Emily was in a daze, a beautiful, head in the clouds daze as she left the castle that afternoon instead of going to the Great Hall for Lunch. Instead she'd opted to enjoy the outside, with the mood she was in she wasn't really fit to be around anyone, she'd not uttered a single syllable since last night, since....not even when Chase walked her to the common room. They'd walked the halls in complete and utter silence, both lost in their own thoughts about what amazing thing had occurred between them both.
Emily didn't regret it, quite the opposite actually and she knew Chase didn't, he'd told her as much. Really she couldn't believe things had moved as fast as they had, from flirting, to kissing to...well you know, all in the space of three dates was quick, yet Emily still couldn't find a reason to regret her actions. Should they have waited, perhaps, but it had happened now and if she was honest, Emily couldn't remember a time she felt more happy. It was as though all the pain from the last few weeks had simply vanished, it was still there but Emily was still floating around in a daze, her mind constantly replying the nights events.
Running a hand through her hair, Emily laughed at herself and shook her head before settling on a patch of grass beside the Black Lake, placing her bag beside her. Crossing her legs, she glanced back at the castle still in view, before turning and focusing on the lake. A smile played on her lips as she bit down on her bottom one, the nights events replaying in her head once more and she wondered what he was up to.
So far, Emily had yet to see Chase since last night. Perhaps he was in the Great Hall, he probably was, after all she'd seen Lachie heading in there, but due to their agreement to keep things a secret, she wouldn't have been able to talk to him any ways. Maybe later...she was sure she'd see him at some point as the day went on and the thought set a nervous knot in her stomach, she had no idea what she would say or even how to act!
Biting down on her lip, Emily released a small sigh and stood up from the grass, kicking off her shoes and moving them to sit beside her bag. Turning she walked towards the lake and stepped into the water, moving until it was at least calf height before she stopped. Wiggling her toes, she giggled lightly letting her fingers run through the water. It was relaxing feeling the water move over her legs, but she wouldn't go any further, wouldn't even attempt to.
After a few minutes stood in the water, admiring the beautiful scenery surrounding her Emily turned to head back to her things, only just stepping out of the lake when she heard the familiar sound of footsteps to her left. Quickly she turned, to see who it was, hoping to see a friendly face...

Chase had woke early that morning despite not being able to get to sleep the night before. He couldn't get Emily out of his mind and he kept replaying the events of the night over and over and over and over and over in his mind, until eventually he fell asleep with the memory of her crying out with pleasure etched into his mind.
He woke up with a huge grin on his face, too, as his dream came to an end. Said dream had been influenced big-time by what had passed between him and Emily the night before. From the moment he first saw her last night to now the beautiful blond had not left his mind once.
Slipping out of bed he'd been fiercely glad that it was early enough that his room mates were still sleeping - Lachie especially. He had the feeling that he might have ended up on the receiving end of a flying fist had Lachie been awake and found out what had happened... Damn it was going to be hard to keep his cool and act casual around him...
Downstairs he'd been one of the first in to breakfast that morning too - a very rare thing. He didn't think he'd ever been there when there'd been so few people in. Still, his eyes darted up to the Gryffindor table in the rare hopes of seeing that familiar blond head. No such luck. He'd keep his eyes open for her though.
When they finally got around to leaving the room of requirements the night before there was hardly a word spoken between them. They'd snuck up through the castle with goofy grins on both of their faces. This time, Emily hadn't even stopped him at the stairs to avoid the nosy portraits so he'd gone all the way to the fat lady with her. He'd kissed her then and made a promise to see her tomorrow, and now that tomorrow was here he was determined to hunt her out. Of course, this time of the morning was a little too early.
So, Chase had spent most of his morning killing time. He knew that on a Saturday a lot of the school didn't even wake up till nearly lunch time. He was usually one of them people. But even still, he didn't want to run into anyone who would start asking questions. So, outside he went.
The following few hours were spent lost in a bit of a daze as the night, again, repeated over and over in his mind. In the end, he'd taken a quick dip in the lake to try and clear his head and cool of his body which still burnt and longed for her touch.
Then, he'd wandered around aimlessly past Herbology... Care of Magical Creatures...Hagrid's hut - where he'd managed to kill half an hour talking to the friendly half-giant. It wasn't very often that he found the time to speak to Hagrid, but when he did he always enjoyed it. That morning was no different, except he was a little too distracted to pay attention to what was being said.
Eventually, Chase found himself standing at the top of the Owlery. It was only a little after half ten by that point so, with nothing better to do to keep his mind from straying back to the previous night, he settled down at the small desk in the corner and began to write. He always managed to forget to write home. Now, he had an excuse. It kept his mind and wild imagination at bay.
He didn't know how long had passed before he slipped back out of the Owlery but just as he stepped outside his eyes were drawn to a figure making their way over t the lake.
Emily.
Chase watched from the distance as she sat, then stood again, the slipped into the water. She looked happy, a constant smile on her face. It made Chase smile just looking at her. She positively radiated happiness. That, at least, gave him some reassurance that she didn't regret the night before. He wondered if she would since they hadn't known each other very long and things had moved very quickly, but thankfully it looked like things were find.
What a soppy idiot he must look!
He shook his head. What was it about this particular girl that had him so completely drawn in, ensnared, lost to her...
Making his way over he stopped and took off his socks and shoes and rolling up his trousers, intending to join her in the lake.
As he neared where she stood she began to climb out of the lake, and when he was just a few meters from her she turned and looked at him.
He grinned. "Leaving the water without me? That's not fair, babe." He sent her a cheeky wink as her dropped his shoes beside her stuff and stepped closer, siding an arm around her waist to pull her close.
He really couldn't keep his hands off her.
He searched her face, her eyes, looking for any sign of regret from the night before.
"Why can't I keep you off my mind?" He pressed a soft kiss to her lips then pulled away, one hand sliding down to grasp hers as he stepped towards the water that she'd just stepped out of. He gave her a questioning look. "Join me?"

