FULL NAME: Marlene Victorie McKinnon
NICKNAMES: Doe, Marly, Mars...Doe is her favorite though because it’s so innocent and so...not her at all.

IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME
FACE CLAIM: Teresa Palmer
EYE COLOUR: Bright Blue
HAIR COLOUR: Blonde
HEIGHT: Slightly below average
WEIGHT: 115 lbs
APPEARANCE: Marlene has very intense features; when she’s feeling something, she doesn’t normally let on through her emotions, but her face will usually tell the whole story...especially when she’s angry. When she wants to look nice, she can. When she wants to intimidate, it’s not a problem. Everything she does is expressive and full of intensity. When not in uniform, she can always be seen wearing her aviator sunglasses around the grounds. She also loves her leather jacket and frankly, hates skirts. Even when it’s summer out, she’s always wearing dark colors and dark jeans. She lets her hair go untamed, knowing that she’s only going to mess it up eventually, so what’s the point?
WE CRASHED IT RIGHT INTO THE WHOMPING WILLOW

LIKES: Muggle Cigarettes, Motorcycles, Sneaking Out, Sarcasm, Fireworks, Her Friends, Sleeping in Late, Her Older Brother, Bubble Baths, Monster Trucks, Snarky Comments, Moonlight, Pranks, Muggle Cars, Messes
DISLIKES: Studying, Seriousness, Rules, Most Professors, Early Mornings, Double Potions, Cleaning, Her Parents, Pink, Formalities, Math, Small Talk, Accountability, Prefects
BOGGART: Her boggart takes the form of herself, in starched clothing, sitting at an office job all day. She hates the idea that she will ever have to subject herself to that because she believes that she is destined for something greater.
MIRROR OF ERISED: Right now, at this point in time, Marlene desires a reconciliation with her parents. They had a falling out a couple of years ago and their relationship has never been the same. In the mirror, she sees herself with their hands on her shoulders, telling her how proud she makes them.
PATRONUS: Hyena
PERSONALITY: Marlene is a typical 70s rebel child; full of near insanity and spontaneity. She’s always up for trying new things with new people and is never above a petty prank at Hogwarts. Think of her as a female version of Sirius Black. She loves the feeling of being on top of the world and isn’t afraid to step on a few heads to get there. She caves in pretty easily to her desires, always wanting to keep herself having a good time which does lead her down the road of slight substance abuse and excessive partying. Not that that’s a problem; it is after all the seventies.
Marlene is a bit of a tomboy at times though. She developed a strange love for motorcycles and monster trucks when she was younger and hasn’t been able to shake it. Her entire bunk at Hogwarts is covered from top to bottom with pictures of her at various car and cycle events. She even made a special trip to America a couple of summers ago so that she could see a NASCAR race. Most people seem to find her boy-ish tendencies a little charming.
She’s a very independent person, never really believing that she could count on her parents has made her able to keep herself in check when no one else can. However, that doesn’t mean that she likes to control herself...she’d rather go out and have a good time than anything.
She’s not all that smart...or at least, she doesn’t apply herself when it comes to her intelligence. School and books are a waste of time for her and she just barely passed her OWLS last year. Instead of studying, she likes to wander around the castle and find out what’s going on around at all times.
I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT WE DIDN'T GET EXPELLED

