closer to him, their lips brushing. "James..." she said his name ever so softly, not needing to picture anyone else. One hand slipped to the back of his head, threading through his hair, as her body pressed to his and she kissed him a little more deeply.

James tried not to think about the words he'd just said or what they meant, and instead just tried to focus on the fact that he was getting kissing Lily. He felt her pause before her hand slid up from his chest to his cheek, and tried not to let it get to him - she'd picked whoever it was she wanted to image it seemed, and it was someone she wanted to be closer to them him.
James let his eyes drift open to hers, just in time to see her own eyes closing again, and hear her say his name softly, before closing that distance between them. What did that mean? What did it mean that she'd said his name? He didn't want to think about it, and he tried to force away the feeling of hope that flickered to life somewhere inside him.
He felt her fingers thread through his hair, and his arm wrapped tighter around her waist, tugging her until she was flush against him. One hand brushed her hair back from he face before he let his fingers lace through hers, too, putting his and between her head and the wall as he leaned into her, pressing her back against the wall. There was hardly any space between them, but nor did he want there to be. This kiss was deeper than what they'd shared earlier and it was sending strange sparks through him. He couldn't help a soft moan and he slid his arm all the way around her waist so there was absolutely no space between them, but he still didn't break away from the kiss.

The arm around her waist pulled her close to him, her body flush up against his own leaving practically no space between them. There was denying that his touch was doing things to her, sparking something awake deep inside her. Lily felt her back press against the wall once more leaving her trapped between it and James's body, the two of them pressed against each other in a very intimate manner, kissing deeply. There was something more heated about this kiss, something in the air changing between them, she could feel it as her hands gripped his shoulder firmly. When he released a soft moan, Lily sighed softly her skin feeling as though it was on fire, and she was reluctant to stop, to pull away.
Though as if on queue, there was a noise outside the room as something or someone banged into the door making Lily break from the kiss. Struggling to catch her breath her eyes locked with James's before looking at the door, her hands slipping down from his shoulders to rest on the biceps of his arm. "There's someone there..." she said, just as she heard the handle turning and she easily slipped out of James's embrace, immediately mourning the loss of his touch, his arms around her, the feel of his lips over hers. Shaking her head she touched her lips and looked at James, her heart pounding wildly in her chest and for the first time with James Potter she had absolutely no idea what to say.

Something made a noise outside of the cupboard door and he felt Lily jump, then break away from the kiss, and just briefly, their eyes locked.
"There's someone there..."
No sooner had she said it than did someone reach for the handle on the out side of the door, and before he knew it Lily was gone from his arms. The swarmed in around him, cold compared to the heat from her body.
James watched as Lily touched her lips before turning to look at him, and he just stared back at her, willing her to come back into his arms again. "Lil-"
The door opened and two students all but fell into the closet, attached at the lip and clearly not thinking about anything else but themselves. James reached for Lily's arm and tugged her out of the way as the two students piled into the small space. How the two of them didn't notice that they weren't alone James would never no, but with a motion to Lily to stay silent, he placed a hand on her lower back and nudged her towards the door. God! Get him out before the clothes started coming off! Too late... they already had.
Sucking in his breath, James managed to squeeze past the smooching pair and out into the hallway after Lily, and he quickly closed the door on the two students who were now half naked and making more noise that James really needed to hear. Was her down...? No. That didn't matter.
Reaching for Lily's hand James tugged her into a jog down the corridor until they were around the corner from the broom cupboard, before he pulled her closer to him and let out the laughter he'd been trying so hard to keep in until they were out of ear shot. "Thank god for that! We nearly became their mattress." Not something that would have been all too pleasant, that's for sure.
Looking down, James's expression sobered up and he looked to Lily, eyes flicking down to her lips again and back up. "So..." Now what?