It was Chase!
Emily felt both her heart rate speed up to an incredible pace, and her breath caught slightly at the sight of him and that trademark grin he had plastered on his face. "I've warned you about calling me babe, pretty boy..." Emily joked, surprising even herself, though she really didn't mind the nickname. If anyone else tried calling her it there'd be hell to pay but somehow it sound okay coming from Chase, he knew she didn't mind, not really. It also seemed all to easy to fall into their usual banter when he was so far away, when he drew closer however that's when her nerves kicked in and the butterflies in her stomach went crazy. Last night was rushing through her mind in waves, she would easily admit he'd been amazing in every way, right up until they parted ways at the portrait.
Chase winked at her as he dropped his shoes beside her own, and she watched him cautiously as he drew closer, her heart beating hard against her chest as memories of their night came continued to flood her mind. As he slid an arm around her waist and pulled her flush against him, Emily felt her cheeks burn a bright red, a small gasp escaping her lips as her hands flattened against his broad chest, her eyes locking with his. His own searched hers, searched her face, for what she didn't know, all she could register was their closeness.
"Why can't I keep you off my mind?"
Emily was nervous, that much was obvious. Things had changed so drastically between them, all barriers had been crossed, there wasn't really any kind of secrets between them both now at least not physical ones. They were both standing in new territory now, their relationship a lot more developed. Chase had been Emily's first, he knew this of course, last night had meant so much to her, she'd given a part of herself to him no other guy would be able to have, ever. She knew she wasn't his, but didn't allow that to dampen her mood, her spirit, last night had been incredible, there was no question about it.
Before she could attempt a response to his question Chase had kissed her softly, causing her heart to skip a beat and her breathing to falter slightly as she returned it. "When you work it out let me know..." she said softly, as she couldn't keep her mind off him, he'd plagued her thoughts and dreams since last night, there hadn't been a single moment since she'd gotten that first note yesterday where he hadn't been on her mind.
Chase pulled away and Emily resisted the urge to lean back into him, and instead allowed him to grasp her hand, turning them back towards the lake she'd just stepped out of. At his request for her to join him she smiled softly and nodded her head "Okay..." she said softly, tucking her hair back behind her ear as she stepped back into the lake. The cool water lapped against her legs, the motions soothing, some what calming, though her heart rate continued it's incessant racing, as she stood close by Chase, for the first time since they'd met, feeling nervous around him, "Did...erm, did the guys not notice you missing last night?" she asked.
It seemed stupid to feel so nervous around him, especially after what they had shared. There should be none of this nervousness last night, Emily though figured it was natural, especially on her end after all Chase was her first, she just hoped he held no regrets about it. Still she kept her fingers threaded with his, keeping that connection between them.

