Brylyn laughed softly as the girl winced noticeably. It was obvious she was all to familiar with the scolding parental figure. Whether mom, dad or an aunt or uncle. There was always a tone and a certain name you never wanted to hear. For her it was her full name or the name missy. "Abigail huh? That's a unique name too. I bet you had all sorts of nicknames. Aby, Gail. Abs." she said to the girl with a smile.
As Tay finally took her shirt, she smiled happily. She felt helpful for once during their afternoon meet. It was after all her fault the girl had fallen in the bird excrement and was now completely covered in it. Lending the girl her shirt was the least she could do. And was glad to due to the fact she was able to help out. It want overly often she wore double shirts either, meaning it was fate to help out Abigail. As she thanked her she nodded her head, happy to do so. "No problem. It was the least I could do. I still feel responsible for this whole fiasco." she responded with a apologetic expression. The shirt actually suited the girl was the first thought that went through Brylyns head. The second was as the girl wiped herself off some more, and was that she couldn't believe how much of the bird excrement got on the girl. It was an impressive amount really. "Wet or covered in bird droppings? Is either a win?" she questioned with a chuckle.
"I would imagine they have their own lair within the castle. Probably only they can apparate into it. Tricky little buggers they are." she commented with a laugh. She had seen them appear and disappear in a matter of three seconds.
Brylyn shook her head. She doubted anyone could blackmail Dumbledore. It seemed highly improbable. Nothing and she believed nothing would corner that man. He seemed to know every trick in the book, he was eccentric and brilliant all in one. Filch on the other hand was a git, a no good greasy git. To even think that he could trap Dumbledore was a laugh. As Tay spoke, Brylyn laughed. "Possibility number one." she mused.
Haring her next question she shrugged her shoulders. "Mixed feelings. Yourself?" she responded.

Once again, Tay visibly winced. "Aby was a popular one from my mum. Hated it. I hate Abigail. It's the worst thing I've ever heard and definitely doesn't suit me." And yet, as soon as she got home for summer it would be straight back into the 'Abigail' world, where her parents, especially her mother, would refuse to acknowledge her being called Tay.
Tay laughed when Brylyn said she felt responsible, and she shook her head. "Hardly. I would probably have managed to fall off whether you'd been here or not. I have no balance or coordination, and I rarely go a day without falling flat on my face. Or... in this case, luckily, my back." She couldn't have coped with falling face first into this muck. Bottoms down fair enough, but there was a limit to what she could deal with.
It was strange to think so much about the house elves. Pretty much no one ever did. Then again, there were a lot of people in this school who didn't even seem to know that there were house elves working here, so no wonder no one questioned it. One of the first things Tay had ever questioned when she came to Hogwarts was how all the washing was done and where the food came from. Even magic had its limits.
Tay laughed along with the other girl as they thought about the crazy concept of Filch being able to blackmail Dumbledore. Why would Dumbledore even hire someone like him to work here? It just didn't make sense really, did it?
Picking up her guitar, Tay asked about the summer. She shrugged a little, not really sure what to say. "I guess the same. I just want this year to be over. There's been too many things this year that I just want to forget."
Tay took a few steps towards the door that led out of the owlery before stopping and turning back to Brylyn. "Did you have a letter to send?" That was kind of the reason that most people made the hike up to the owlery for, after all.

Brylyn felt herself giggle as the other girl winced at the nickname. It was quite obvious she was not a fan of her first name or any nickname that could be derived from it. It was understandable, there was some names that just never should be given to a child. It would be a hated name from day one. "I couldn't tell you hated it." she said lightly with a grin making its way to her face.
The girl denied it was her fault. But from where she stood, surprising her and all, was the reason behind the fall into bird excrement. But it seems that this Tay, was just as stubborn as she was. Neither would give up it seemed. It would be back and forth for the majority of the conversation. "How about we are both to blame? You for being clumsy, and me for startling you." she said to her offering a truce between whose fault it was.
The topics they spoke were random, varied and ever changing. It was interesting to say the least. The house elves was unexpected. Hardly anyone spoke of them. Unless visiting the kitchens for a late night snack. Something Bry had done countless times over the years. Even Dumbledore getting blackmailed was a highly unusual topic, but still funny and interesting. Watching her pick her guitar up, she hoped it wasn't wrecked in anyway. She would feel immensely guilty, and have to little by little in unobvious ways repay her. "Yes, end of years do tend to drag on. Lots of terribleness with class this year?" she questioned, curious to know why this girl wanted To go home.
The letter she had slipped into her pocket upon entrance was still there, and she of course had forgotten completely about it. Giving the girl a sheepish grin she pulled it out, the owl perching in her arm while she tied her letter around its leg before it took off. "Yes, done. Thanks for the reminder." she said with a chuckle.

