UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
Dressed as a Knight of the Round Table, Ted took a tentative step inside the doors of the Great Hall. Colours and costumes whizzed past him in all directions and Ted could feel himself starting to get a bit nauseous. Parties weren't really his thing, but a few of his dorm-mates had made him promise he'd make an appearance tonight.
Stuck in a sea of people, being joshed from one side to the other, Ted made a struggle to get hout of the crowd and over to the drinks table.
There had been one thing on his mind over the past week - or, more like it, one person. For whatever reason it was, Andromeda Black had been on Ted's mind ever since that Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson. Ted couldn't get the girl out of his head - his every thought related back to her and her curly, thick brown hair, chocolate eyes and that laugh that sent tingles down Ted's spine.
He shook his head, making all the thoughts disappear. It was just a little crush, right? And as if anything would ever happen there anyway. Society forbid it. Their blood, amongst other things, would keep them apart and there was no use pursuing anything. Or, so Ted thought.

Andromeda had been right, it was entirely impossible to move normally in this dress. It had been designed to accommodate a skirt that went out almost a foot on either side, but she had cut it down to one that only went out a few inches for this occasion. But she was still be jostled on all sides. She cursed herself for not thinking about this in the first place and scanned the room. There, on the far side y the food, were a some tables where a few people were sitting down. If she could just make it there she would be fine, but that was if she could make it out of the mass of people, which she was starting to doubt. She heard someone shouting and turned around reflexively while continuing to walk. A mistake. She wasn't walking quickly, so she didn't smack into the person, but she collided with them none the less. she jolted around while taking a stuff back. "Sorry, ple—." she stopped, recognizing who it was. "Hi." she said, flushing.

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
Just as Ted had finished pouring himself a glass of punch, he suddenly lurched sideways as the force of another person collided with him. Even though the blow was not hard, Ted still managed to spill the drink all down his front. As his eyes lifted, he saw exactly who had bumped into him. The spilt drink went unnoticed, as the girl who he had been trying to get out of his head was standing in front of him.
"Meda," he said breathlessly, taking in her stunning dress (and figure). "Wow, you look - beau - stunn - wow, you look really good," he stuttered, feeling his heart pump wildly out of his chest. She looked amazing. He had no idea who she was meant to be, but the way her hair was pulled back into a knot made the arch of her neck look ...
Ted mentally slapped himself. No. Bad Ted.
"Can I get you a drink?" he said, trying to find his manners after they'd been shocked out of him by the stunning woman in front of him. He put the now-empty glass cup back down on the edge of the table and grabbed two more glasses and proceeded to fill them up with punch, handing one over to Andromeda.
Little did Ted know, the drinks he had just poured were filled with a love potion... Chase Connors had spiked them fifteen minutes earlier as the doors had opened to the Great Hall.

Andromeda felt a flicker of a smile, of all the people to bump into, at least it was someone she knew. Her chest tightened, of all the people to bump in to, it had to be someone who’d she found herself thinking about every time her mind began to drift, which had been happening quite a lot. Someone she had bumped into… She looked down and realized she made him spill his drink. Hers eyes flicked back up and she opened her mouth to apologize, but the words died on her lips. He was staring at her in a way that made her skin tingle.
"Wow, you look - beau - stunn - wow, you look really good.” She blushed and looked away, her heart hammering in her chest. Could he really be talking about her? The thought made her feel suddenly very bubbly. Guys didn’t talk about her that way, not guys that looked like Ted...she went even redder, as was glad that he could not see her face at that moment.
“Thanks.” She said, swallowing. “You look great too.” He actually did kind of look like a knight, only a little more, relatable. Her hands grasped nervously at her sides and she was forced to plant them firmly at her sides to keep them from ruing her dress.
Hoping her hands weren’t trembling she took the cup, holding it firmly as to ensure that it didn’t spill on her dress. She gave him a grateful smile, grasping for something to say. “So, knight and noblewoman, kind of a interesting coincidence don’t you think?”
She felt kind of strange just standing around the table, especially as others were beginning to gather around. “Do you mind if we sit down?” she asked, gesturing to a table a few feet away that was still empty.