"When you work it out let me know..."
Chase grinned. Did that mean that she'd been thinking about what had passed between them that night as much as he had been thinking about it?
Looking closely at her Chase could see something in her face and the way she kept glancing away from him, but he couldn't quite pin an exact name to it. But then, it wasn't regret... so, maybe she was just a little unsure of how to act around him this morning?
He knew that he'd been her first though it had surprised him slightly when he first found out. He knew she'd dated Lachie the year before but he didn't really know anything about her past relationships beyond that. But still, it had come as a bit of a relief to know that he wasn't sleeping with a girl that his best friend and room mate had been with before. Although both of them had reputations (Chase's worst) they seemed to have an unspoken mutual agreement when it came to girls the other had slept with.
Chase ran his fingers gently down the side of her face and neck. "I'll make sure I do." He winked, smiling at her. He really wanted her to get past this initial awkward shyness. They had taken a massive leap in their...relationship last night, but it was time to grasp the opportunity tightly and ride this ride out to the end, and see where this journey took them.
And the fact he was the one thinking such things was slightly scary. He wasn't usually a 'think serious' person.
Tugging her gently towards the lake with him, he was glad when she agreed and followed him in, glad to see that small smile that she sent his way. Now all he needed to do was keep conversation light until she was out of that shell she'd crept into with the morning.
He laughed at her awkward attempt at conversation. "Not at all. They were soundly sleeping when I went to bed and soundly sleeping when I woke up. I'll face that barrage of questions later." He pulled her close to him and stepped back further so that the water rose higher up their legs, making her move with him. He knew that his trousers were wet now but he didn't care enough. A simple spell could dry him off, much as he'd used when he'd been in the lake early that morning. He pulled her close to whisper in her ear. "Why so shy with me, babe?"
Chase leaned in a kissed her softly, savoring the taste of her. Even now he still wanted her close to him - he wanted to go back to the previous night when they'd been lost to their own small world.
Stepping back further Chase was surprised to feel his foot sink far lower that expected.
Sh*t!!!
He barely had a second to think before he sunk under the water, he grip still on Emily and pulling her with him.
When would he remember that there was a ledge there?

Emily smiled softly at Chase and nodded her head at his wink, forcing herself to relax somewhat. After all what did she have left to be shy about now, hadn't she given everything to Chase last night, she hadn't held back or been to shy then so why now? Chase didn't seem like he was going here, he was with her after all when he really didn't have to be. There were plenty other girls for him to choose from in this school, she should probably just think herself lucky that he seemed to like her somewhat.
Emily walked with him easily into the water as he responded to her question about his room mates. It didn't surprise her when he mentioned they'd been sleeping when Chase had awoke, she knew Lachie and knew it usually took a seance to wake him up once he was asleep. So she laughed softly and nodded her head, allowing him to pull her in closer but didn't let that distract her from how deep Chase was moving them. Wasn't there supposed to be a ledge around here somewhere, the last thing she wanted was to go toppling over it and into the lake, like she'd done so many other times.
"I'm not shy...what happened last night...just taking some time to get used to things..." she told him, admitting she was still struggling to get her mind around the complete change their relationship had gone through only last night. Biting down on her lip she looked away from Chase and to the scenery a minute before she looked back to him, "I just hope you don't think I'm the kind of girl that usually...I mean I know you know you were my...my first but I don't want you to think..." she trailed off and chuckled lightly not sure what point she was trying to get across, all she knew was she was babbling.
Looking back at Chase she smiled, returning the soft kiss he pressed over her lips, returning it and resisting the urge to deepen it once more. After all she'd seen how heated things got last night. As Chase moved back she followed, then frowned, only realising what was happening when it was too late. Chase grabbed hold of her as he went over the ledge in the lake and pulled her, submerging them both beneath the surface of the freezing cold water.
Emily being the quick thinker she was, immediately kicked herself to the surface, gasping when she broke through, "Chase Connors I'm going to kill you..." she growled, as she brushed her soaking wet hair back away from her face, looking around for her boy-friend who had yet to surface, "Chase?"