Tay reached out a hand towards Brylyn. "Truce it is." She always blamed herself for being clumsy and unbalanced, and in this situation, if their places were reversed, the other girl would probably have jumped, but Tay doubted she'd have jumped so much she unsteadied herself and fell.
Tay suddenly found looking at her guitar to be very interesting, but that was mostly because she wasn't too good with talking about things that bothered her. Class... She really wished it had just been class that was getting her down. "Not class, no, though I have missed a fair few due to injury." And considering how much of her clutziness Brylyn had already witnessed, she didn't think the fifth year would find that too hard to believe. "More like I feel like a complete idiot after this year." Why couldn't she have just kept on as normal and stayed away from boys and stuff? Her life would have been so much similar.
She watched as the older girl pulled her letter from her pocket it. As soon as it came into sight an owl swooped down, eagerly ready to take the letter away. "Last letter home before summer?" Tay headed towards the door and the steps leading down. She looked down them. "Here's hoping I'm capable of multi-tasking." Going downstairs was something she always dreaded, and the thing about being a Ravenclaw that she hated the most. She just hoped she didn't make any more of a fool of herself right now by tumbling down these.

Brylyn smiled largely, taking the hand that was reached out to her. "I am glad we came to this maturely." she said to the girl with a grin. Of course neither of them were being immature. It was just who each one was. Both denying, and trying to take the blame for something they felt guilty for. Silly really, but here they were.
Brylyn watched as Tay took a keen interest in her guitar. Obviously a sore subject she wasn't wishing to talk about. And although Brylyn liked to know, she knew also when to shut her mouth. This seemed to be as good a time as any to do just that. Instead of being a pestering person she shrugged her shoulders lightly. "Well any reason to miss class is a good one. Or so I think." she said lightly, jokingly trying to lighten the mood. "Idiot moments are many. I bet no one remembers." she added with a smile. There was always so much stuff that happened at Hogwarts, it was hard to keep up.
She nodded her head, watching as the letter flew out the window. "Yup, last one." she said, as she turned following the girl from the owlery. She could hardly believe another year had come and gone. But here she was, almost boarding the train once again. Grinning at the girls comment she took a step in front of her, walking slowly down the stairs. 'Well I am right in front. So I can prevent you from falling the entire way."

"Idiot moments are many. I bet no one remembers."
Tay smiled sadly. "I'm used to idiot moments. I've tripped and falled so many times I'm far beyond letting them phase me anymore. I just wish I knew when to keep my distance." She's thought she'd been making the right choices this year but that didn't seem to be the case, and it was definitely showing now. She sometimes looked in the mirror and asked herself who that girl staring back was, because she definitely didn't seem anything like the girl she'd seen there last summer.
She watched the owl soar out of the window and away. Last owl before summer... Thank god they'd be leaving in just a couple of days. Tay turned away and headed for the steps. The owlery steps were a lot narrower and higher set than most of the other stairs in the castle were, so they were always risky. She wasn't even sure why she'd decided the make the treacherous journey up them in the first place.
Brylyn moved in front of her to walk down them. "So... if I fall, we both fall. That sounds fair." She then shut up and tried to concentrate of putting one foot in front of the other.

Brylyn grinned, idiot moments happened often. She was used to them. Then again, some people didn't mind her idiot moments due to her being a veela. Some people just got to mesmerized. Ridiculous really. "Well that's good then. Idiot moments I find make life interesting. Especially those insert foot in mouth moments." she said to her with a laugh. [remembering the words Tay said she looked curiously at her, "Distance for whom?" Of course she didn't have to tell her, but Brylyn was curious.
Brylyn was sad, knowing the owl would be the last she sent home this summer. Oh well. She had to get over it, another year was complete at Hogwarts, and she was almost positive she hadn't failed out as of yet. Then again things surprised you. She might have done amazing. She suppressed a laugh at the thought, no way was that happening.
"Yup, we might as well fall together. I feel bad enough you fell alone the first time, although I am slightly glad." she said to her, turning the memory into a joke. It would be a story to tell one day in the future. A story you mentioned to your kids when talking about your Hogwarts days or if she ever met up with Tay they could reminisce on the day they met.
