Chase hadn't responded to Emily and for that she was thankful, though really he hadn't had time before Lachlan had woken and suddenly began demanding to know what was going on. Emily groaned silently, she loved her friend dearly and wouldn't have him any other way than the way he was but he was so damn protective sometimes. So much so it became slightly annoying at times but she'd never tell him that, it was actually nice to have someone who felt that protective over her, aside from her parents she'd never had that.
Chase replied before she could and Emily looked at him for a moment, mulling over his reply before she glanced down at Lachlan. "Chase is right, don't sweat it...we've sorted things so no biggie..." she told him, really hoping to ease any of his worries before he got himself all worked up again. Emily looked away from Lachlan to Chase then away from them both, glancing down at her hands then the door wondering when they'd let them go home, and actually wishing they'd get a move on.
A part of her was dreading returning to the school purely for the fact she now knew there were stories floating around about what happened. There was no doubt in her mind there'd be a tonne of questions from her peers when she returned, the stares and whispers she knew she could handle. However being in the presence of those who had attacked them and only knowing about 1 out of 3 of them put her on edge. Sighing quietly she silently began wondering what she was going to do in regards to Bellatrix, keep an eye on her, confront her, or hand her in. Emily didn't know and the more she thought on it the less she wanted to work it out now.
Looking back at the two boys she smiled slightly though again it didn't touch her eyes, that familiar sparkle in them right now was absent, "I hope Professor Dumbledore brings that school work for me later..." she said absently, having had requested the said work yesterday. Thankfully Professor Dumbledore hadn't tried to dissuade her from work like her parents and Doctors, he knew without her saying that she needed something to help take her mind away from that night.

Lachlan narrowed his eyes at Chase. He knew what Chase was like when it came to women. Just because Chase was okay with it, didn't mean that the other party involved was. But, as Emily spoke up and confirmed that she was okay and there was no harm done, Lachlan backed off. It could have been because he didn't want to fight Chase about it, or because Emily said it was fine, or even because after the ordeal, he was too mentally exhausted to have to process it.
But, if it was all okay, who was Lachlan to argue with that. He let his head fall back onto Emily's shoulder and he took a deep breath. Emily said something about school-work, but Lachlan could barely hear her. "Mmmm," he said, hoping that he was agreeing with the right thing.
He wondered what would happen when they got back to school. It was only a couple of days until they would be released - but then what? Staring, pointing. An endless line of people coming up to them and asking if the rumours were true. Perhaps Dumbledore would call an assembly and ask them all not to. Just thinking about it was exhausting.
Lachlan bit his lip and looked over at Chase. It was clear to see on his friend's face that he was worried. "Chase," Lachlan said, gaining some strength in his piss-weak voice. "We're gonna be okay." Maybe not now, and maybe not for a few weeks - hell, months, even - but they were going to pull through. Maybe it was because Lachlan needed to hear it for himself, but for whatever reason behind it, Chase needed to hear it too. People were going to be worried - that was a given, but for now, both Emily and Lachlan just needed time to process what had happened.
He tilted his head to look up at Emily. Was she getting tired, too?

If there was one thing Chase wasn’t expecting it was for Lachie to just let the topic drop so easily. It only went as evidence of how run down and worn out Lachie was after the attack. He was damn worried about his friend. He watched Lachie’s face as he seemed to drift off into his own thoughts. What about? Chase really wished he knew legilimency at times like this just so that he could have some idea of what to say. Right now, his mind was pulling a blank. Chase looked away and sighed. God damn it! Why couldn’t he have just been reasonable? He could have just accepted the fact that Lachie would be back at Hogwarts in a few days and Trent could have come to visit. Trent would have known exactly what to say and do… Not him. He was bloody useless. He sighed and stared down at the floor. He should have let Trent come… They’d both said Lachie was asking after him. Chase hated himself sometimes. He could be such an inconsiderate prick. The mention of his name stirred him back out of his mind and back to the scene in front of him. A scene he shouldn’t be part of, part of his mind whispered. Lachie told him not to worry and that the two of them would be okay, looking up at Emily as he said it. Chase smiled back at him weakly. ”Yeah, man. You are gunna be okay. ‘Cos you’re gunna have us beside you the whole rest of the way.” As far as encouraging words went, Chase knew his sucked. But sucky words were better than no words. What would Trent have told them?