Chase couldn't help but laugh softly at her awkward attempts to explain herself. "You hope I don't think you're the kind of girl who goes around jumping into bed with guys on their first official date, even though that's kinda what you did?" He teased, raising an eyebrow at her and fighting to keep back a laugh. He failed. "Forget the officials and we'll call it the unofficial date three. See, problem solved. Come on, babe, what kind of person do you think I am?" Hypocrite, his mind said - if he was going to judge her on that, which he wasn't.
Chase felt the water sweep over him as he sunk below, slipping from the edge of the ledge which he should have known was there. He also knew he'd dragged Emily with him. What she okay?
Luckily for him he'd had the time to drag in a gasp of air before he went under, because as soon as he did he felt something on his ankles. His grip on Emily loosened and he was pulled further into the depth.
The thing on his ankle felt cool and squishy, but sticky too. The Giant Squid, he had no doubt. Damn that thing had the worst timings. Where was it when he was swimming the lake earlier that morning?
Chase struggled to get a grip on his wand that was tucking into his trousers, but when he did, he wasted no time in casting the handy little repelling jinx that someone had shown him the year before... the last time he'd fallen prey to the squids' games...
The water around him lit up a vibrant and blinding red, which he was sure that Emily would be able to see from whereever she was above him. He actually had no idea just how far down he was.
With in seconds of the squid releasing him he was kicking for the surface. Even now he could feel the darkness beginning to hover at the edges of awareness. He needed air.
Looking up, he was sure he could make out the surface way up there above him. And those legs... were they Ems?
Yeah...
He needed air.
He needed to breathe.
"A..a...acendio..." The words came out weak and muffled in the water which gushed into his mouth, but with those words came the sensation of speed, just as the darkness swept over him and wiped out the sunlight.

Emily blinked twice at his comment, then she looked down. Who was she kidding, she was that girl who jumped into bed on the first date, the kind of girls she loathed. Shaking her head she looked back at Chase and nodded her head and smiled slightly, "I guess if you were one to judge you'd be being a hypocrite..." she replied, after all how many girls had he carelessly given himself too, who had he thrown away his virginity for so recklessly like she had. Why couldn't she have just waited, but then again last night had been perfect in so many ways. Sure maybe waiting would have been nice but she couldn't bring herself to regret what her and Chase had shared, in her mind it had been perfect, beautiful.
They'd fallen into the lake, and Chase still hadn't surfaced. Her panic level began to peek and taking a deep breath and kicking her legs she dived back beneath the surface, swimming down slightly her eyes barely able to see anything through the murky depths of the water. Where was he? The need to breath was becoming painfully obvious, Emily knew she needed to get back to the surface but damn it where was Chase. Her heart was thudding loudly in her chest, and unable to ignore the severe burning in her lungs any-more she kicked her legs and returned to the surface.
As she surfaced, Emily greedily breathed in, coughing and spluttering as she began looking around her once more. "Chase!" she shouted his name loudly, her eyes flickering to the grass, then back around the lake, "Chase..where are you?" she called out his name, panic evident in her voice, her lip quivering not only from the cold but the panic now flooding through her. Had the Giant Squid got him, no he couldn't have she'd been there to, how hadn't she seen it, letting out a small sob, Emily continued to kick her legs and looked around before yelling, "Chase!", only then her eyes caught on the bright red light shining beneath her...

At his spell, he felt himself moving upwards to the surface and the blackness overwhelmed him. He couldn't have been out for more than a few seconds before he came around, his automatic reaction being to gasp in air. But, he wasn't entirely out of the water yet and the slightly salty lake water rushed in, filling his lungs.
He was vaguely away that he'd reached the surface of the water, but when he was coming around he hadn't been able to keep himself above the surface. He kicked and flailed around, trying to find something to hold onto or stand on or something but there was nothing there. He coughed and spulttered, unable to breath properly as even when he managed to scrape in the slightest breath he still couldn't stay above the water.
He couldn't breathe. He couldn't find his way out of the water. He was dizzy and disorientated and where was Emily anyways? Even as the thought crossed his mind he became aware of hands on him and he struggled to calm his racing mind and instead focus on trying to clear the water from his lungs so that he could breathe. He needed to get out of this lake...