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
Ted felt his cheeks flush bright red as she complimented him in return. He looked like a troll next to her, but he appreciated the comment anyway. "Thanks," he said in return, feeling extremely glad that it was Andromeda who had bumped into him.
He held his glass tightly in his hand, unsipped, as the two of them sat down at the empty table together. "I agree," he said, in return to her previous comment. "It's kind of funny that we're matching tonight, hey,"
Just as Ted brought the drink to his lips, a funny, tingly sort of feeling washed over him. His head suddenly became clouded and his vision, whilst unblurred, seemed to make things a bit rosier in colour. His eyes stayed unmoving from Andromeda and all of a sudden, he could hardly control his heartbeat.
"I think somebody's put something in this..." he said warily, as he blinked a couple of times, focusing in on the noblewoman sitting beside him.
It was like he was seeing her in a new light. If he hadn't been thinking about her a lot before, he was definitely going to now. His heart swelled and his hands became all clammy; she was beautiful - stunning - and Ted was head over heels in love with her. A pang ripped through his chest and all he wanted to do was shout it from the rooftops - tell everyone he came into contact with. He loved Andromeda Black and he'd be damned if the world didn't like it!
"Do you want to dance?" he said suddenly, already out of his chair and offering Andromeda her hand. "It's only right for a noblewoman to dance with her knight in shining armour."
If he hadn't been so intoxicated, Ted would have sooner clamped his hand down over his mouth and sit in the foetal position for the rest of the night. But as the love potion slowly moved through his brain, and through the veins in his body, Ted didn't care. She was beautiful and all he wanted to do was be close to her for the rest of the evening.

Andromeda sat down gracefully, it was hard not to when you were wearing a corset, even though she had not done it up as tight as her someone else might have. She felt a lot more comfortable now, being out of the way and having someone to talk too, and was beginning to think that this might not be a waste after all.
She looked down at her cup with a puzzled expression. “What do you mean?” she asked Ted, but he looked, strange. She frowned at him, feeling a little bit concerned. Somebody hadn’t poisoned the drinks, had they? She was just about so suggest the go tell somebody, preferably a teacher so they could go check it out when he asked her to dance.
“Oh, “she said, started. But if he wanted to dance then that must mean he was alright, didn’t it? He still looked kind of odd though. And he wanted to dance; Andromeda felt a knot forming in her belly at the thought. She could dance, adequately, adequately meaning that she didn’t step on her partner’s toes, but she had never much enjoyed dancing. That may have been because of whom she was dancing with rather than dancing itself, but still, it didn’t exactly hold pleasant memories for her.
And if she did go out on the dance floor, there would be other people there. People who knew her as a Syltherin and a Black, and for all she knew both her sisters were here somewhere. But like everything else with Ted, one look and she found her mouth saying things her mind wasn’t quite thinking.
“Sure." And the next thing she knew her hand was reaching out to grasp his and she was pulling herself up. His hand felt warm under hers. She grasped it more firmly, though whether it was out of nerves or pleasure she didn’t know. One thing about ted though, he made her feel steady, secure, at least in some ways. But another part of, a part of her that wasn’t connected to Slytherin’s and Bellatrix and muggleborns and purebloods, was trying very hard not to freak out.

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
[ ooc: okay, so just pretend that Ted hasn't actually taken any of the love potion and instead has just asked her to dance... ]
"Agh, nevermind," he said as he spat his drink back out into the cup. "There's nothing in it. It just tastes horrible." He pulled a face as he set his almost untouched drink back down onto the tale. "Who makes this stuff, anyway?"
Ted's eyes followed the couples on the dance-floor as they whirled in and out of each other intricket patterns and movements. It looked like a lot of fun - but, unfortunately for Ted, he wasn't the world's best dancer. He wasn't uncoordinated or anything - it was more that he didn't quiet know how to move his hips like the rest of the girls seemed to.
He looked over at Andromeda and thought back to the wonderful week that they'd shared together so far, choosing to sit with each other in class and at lunchtimes. He'd barely scraped the surface when it came to getting to know her, but there was always something that made him want to come back for more, almost as if he just couldn't get enough. There was something new every day to learn - like, for example, her favourite animal, which was a horse.
Before he could stop the words flowing out of his mouth, he'd asked her to dance - to publicly stand up with him. Because of his blood status and the fact that of their house differences, they'd had to keep their friendship a secret.
As Andromeda took his hand, Ted felt a jolt run through him almost like electricity. It was the first skin-to-skin contact they'd had in their short time together. Her hand was light and delicate and Ted's rough skin enfolded hers quite easily.
Smiling, Ted led her out onto the floor and slipped a hand around her tiny waist, while the other pulled her hand into a waltzing position. Ted wanted to say something - to break the silence between them, but both his mind and his mouth ran dry. Here he was, dancing with the prettiest girl in the room. He smiled nervously, feeling a lump rise to his throat. Well, this was new.
"You're quite a good dancer," he said quietly as he spun her around, finally finding the right words to say. She looked radiant, but that was something that Ted was quiet keen on keeping to himself.