Emily was happy Lachlan didn't push the issue any further, the last thing she needed or wanted was him blowing things way out of proportion. Running a hand through her hair she sighed quietly, the pain in her body partially numbed now thanks to her just taking those painkillers, hopefully the Healers would allow them to take some home as well as she doubted the pain would disappear any time soon.
As Chase and Lachlan conversed Emily smiled ever so slightly suddenly feeling like an intruder on a personal moment. It was nice to see how close they were, she had no doubts that with Trent and Chase by his side like Chase was promising now, that Lachlan was going to be just fine when they got back to the school. Deciding to give them their moment, and also needing to get out of the room for a little while. "I think I'm going to go for a walk...stretch my legs a little..." she said softly, looking down at Lachlan. The idea of moving was unappealing but she knew how bad it was for your legs simply laying in bed for days on end and wanted to at least try and make an effort to get some normalcy back into her life.
"I'll let you guys talk about whatever you talk about...but Lach you should try and get some sleep soon. I have dreamless sleeping potion on my cabinet." she said, slowly and gently easing herself up into a straight sitting position. Pausing as a stab of pain shot through her. Sliding her legs off the side of the bed, she winced at the cold tiles, but gripping the cabinet, forced herself to stand, her legs feeling shaky as she did. Slowly she stepped forward, smiling softly at the two boys as she went, "Good of you to come Chase..." she told the other boy before stepping out of the room and into the corridor, releasing a deep breath when the door closed behind her.
Every step felt alien, sent a tremor of pain through her still frail body. Emily only made it to the end of the corridor before she had to sit down on one of the chairs and rest for a bit, but still she wasn't ready to return to her room. Maybe she'd just stay out here for a while, at least she could keep her mind off the attack.

Lachlan smiled bleakly at Chase, unable to muster up the strength for one of his trademark, wide-eyed grins. What had he done to deserve such good friends? Both Trent and Chase would take care of him. And he, in turn, would take care of Emily. He felt Emily shift beside him and his focus shifted to the pain that Emily was in as she stood up.
"Thanks, Emily," he said, the corners of his lips turning up at her. He watched as she leaned on the cabinet for support and shakily made her way out of the room, letting the door swing softly behind her. Perhaps she was feeling over crowded - their room had been full of people all day long, and she'd been cramped up in her bed since first arriving in St. Mungo's three days ago.
The bed felt lonely without her in it, but Lachlan wasn't sure he wanted to shift back to his own empty one. He leant over and grabbed the Dreamless Sleep Potion between his clammy hands and pulled it closer to his body.
A wave of tiredness washed over him like the sea lapping up against a sandy beach. "D'you mind if I get some rest?" he asked his friend, who was still sitting at the foot of Emily's bed. It had been an exhausting couple of days, not only for Lachlan, but for Emily and Marlene, as well as their families.
He knew Chase wouldn't mind. They'd have plenty of time to talk about it and catch up later. But, as Lachlan untwisted the lid on the Dreamless Sleep Potion and drank from it's depths, a wave of relief washed over him. No horrible thoughts or memories would plague his mind tonight.

"Sure. Get some rest."
Even as he said it Lachie was already taking a long gulp from the dreamless sleep bottle and from where Chase sat he could see Lachie visibly relax.
As his friends' eyes began to close Chase leaned over and took the small bottle from his hand before it fell and placed it back on the nearest cabinet.
By time he had done that Lachie was asleep and that innocent, peaceful look that you so often saw on the faces of the sleeping had returned to him. Looking at him, Chase felt another wavy of fury wash over him. How could anyone do something like that to him? To any of them?
Shaking his head slowly he left one had rest on Lachie's for a few seconds before standing up. Even then he was slightly reluctant to leave. "Sleep well, Lachie..."
With a final sigh Chase spun of heel and left. There wasn't a lot more that he could do here now...
(ooc: sorry that took ages and that its really crappy...)
