Yawning, he flopped back in his seat and kicked up his feet, watching as students streamed into the hall for their exam. He really had no idea how he'd even been drafted in to do this stupid job, but he knew one thing for sure, he really wasn't going to be able to keep his eyes open for the full two hours. Maybe if he just set them off he could close his eyes and have a snooze for a while?
Finally, it looked as if all of the students were settled in there seats, but those who weren't would no doubt be in soon enough. "Right... well.." He scrambled through his pockets looking for the folded piece of paper he'd stuffed in their earlier with the instructions on. "Same crap as usual. No talking, no cheating, no copying, no standing up, no making a noise... blah blah blah. It's all the stuff you'd expect. Basically, sit quietly and just do the test and you'll be fine."
He knew that some people would spend ages reading out every little rules and sub word, but he really couldn't be bothered with all that stuff today. Besides, what difference would it make? It was all just common sense stuff anyway.
"You know the drill - hourglass starts, you start. Hourglass stops, you stop. Then take 5, and practical exam follows. Got it?"
He flicked his wand and watched as the giant hourglass rotated 180 degrees and the sand started to fall. Settling himself down in his seat again, he watched as dozens of students picked up their quills to start writing and he yawned again. How was he supposed to stay awake for the duration of this?

Exams. OWLs. Exams. OWLs. Exams. OWLs.
Now that they were finally sitting here and doing them did this mean the Professors would finally shut up about them? All they'd heard for weeks now was none stop OWLs OWLs OWLs OWLs. I mean heck! They got the point! OWLs were coming up, jeesh. Chill out about it.
Okay so, James had actually spent almost all of the past week sitting in the library attempting to study, but that didn't mean he wanted to hear anymore fussing from the Professors about it. Right up until he left his common room before, James had been reading over his old notes. Most of it he couldn't even remember writing, but he'd be fine, he was sure.
Unlike many students, James didn't stand outside of the Great Hall before the exam with his nose in a book. The majority of people did, but he didn't see the point in it. If you didn't know it by now you weren't likely to learn it in the last 5 minutes. He'd rather just take the time to chill out a bit.
The guy in the exam seemed chilled out enough. In fact, he seemed down right fed up of being there, and the exam hadn't even started yet! He looked a bit like a guy suffering from a nasty hangover or something, which surely meant that this exam had room to be a bit of fun, right?
Glancing over his shoulder, James grinned at Sirius, and unspoken message passing between them.

Exams were finally here. Blowing out a breath, Lily paid strict attention to the man at the front, sitting straight, her hands clasped in front of her ready to absorb everything he said. Which wasn't much really, wasn't he supposed to read them the rules? No? She rolled her eyes when he flicked his wand, the hourglass tipping indicating it had started. With strict precision Lily turned her focus to the page in front of her and plucked up her quill.
This was what she'd been working so hard towards. OWL's, and she was thrilled they were finally here. She'd studied relentlessly over the past few weeks in preparation and in order to get her mind off other things, well certain people to be more precise, she'd even spent the spare remaining few minutes outside the hall running through her notes. Shaking her head the red haired girl blew out a breath, running her tongue along her bottom lip, as she brushed her hair from her face.
As she did she caught sight of Potter, there was a row in between them and she caught sight of the glance between him and Black, rolling her eyes she shook her head, determined not to think of that boy or what had happened. Not now, no now was too important. Sighing softly she refocused on her exam and began writing.

Exam time had finally come around. Although he was fairly sure that he'd receive a good grade on this particular exam, Severus was stressed out. Just seeing the parchment made him nervous and it showed in his slightly trembling hands. He took a deep breath to calm himself and he began to write, concentrating hard on each question and taking time to figure out the correct answer. He happened to glance up, his black eyes falling upon Lily's unmistakable red hair. She was two rows ahead of him and for a moment, he couldn't stop watching her. Lily was concentrating on the parchment, perhaps chewing on the end of her quill. All the while, Severus was fading into a daydream-like state, remembering times with her.
Suddenly, she looked up and Severus followed her gaze, one row up. James Potter. His heart filled with anger but as she quickly looked back down at her exam, it was soon replaced by anguish. What if she did feel something for Potter? The thought was far too much for him to handle at the moment so he shrugged off the pain and gave his full attention to the questions before him.