Andromeda felt her heart skip a beat as his hand slid around her waist. She had just remembered that a proper waltz required you to be quite close to your partner, though he didn't draw her as much as he could have, they were still standing rather close, closer than they'd ever been to each other before.
Another thing about dancing, there was no way to not look at the person your dancing with without feeling rude. But looking at him for longer than few seconds seemed impossible, and yet, she couldn't stop looking at him. she had never really thought about what she might have wanted her future—companion—to looks like. But she if she had, she would have wanted him to look like Ted. Soft-looking hair and deep eyes. Strong, but not cruel or dark like some of the Slytherins. She would wanted him to bright, like the sun, like Ted....
She shook her head, such thoughts would lead her no where she could go.
It was in the moments of silence that followed the beginning of their dance that she allowed herself to look around the room. There were a lot of people around them, though no one seemed to be paying her any particular attention, but that keep that uncomfortable knot from forming in her core. she took a deep breath, wishing she could stop worrying all the time, and for once just enjoy the moment.
And then ted had pulled her back and she was giggling as he complimented her dancing. "That's because, unlike Sirius, I didn't skive off dancing lessons." She couldn't help but delve a little into memories of her childhood at that. She sighed, a small, sad, smile lingering on her lips. "Your not so bad yourself." She said lightly, though she was a little impressed. "You didn't really strike me as the dancing type."

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
There was something different about Meda. Ted preferred her company to every other person he knew, yet, there was still something special about it. The way his heart flipped every time she came into the room, or the butterflies he would get knowing that lunchtime was coming up and he'd get to sit by her side. She was intelligent, beautiful, and could make Ted laugh like nobody else could. There was something special in it that Ted couldn't quite put his finger on.
As she talked about Sirius, and how he'd skipped dancing lessons, it finally dawned on Ted. He liked her. And not just in the 'lets-be-friends' kind of way, either. A lump rose to his throat as the realisation hit him like a sack of bricks. "You had dancing lessons as a kid?" he asked with wide eyes, trying to keep the conversation going as he struggled with his newfound feelings.
He laughed nervously as she complimented his dancing. He'd suddenly turned into a nervous ball of energy - something that was completely new for him. His hands suddenly felt clammy and his heart started to race. "Umm, yeah," he said, stuttering a few times. "I'm not much of a dancer, really. "The only practice I ever really got was at weddings. I'd stand on my mum's feet and she'd whirl us around the dance floor."
Ted mentally slapped himself. He sounded like such a dork!
What would Meda say if she found out about his new... development? Would that mean that they wouldn't be able to sit together at lunch anymore? It was quite unorthodox for a Slytherin and a Hufflepuff to hang out anyway, but with an added level of one-sided romance, it had the potential to bloom into something awful.
Ted's mouth went dry at the last thought. He had to keep this a secret from her. She couldn't know how he felt - it would be too awkward.

She nodded in response to his question. She was glad that words still seemed to flow between them like water, because for a while it seemed that change of scenery had brought a new barrier to there conversation.
"Yes, In the Black household where a little bit, old fashioned, which means I've learned lots of things that were practical back in the 16th century." She smiled a little, but she also felt a little strange telling him this. She didn't really talk about her family or home life with much of anyone.
She really did smile when he talked about his experiences. It was a rather tender image, imagining a much shorter ted being whirled around by his mother, though of course she had no idea what his mother looked like. She tried to imagine what kind of wedding something like that could happen. It certainly didn't fit in with any of the formal weddings she'd been too, which had been a lot since the Blacks were one of the most respected among other pure-blood families. The weddings she remembered weren't exactly, cheerful. They weren't somber, it was just that every one was to focused on making a good impression that there was no time for fun or real laughter. Even the bride and groom remained perfectly respectful, since often times these were arranged marriages and not by choice. She tried to imagine her own mother whirling her around like that, and couldn't. It wasn't that Druella wasn't a caring mother, but she didn't interact with her children the same way other people did.
She sighed, sometimes it felt like she and ted came from completely different worlds, and it was hard since he was the only friend besides her family that she'd managed to keep around for more than a couple of days. but she'd only been around Ted for a few days, which meant there was still time for him to grow disillusioned with her and leave, something that was bound to happen.
"That's sounds wonderful." Even she could her the wistfulness in her tone. She sighed, feeling suddenly exhausted. She had the strangest urge to rest her head on Ted's chest, but that was ridiculously. she straightened, becoming suddenly hypersensitive to the small space between, she could have sworn it had shrunk a little.
She needed to refocus on the conversions, She racked her brain for something to say, but found that was she wanted to know more about Ted's personal life.
"Tell me about her, your mother I mean." It was a rather broad question, but she hoped he would not feel obligated to answer it in a way that made him uncomfortable.