Emily watched as the red light grew brighter and brighter, her heart thudding wildly against her chest as she began to think that maybe it was Chase. Before she could dive back beneath the surface though Chase re-surfaced. Emily felt her eyes widen though before she could even dare to smile or feel that relief at seeing him, it registered that Chase wasn't concious and instantly her heart dropped into her stomach.
"Chase?" she called his name and began to swim towards him just as he awoke. Immediately sinking below the surface again, reappearing only to gasp for air. Emily moved quickly towards him, "Chase calm down..." she said, finally reaching him, her hands quickly moving to his face trying to get him to focus on her, to relax, which thankfully he seemed to do a little. The kicking and flailing stopped enough to let Emily hook her arm around his back and tug him closer to her, and towards the surface.
"Come on..." she said, kicking her legs, they weren't too far away, and all she needed was to get to a part of the lake where he could touch the ground. It took less than a minute for them to swim into the shallower part of the lake, Emily only stopping swimming when she could feel the bottom with her hand. Finally able stand she crouched beside Chase, her hands cupping his face, "Chase...babe are you okay...?"

Chase became aware of hands touching his face, and only then did he begin to register the familiar voice that accompanied them. The familiar sight of Emily calmed him enough for him to concentrate on breathing, and when he realized that she was trying to swim them towards the edge he wrapped one hand around her waist in return and kicked towards the shore.
When they finally reached the ledge again Chase let go of emily, crawling on his hands and knees and trying to keep his head above the water till he reached a slightly shallower area. He coughed and dragged in a huge gulp of oxygen, still shaking slightly. He hadn't expected that fright.
He felt Emily's hands on his face again. "You stole my word" He said, refering to her use of the word babe.

Emily rolled her eyes at Chase when he accused her of stealing his word. "Seemed the quickest way to get your attention..." she commented dryly, watching him closely. Letting her hands fall to her side, she looked to where their stuff lay and then refocused back on Chase.
"Come on lets get you out of the water...then we get you tried and head back to the castle..." she said, half wondering if she should convince him to go to Madame Pomfrey, however somewhere inside she already knew what Chase's reply to that would be.
So it was probably best instead that he head back to his own dorm, sleep off the shock. Standing up she shivered against the cold breeze against her wet clothes and tugged on Chase's hand, "Come on..." she said softly to him, shooting him the smallest of smiles.

Chase didn't complain when Emily said that they should get out of the water. He hadn't had any intention of going quite that far into the water in the first place. "Bloody squid..." He muttered under his breath as he made his way to the edge with her.
He noticed Emily shivver and it was then that he acknowledged just how cold it was. They were completely soaked. Well, a simple spell would solve that. He reached for his wand but -
His wand!!!
He spun around, eyes searching across the surface of the water rapidly. Damn he must have let go of it when he lost consciousness! Now what the hell was he supposed to do?
"Arg, God damnit..." He ran a hand through his soaking hair, trying to work out the best way to find his wand again...if there was one...
Chase was about ready to step back into the water when there was a strange belching sound and the water bulged and ripples. Something began to protrude from under the surface and he instead took a step back, an arm reaching out to grab Emily even as his eyes searched the newly appearing thing trying to make sense of it.
The...squid?
It was. They giant squid had come to the surface. Chase grimanced. This was just what he needed - the revenge of the squid. But as he looked closer he noticed something. One of the squids giant tenticles was moving slowly towards him through the water and there, wrapped in it, was something he recognised. His wand!
He reached out wearily and took it, not wanted to get grabbed and dragged down again. Thankfully though, the lake-dweller released his wand and, with another strange belching sound, sunk beneath the water again.
Chase blinked, not quite understanding what had just happned then looked down at his wand. "Well that was easy..."