Lily's hand fell from her mouth as she leaned down to pick up her bag, her mind racing a thousand miles an hour now. That though didn't stop her from looking highly affronted and mortified and down right angry when a young couple burst into the cupboard, so tightly locked they didn't even notice James and Lily stood there. Her mouth fell open and she frowned, her hand going to hip as she opened her mouth to start reprimanding the couple, but with the way James moved she had to move forward and squeeze out the cupboard. She turned, every intention of following through with her prefect duties when James shut the door on the half naked couple, grabbed her hand and tugged her with him into a jog down the corridor until they rounded a corner.
Really she hadn't wanted to go but he'd left her with no choice, when they came to a stop he pulled her closer a little and her mind immediately flashed to what they'd just been doing in the cupboard and she felt her whole body heat up. Not even his laughter seemed to annoy her, and that was confusing. Now they weren't locked up together, and she had an escape her senses were flooding back to her and she felt a hot wave of embarrassment wash over her for getting so caught up with her hormones. "It's terrible..." she said to his comment on them almost becoming a mattress for the couple.
When he looked down at her she felt her heart begin to beat wildly in her chest once more, and when his eyes went to her lips, her own went to his. Clearing her throat Lily stepped back out of his embrace and took a step back out of reach. "Look James...what happened...it was..." she paused, brushing her hair back from her face and straightening her robes, her cheeks a light shade of pink. "I'm not calling it a mistake but..it shouldn't have happened...can we just you know, keep it between us? Please?" she asked softly.

What did this mean for them now? Now, after everything that had just happened before those two students decided to gatecrash their moment. Surely she wasn't about to keep hating him like she always had, but he wondered just how much things might change.
James leaned in to kiss her again but before he had a chance Lily quickly stepped out of his grasp. Before she even said anything James knew that really, nothing had changed. He felt a twinge inside of him. He should have known that this would happen but once, just once, he'd have liked to believe that things could happen differently.
"Look James...what happened...it was..."
Lily wasn't even looking at him and he knew exactly what she was going to say. "Don't..." His words were hardly more than a whisper, but it didn't matter, Lily said the words anyway.
"I'm not calling it a mistake but..it shouldn't have happened...can we just you know, keep it between us? Please?"
For several long minutes they just stood there, and James couldn't look away from her as he struggled to work out what to say. Eventually, he just said it. "Why shouldn't it have happened? Why is the idea of me so appalling to you that anything between us becomes so... taboo? It's like I - I disgust you or something..." There were so many questions racing around in his head but he reigned them in, not wanting to completely bombard her with them. He reached for her wrist with one hand while the other went quickly to her chin, forcing her to look at him. It brought them closer again, but he really wanted to know what it was that she hated about him so much. "Lily, please."

The silence was killing her and she wanted nothing more than to run back to her room in the tower, hide under her bedclothes and try and forget every glorious kiss in that closet. Her body, her heart, they'd all betrayed her, caused her to give into him and she'd enjoyed it, craved it even more which confused the red head considerably, she'd never felt like that before. As he spoke she sighed softly and looked down to the floor, feeling her eyes glaze over with tears, she hated to think she was messing with his emotions but really that's what she was doing. Claiming she disliked him and would never touch him all the time and then she'd practically just almost given herself to him completely in the closet, forget confusing him she was confusing the hell out of herself.
When he tugged her closer by her wrist the familiar sparks from his touch shot through her and she swallowed, closing her eyes against them. Finally though when he touched her chin forcing her to look at him she sighed softly. "You don't disgust me James, I don't hate you...I hate that you think that it's just...we're different. We are from two completely different worlds, we fight all the time, I follow the rules you, do everything you can to break them..." running her tongue over her lip she took the hand he held under her chin in her own hand and moved it away, not letting go of him though, "This...thing, what happened in that closet I'll admit it shocked me. I like you James, I do but that...it wouldn't work outside here, we're too different..." she said lamely, letting go of his hand and waiting for him to let go of her. Really she felt a strong reluctance to leave but who was she kidding, it wouldn't work, they were too different and deep down Lily knew he only wanted her because he couldn't have her, chances were if they got together he'd bore quickly and she was in no rush to have anything like that happen.

"You don't hate me but you spend every chance you get telling me all the things you don't like about me? I'm not going to lie, Lily, your words bite." He didn't like to admit that at times words could affect him, but truth was, they could. Some of the things and insults that Lily threw his way really stung, and they seemed really, really harsh. Insults from Slytherins he could shrug off as stubborn house rivalry, but from her? It was different. "How do you know we're too different if you won't even try? Haven't you ever heard of the whole 'opposites attract' thing?"
He didn't really know why he was bothering. Despite how good things had been in that closet, now they were out of there she'd clearly made up her mind, and it seemed that, as usual, there was nothing that he could say that would ever change her mind.
Lily dropped his hand but he didn't really want to admit defeat just yet. But what could he do? Nothing that he could say would change her mind. Nothing seemed to work. But he just...he just didn't want to give up just yet. He wanted her, and only her. She was the girl he had his sights on but she was the one girl who just slipped between his fingers. "Kiss me."