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN Ted couldn't help but laugh. "Sounds intense," he chuckled, unable to contain himself. He wanted to know more about what Andromeda's childhood was like, but the questions could wait for another lunchtime where he'd surely get the chance to ask them. His heart swelled at the thought of getting to spend more time with Andromeda. It was the best part of his day.
Ted watched as Andromeda sighed and became lost in her thoughts. "Do you want to talk about it?" he offered as Andromeda's expression became pained. He hoped he wasn't boring her with talk about his muggle life.
"Yeah," he said in agreement, smiling as he thought back to the memory of it. "That was a fun wedding." It was one of Ted's cousin's weddings which was held in Ted's grandparent's backyard. Put that together with the invention of fairy-lights and it equates to one good evening for a five year old.
"My mother?" Ted wasn't quite expecting that question, although he was still willing to answer it. An image flashed through Ted's mind of him taking Andromeda home for the holidays to introduce her to his parents, but that was quickly squashed. He lived a simpleton life with them and it would probably be quite boring for Meda. "Well," he started, trying to think about what he would say.
"People tell me I look a lot like her," he started, trying to give a mental picture. "And she's the best cook in the world. She cares a lot about me, seeing as I'm her only son, but sometimes she doesn't know when to stop talking," he grinned. "What about your mother? What's she like?"
The song ended and the couples around them broke apart to either clap for the band or take a seat. Almost panicking, as Ted really didn't want to stop dancing with Meda, he let her go for only a second to clap for the band. As the band started to play a slower song, Ted put his hand out towards Meda, asking her if she'd like to dance again.
There were probably a dozen other people in the room that wanted to dance with the Black beauty. Ted would have sooner punched them rather than let them dance with her (and Ted despised violence).

Andromeda shrugged at his response, though still smiling. She supposed it was, in a way.
His next words cut through her reverie like a knife. "What?" she said, confused. Then she realized that some of what she was feeling must have been showing. Her new revelation felt like a weight inside her chest, and she wanted to get rid of it, but she couldn't. That conversation would probably end their little friendship faster than anything else could. "Oh, no, It's fine, I'm fine." she said as she attempted a smile, then quickly changed the subject.
She tried to imagine a lady who looked like Ted. She supposed she would have the same hair color, same smile, same radiance. She could easily see someone like that being the person he described. She smiled a little when he said she didn't know when to stop talking, because that sounded like her mother as well.
And now he was asking about her mother. She sighed and looked away. The first thing that always came to mind when people mentioned her mother was her pureblood obsession, though of course she couldn't tell him about that. "She's...." she trailed off, searching for the words. "She's very elegant, and proper all the time." She shook her head.
"She's expects a lot of us, and she sets a lot standards for us, to make sure we don't, embarrass the family or anything like that." One of those standards was to never associate with muggleborns, but she kept that part quiet. "It's not like she doesn't care, she just shows it by constantly reminding us to be better." She hoped she hadn't put her mother in unfair light, she didn't want Ted to get messed up opinions about her, it was her mother after all. You owed things to the people who raised you. Like obedience....
The the song ended, she felt her arms drop toward her sides as the music stopped. What happened now? Did they go sit down? But Ted held out his hand and without thinking it through she accepted. There was something about dancing while you talked that made the conversation more,—intimate, though using that word made her shiver.
"Are you sure there isn't some other striking girl waiting to dance with you?" she kept her voice light and teasing, though something about the idea of him dancing with another girl twisted her stomach.