"Don't blame the squid Mr..." Emily chuckled, stepping onto the grass, then frowning when she looked back at Chase, he looked frantic as he spun around to face the lake again. Supressing a shiver, Emily watched him, "Chase what is it?" she asked him as he cursed out loud, running a hand through his hair before taking a step closer to the water. Before Emily had the chance to reach out to him, stop him, not wanting a repeat of the last few minutes, a sound came from the water, and Emily watched wide eyed as something began to come through the surface.
Before Chase could even grab her, Emily had stepped back away from the lake her eyes wide, unable to believe what she was seeing. Hadn't this been the same thing that only minutes previous had tried to drag Chase down into the crushing darkness of the lake. The Squid. Shaking her head she let out a small sound of disbelief as her heart began hammering inside of her chest once more, taking another step closer to her things and her wand, wanting to be able to protect herself if it tried to attack.
The strange thing was, it wasn't attacking, instead in it's slimy tentacle it had a wand, and seeing Chase take it, it wasn't that hard to see it was his own. Now she really was confused, first it tries to drown him and now it's helping him...though it probably wasn't wise to question it, and instead just be thankful they weren't being turned into sushi. "Not easy, bloody lucky."
Emily looked at Chase then refocused on the water where the sea beast had disappeared to. Shaking her head she let out a small sound of laughter, both in relief and surprise and shook her head again, turning to her belongings. Grimacing she pulled her hair into a side pony and twisted it, watching as the water fell to the ground. "Remind me of this day the next time I decide to go in there..." she said to Chase.

Chase was too busy searching the lake for any sign of his wand to reply when Emily asked what was wrong. Damn it he needed his wand! Before he knew what was happening though, the squid appeared at the surface and handed his want to him and he was left standing there more than just a little stunned and speachless.
"That too..." He muttered, his eyes still on the darkening area of the lake where the squid had vanished into, then down to his wand to stare at it. That was the strangest, most bizzare thing he'd ever witnessed... Maybe those creature loving folks were right... maybe the squid was just lonely... maybe it was more...sentimental than most believed... maybe it just wanted someone to play with. Pity it chose him. It needed to find itself a nice mermaid to play with. Or heck, Chase wouldn't mind meeting a mermaid himself either...
"Remind me of this day the next time I decide to go in there..."
He spun at the sound of Emily's voice and winced guiltily at the thought that had just crossed his mind. He was glad that she wasn't facing his way though.
Chase could see her grimace as she tried to squeeze the water out of her hair and he remembered what he'd been thinking before he'd noticed his missing wand. With a few muttered words there was a strange sucking sensation all over his body, and the water was pulled clear from his clothing leaving him dry. He looked at Emily. She was dried too. Pity... he rather liked how her clothes had stuck to her when they'd been soaked and- He shook his head. He wasn't going to let his thoughts go there. Heck... how much would it take to convince her back to their secret hide-away with him? Probably too much.
He grinned at her. "So, now what should we do, babe?" He walked upbehind her and pulled her close to his so he could lean over her shoulder to speak to her and so that she had to tilt her head to look at him, reavealing the pale column of her neck which he wasted no time in kissing and sucking on gently. She was his now and he intended to leave his mark on her, even if they were supposed to be keeping secret. Right now, anyone could walk out of the castle and see them, so why not give them something to really see?
He let one hand run dangerously low down her stomache while the other was daring to go a little to far up her stomach. He grinned into her neck as he nipped down softly on her neck. Perfect.

Emily paused, somewhat surprised when her clothes simply dried, followed quickly by her hair which again surprised her enough to make her pause for a lengthy amount of time. She didn't even have time to turn to Chase when he began talking to her as his arms went around her waist, pulling her back against his chest as his chin rested comfortably on her shoulder. "Well I was thinking we just head back up to the castle...I'd like to avoid any further danger..." she commented, smiling lightly at him.
When Chase began paying ALOT of attention to her neck, Emily shifted against him, letting her eyes close for a moment to enjoy the sensation, before she quickly grabbed both of his hands, stilling them in their path. Though as she did, he nipped at her neck causing her to gasp in surprise and even jump a little. With a little twist she managed to turn herself out of his arms, but still held his hands, so there wasn't that much of a distance put between them.
"Behave yourself..." she warned Chase, shooting him a smile so he knew she was joking around. Biting down on her lip she looked towards the castle, wondering if anyone had seen them, she really hoped no one had. The last thing she needed was to be the centre of more gossip, she wasn't ready for anyone to know about her and Chase just yet, perhaps at the ball it'd be easier for people to find out. She actually looked forward to the ball, getting dressed up, dancing spending time with her friends and boy-friend it was going to be an unforgettable night. Though as quickly as that thought came, so did another and she looked over at Chase, "You know what your going to the ball as yet?" she asked.