Lily sighed softly and ran her fingers through her red locks as James spoke. Did she really insult him that much? Maybe, but he didn't exactly make it easy to like him most of the time, he'd pretty much been a jerk to her with all the pranks since first year. Even this year, she still got caught up in his pranks, he'd try and charm her, ask her out but then there he was revelling in the attention every other girl in the school lavished on him. Did she really want to like a guy who would more than likely, despite his protests, despite how much he says he's likes her, would likely drop her when someone prettier came along. Hang on, why was she even thinking like this?
"Opposites attract yeah, but nine times out of ten James those things crash and burn and I'm not willing to put myself in that kind of position. I don't have time...to be with anyone I have school and you may not take that seriously James but I do. School is important to me...I just...I can't..." she trailed off clueless and sighed, ignoring the way everything in her seemed to protest against what she was saying. There'd been a spark in that kiss right, something potent and real between her and James in that moment, in that closet, or had she imagined it all?
Did it even matter? What was she so afraid of? They could try right? Though it did go against everything she'd let herself believe for the last 5 years. "Kiss me."
[/b] Lily paused, her eyes widening a fraction as she looked back up into James's face, into his eyes. Her body screamed at her to do it, kiss him, feel that rush again but her head, her mind kept her rooted to the spot, the rational side of her made sure she didn't simply throw herself back into his arms. "I can't...James I'm sorry....look what happened was...but it can't happen again. I'm sorry I just can't..." she said, her eyes flickering to his lips then back to his eyes, fully of apology before she turned on her heel. Grabbing her bag off the floor she looked back at James as she began to back away from him, "No one can no...please...do this for me? Just forget it happened..." she said softly before turning around again and heading off down the corridor. ((OOC: I think we can end it with a post from you if you want or he can go after her either is fine for me.)) [/blockquote][/blockquote][/justify]

James closed his eyes for just the briefest of seconds, letting out a sigh. This was a useless argument. Her mind was set. She'd already decided. His words were falling on deaf ears for all the good they did. He'd really mucked up over the last couple of years, he knew that much, and now he just didn't know how to fix things again. Damn Sirius! He'd just gone and made everything so much more complicated.
"I can't...James I'm sorry....look what happened was...but it can't happen again. I'm sorry I just can't..."
"Don't." He moved as if to reach for her arm again but stopped short, there was no point. He could already see the resolution in her eyes and he knew that there was no point in fighting this losing battle any further right now. As cliche as it sounded, it felt like something was stabbing icy cold daggers into him as he watched her turn away from him.
"No one can no...please...do this for me? Just forget it happened..."
James looked away from her, down at the floor. What did he say to that? He didn't want to act like what happened in the broom closet never happened, but that was already what she was doing. That moment was over as soon as the couple opened the door, and sucked big time. James just nodded once, waiting until she'd started to walk away before looking back up at her again. "Does this mean you're going back to acting like you hate me now?"
Despite everything, nothing had changed.

Lily blinked again, feeling strangely choked with emotion, as she looked towards the floor and away from James. Sighing softly she shook her head and turned away from him, re-adjusting the bag on her shoulder, her chest feeling heavy, tight even. Swallowing the lump in her throat though she forced herself to move forwards and began walking when James's voice pierced through the air, halting her steps, though she didn't turn around. Lily was almost to scared to, knowing if she turned to look at him right now she may cave, kiss him, take the leap and let him know they could explore this spark between them.
"Does this mean you're going back to acting like you hate me now?"
Smiling sadly she lowered her head, before taking a breath and straightening her shoulders. Turning her head to the side she aimed her next few words to him, but still refused to look at him, "I don't hate you James...but we have to go back to normal...it's just the way things have to be...I'm sorry." she said softly, her voice catching at the end before she steeled her shoulders and held her head high, trying to remain indifferent despite the terrible ache now flooding her body as she walked away from James, leaving him stood in the hallway.