CURRENT RESIDENCE: Her Brother’s house near London
HISTORY: Marlene McKinnon was born to Elise and Fred McKinnon. Her parents were largely too busy to take care of her as a child; they liked to go out and explore London society too much to care for their own children, so Marlene’s brother, Bradley, did a lot of the raising. He cared for his little sister deeply, but unfortunately, he found that she was a little hard to control. Marlene was a free spirt, never really feeling bound by any of the rules her parents or brother had put in place for her to obey. When her brother got his Hogwarts letter, her parents shipped him off to school and then sent Marlene to live with her aunt, Mildred (Witch, currently 39 yrs).
Living with her aunts was a bit different than her life at home; her aunt was every bit as much as a rebel as she was turning out to be. From age 8 to 11, she lived there and enjoyed a happiness that she never knew was possible. It was her aunt who first got her interested in her fascination with muggle vehicles, a love that she has kept after all these years.
When her Hogwarts Letter came, Marlene wasn’t at all surprised. Her aunt had told her that it was coming after she had broken a few plates in the kitchen....without touching them. She gladly packed up all her belongings and began the trek into wizardom that she had always been craving. When she reached Hogwarts her first year, she was proudly sorted into Gryffindor...however, the hat did have a bit of a hard time telling her where she should go. The hat told her that she had a good enough brain to belong in Ravenclaw, which she promptly told him was not the place for her. She couldn’t imagine being stuck in a house with so many uptight tossers. Then he proceeded to tell her that she was fair and just, but with a little too much spunk for Hufflepuff, which she automatically agreed with. The choice was then between Slytherin and Gryffindor. It was ultimately her fearlessness and recklessness that landed her in Gryffindor, because, after all, that’s some sort of bravery, right?
She almost immediately fell behind in her studies, resulting in a few menacing letters from her parents. She paid them no attention though, and continued to live her life at school the way that she wanted to live it. In her 4th year, she tried out for the Quidditch team, but she was turned down due to the fact that there was already someone with superior Seeker skills. However, this year, she’s trying out again and hopes to score that open Seeker spot on the Gryffindor Team.
For summer breaks, she no longer lives with her aunt, but with her older Brother whom has grown up quite a bit and is currently an Auror in training.

The evening air was a little crisper than Septima had previous anticipated. She felt like she was less than adequately dressed for the weather in her blue cardigan and smart black dress. These were the days she wished that she paid more attention to the changing weather patterns surrounding Hogwarts; perhaps then she wouldn’t be so freezing. She listened to the click of her heels as she walked down the main street of Hogsmeade, trying to clear her head. The past two weeks had been very stressful for her, and she was close to pulling her hair out. She had fought for her right to the Dueling Club, she had fought to get rid of pranks in her classroom, she had fought with an insubordinate third year Slytherin who had no interest in her class and was taking it to pick up a Raveclaw girl that was in the advanced section of Arithmancy, she had even fought with Dumbledore over moving her classroom. She had fought until she thought that there was nothing more in the world that she wanted to fight about. She was simply ready for some peace and quiet. That was why she was on her way to The Three Broomsticks where she vowed that she would people watch and keep to herself. Perhaps even get a chance to read the Muggle novel that was collecting dust in her bag.
The thought of reading made her smile. She had always had a particular fondness for muggle novels. They were so much more interesting than the Wizarding tales that were around these days. She tugged her black leather bag a little further up her shoulder, making sure that she didn’t lose it as she turned the corner.
It was then that she was face to face with him. Well, as she stood there staring, she realized that it wasn’t actually him, just a giant poster that had his face all over it. She looked closer, making sure that she was seeing it right. Her initial thought was that he looked a lot like a student she had had just a few years ago: a certain student who had made unmistakable passes at her numerous times. Passes that were both too forward for her liking and rather unprofessional; not that he cared, whenever she said something about it, the bold Gryffindor boy simply used to laugh. She felt a blush rise to her cheeks. What was his name again? Bradley something or other. Bradley...Ah. Parker. Was it possible that was his face on the Hogsmeade Hammer’s poster...? Septima reached up and touched the face on the poster, not surprised when the movie photograph seemed to give a cheer of victory, undoubtedly proud of whatever he had just accomplished. She shook her head, determining that she was seeing things. There was no way that the annoyance that had been Bradley Parker had made it big. No way in the world that he was playing for a professional team. She must have been mistaken. She turned away from the poster, choosing to continue her walk toward the bar.
She walked through the door to The Three Broomsticks and was happy to see that it was warm, well-lit, and full of life. The sounds of hearty drinking mates filled her ears and she smiled. She couldn’t help it. This was the kind of atmosphere she loved; the camaraderie of it all. Slowly she crossed to the table in the back that always seemed to be open when she needed it. It wasn’t long before Madame Rosmerta sat a hot tea down on her table, “Good to see you, Sept.” The woman said with a grin and slipped a tiny umbrella into Vector’s drink. This made Septima laugh slightly.
“Thank you very much, Rosmerta. Glad to see you haven’t forgotten my favorites,” Septima said quietly and pressed her lips to the cup as she watched the woman walk away to the bar so that she could serve the other customers. The liquid slipped down her throat and warmed her entire being. Without another thought, she pulled out the novel that was sitting in her bag and began to read, slipping into another world; one of romance and danger. One that was not hers in the slightest.
