This is simply the foyer area. On the left hand side is the doorway and the staircase to the Dungeons, straight ahead is the grand staircase and to the right is the Great Hall. At the back of the room on the right hand side is a corridor, which eventually leads to the Kitchens and the Hufflepuff Common Room.

Here's where you can eat all your meals, get all your owl post and even participate in special events. The ceiling in the Great Hall is enchanted, and changes with the weather outside. It's covered in candles, and on Halloween, it's covered in pumpkins.