UNTIL I OPENED MY EYES AND WALKED OUT THE DOOR AND THE SKIES CAME TUMBLING DOWN
Ted chuckled. "I don't think she'd like me, then," he said as a joke, referring to Andromeda's mother. There were probably a thousand reasons why Mrs. Black wouldn't like him, but Ted chose not to think about that. After all, they were at a ball, and things were meant to be fun and light.
As the slower song started, Ted decided to try something new. Something other than the waltz position they'd been in for the previous dance. He slipped both his hands around her waist and put her hands on his shoulders, turning the slower song into a slow dance. He rested his chin against the side of her head and inhaled deeply. As weird as it sounded, her hair smelt amazing.
He chuckled softly. "I'm sure Diggory wants a dance, but he can wait," he smiled. He wondered if he was taking Meda away from her countless dates, but after a moment of deliberation, he decided they could stuff it. "There's no one else I'd rather dance with." He hoped he wasn't going too far, or that his words would cause a split in their friendship.
It had seemed like the two of them had been very careful about what they were saying and doing. Neither of them wanted their friendship to end. And as for Ted, he never wanted this dance to end. There was something nice about having Andromeda tightly in his arms. His heart was finally beating normally and he felt relaxed. He could do this for hours.
Ted shut his eyes and swayed on the spot, Andromeda held tightly in his arms. He could only hope that this slower song was going to last a little while longer.

The Halloween balls were always the same. The hall was always decorated with the most elaborate decorations, the students and professors always put maximum effort into their costumes. The majority of students would have a brilliant night, laughing and dancing with their friends. The dance floor was packed, it was hard to distinguish who was who, and that was without the added problem of the costumes and masks.
After entering the hall over half an hour ago, Bella had headed straight over to the drinks table. It was in that position she had remained, near the back of the hall. It was a perfect position for her. She was able to see everyone, keep an eye on what was going on. Her eyes drifted over various younger Slytherins in the corner whispering, a group of loud Ravenclaw girls laughing at a shared joke. Neither group held her attention for more than a few seconds.
Eyes returning to the dance floor, she scanned the collection of people once more. Her younger sister Andromeda caught her attention, as did the person she was dancing with. Bella moved slightly to the right, pushing a young student out of the way. No. Surely she was dreaming.
A mudblood? Why was her sister dancing with a mudblood? Her pureblood sister, from the noble house of Black? She barely noticed her legs were carrying her towards the couple. Their embrace was tight, almost intimate. Her heels clicked on the marble floor as she stormed over.
Eyes narrowed, she came to a halt in front of the pair. She placed her hand around her sister’s forearm. Her grip wasn’t tight, but it was firm enough to make it quite clear who was in control of the situation. “As much as I hate to break up this cosy gathering,” she began. Her voice was cold and icy, and the look she was giving Ted was deadly. “You’d be wise to follow me into the entrance hall. Both of you.” And with that she turned on her heel, heading towards the door. There was going to be serious words exchanged between the three when they were out of sight.
(OOC: I’m sorry it’s so awful guys!)

Andromeda felt herself relax. No, her mother would not like him, but for whatever reason she didn't care about that right now. The song that had started was much slower, and before Andromeda could catch on to what was happening he lifted her arms to his shoulders and his were wrapping around her waist and suddenly they were close. Very close.
She could feel the heat coming off of him. Feel the way her skin seemed to flame under his touch. She could feel his breath on her neck and her heart was pounding madly. Her breathe seemed to be catching in her throat and was coming out in shallow gasps. She couldn't breathe. It was almost like she was suffocating, except she wasn't afraid.
His voice soft and warm in her ear, and something within her stirred at his words. Something like, like longing. But she still couldn't think, couldn't get her head around what was happening, that it was happening. But it was, and if she wasn't mistaken her lips were beginning to pull up into a smile.
And the she felt something hard or arm, she flung out to find Bellatrix giving her a cold stare, her dark eyes piercing and icy. Andromeda's mouth gaped open. She had completely forgotten where she was, what she was doing, but now it all came rushing over her. Her heartbeat quickened and her throat felt even more constrained, only now dread twisted its way into her stomach. She wanted to escape, but she dared not defy her sister, not now.
She glanced over at Ted, her emotions flickering over her face in a confusing, but before long she had to look away, eyes staring at the floor and if not for the corset her shoulders would have been hunched over as well. She followed her sister out of the hall blindly. A part of her wanted to reach out and grab Ted's hand, just to assure her that he was still there, and maybe this would all go away. But she couldn't, not now, and perhaps not ever again.
(OOC:It worked for me:))
