The breeze whipped around her body, causing her to teeter slightly on her perch. Her eyes were squeezed shut, the toes of her boots just barely peeking over the edge of the stone ledge that separated the inside of the North Tower from the great abyss of the outside. The sun was setting in the distance, casting a soft orange glow over everything, including the stone courtyard that lay below; leading off towards Hogsmeade.
Anyone who had walked in at that moment would have thought Mary Macdonald to be suicidal, as she was practically dangling off the stone ledge of the opening of the tower. But no...Mary was far from suicidal, she was generally content though often times found herself conflicted with the inner workings of her never-resting mind.
It wasn't the need for death that encouraged this. It was the thrill she craved, the trill paired with the thought of falling...the way the breeze rocked her to the brink of toppling, but she never did.. Her hands were clasped around the top of the opening to keep steady, the cold stone chilling her already slightly trembling hands. Her eyes popped open to gaze out at the glow of the sunset on the land. She'd often dreamt of this...hanging on the edge, the threat of falling.
Her heart pumping harshly in her chest, a ridiculous but slightly ...arousing feeling that she never understood. In those dreams she found the world flipped upside down; and as she tumbled from the window she soared through the sky and the stars. Breaking up the moon and the sun, until all was peaceful. The dreams often caused her to wake in a cold sweat...in a good way. Perhaps it was sadistic and wrong, but there were quite a few things about Mary that were sadistic and wrong...
The way for eleven years she constantly wrote letters to a woman who had abandoned her family because she thought her children were possessed by the devil...not gifted with magic. The way she escaped into her own head for hours and sometimes longed to never come out again....Masochism perhaps? She knew not.
Mary was usually bright and bubbly...keeping a mask of wildness and fearlessness...when though that was her personality there were things that lay below that no one would ever guess.. She was a happy girl...cheerful but darkness took over everyone every once in awhile.
She let her hands slip away from where they rested to steady her, and let herself balance and relax. Taking in gusts of clean evening air that she let fill her body, cleansing all that lay inside before expelling it from her body in slow breaths.
Everything that had plagued her or fouled her gone...released upon the wind floating down to the sunset soaked courtyard below..If she had been a jumpier female Mary would have stumbled and fallen at the sound of a voice floating towards her through the dark stone tower. "Have a death wish?" It murmured. She reached up and gripped again to steady herself. "Not particularly.." She responded sitting down upon the ledge and turning to face the person with a tell tale smirk.

Sirius was bored and restless. Not even three hours of practice on the Quidditch pitch could settle him. To make matters worse James was nowhere to be found, Remus had his nose stuck in a book and Peter was too busy sniffing after James more than likely. So he'd opted instead for hanging out in the kitchen for a bit, having missed dinner. The elves as always were more than happy to have him there, though most of them simply reminded him of Kreacher, and man did he hate that elf almost as much as it seemed to despise him. Then again it seemed to worship his parents, so it figured.
Growling lightly Sirius slumped back against the wall, taking a large gulp of pumpkin juice. Part of him had to wonder if the school was so quiet out of fear. It would make perfect sense, even he was a little on edge though not as much as most of the other students seemed to be. The attack that had happened just before break seemed to be all people could talk about, it had been incredibly brutal. The Gryffindors appeared to be more on edge with it being one of their own. Sirius himself was determined to get some kind of revenge on the Slytherins, those b*****ds seemed to find the whole attack hilarious.
Growling again out of frustration, Sirius stood and strode from the kitchens, his wand in his hand, hoping beyond hope there was a Slytherin out and about somewhere for him to curse. After a while of walking around though he was beginning to lose hope, and surrendered to the thought that tonight just wasn't going to be the night for pranks. Running his hand through his messy hair he made his way up to the Astronomy Tower, always a good place to hang out and if he was lucky there'd be a pretty girl up there all but willing to help him relieve some of this boredom and frustration.
As it turned out luck was definitely on his side tonight and a wicked grin spread over his face as he stepped out onto the tower, his eyes immediately zeroing in on the red headed beauty practically hanging off the edge of the tower. Mary MacDonald, he'd recognize her anywhere. "Have a death wish?" he asked, his voice low, cautious so as not to frighten her. "Not particularly...." she replied and he smirked as she turned on the ledge, now sat down and a playful smirk on her own face. "Sure looked that way sweetheart..." he commented, letting his eyes roam over her in a predatory kind of way not hiding the appreciation there as he stalked towards her, coming to a stop in front of her but just out of arms reach. "So what you doin up here all on ya lonesome?" he asked.

He truly looked like a devious dog. That predatory smirk he gave her as he looked her over. She'd been friends with him since their first year and he'd definitely grown from mischeivous little kid to handsome and interesting young adult. And damn sexy to boot. As he got older he became more devious and that boyish grin turned into that telltale smirk that she'd come to know and quite enjoy. "Yes I'm sure it seems that way but, I'm not quite done living yet. Come back next week we'll see where I am."
He seemed bored, why else would he be here after all. Looking for something to entertain himself obviously. And she was sure that he was hoping to meet a girl up there somewhere for a good time. That was just how he was. She had to admit if she hadn't been the one up here and it was another girl instead, she would've been quite jealous if she'd heard. Though she wouldn't quite like to admit it, Sirius was something special to her. They'd dated briefly as young teens and decided to be just friends. However they were friends with benefits nowadays, nothing binding or serious.
But he was special to her, made her feel something she didn't like to admit to feeling. "Well I came up here for some fresh air... figured someone would find me eventually and here you are you dodgy thing you." She teased and stood up coming towards him. "what about you....your boy friends won't let you play reindeer games?"

Sirius couldn't help but roll his eyes at Mary's more than a little, morbid response to his joke. Chuckling he shook his head at her and moved forwards towards where she stood. He'd been looking for a little entertainment, relief from his boredom and coming across Mary certainly guaranteed him a little fun for the night, maybe not the kind he was looking for, or perhaps it would, of course he wouldn't complain. In fact he happened to quite like the idea, after all spending time with Mary was always some of the best kind of fun around, the girl was a whirlwind, a force to be reckoned with and there was no kind of pressure with her which made things a thousand times better.
Maybe he did like her a bit more than he cared to admit, considering his track record with women and the fact that he vowed to never get into anything serious, but it didn't matter, he'd never tell her. Once upon a time they'd dated, but they'd been young and really it didn't matter that much, they'd quickly decided they were better as friends, and to make it even more brilliant, they were friends with very fun benefits to boot. Now why would he want to go and complicate this perfect balance they'd created? Sure he'd gladly beat any other guy who dared place his hands on her but as long as she didn't know about that then what did it matter...
"Well I came up here for some fresh air... figured someone would find me eventually and here you are you dodgy thing you...what about you....your boy friends won't let you play reindeer games?"
Sirius smirked as Mary began approaching him, her tone taking a teasing kind of edge to it. "My boy-friends as you put them are wandering around somewhere, no doubt James is getting it on with some chick...which is great, he hasn't mentioned Evan's in a long while..." he said, hoping his friend was finally moving on from the girl who wasn't interested in giving him the time of day, even more so since the closet incident. Coming to a stop in front of Mary he smiled, "So you weren't waiting for anyone in particular? Interesting...so now that we're both here, alone what should we do...?" he asked, his voice taking on a husky tone.

The two of them had had some fun in their days. Knowing that if ever bored or lonely they could simply turn to one another and work out whatever was bothering them. It was easy for her around him, he took the pressure off of having to work to impress some guy who would only end up falling back into the shadows later on. A useless waste of her time that would never pan out. With sirius though, even if they weren't in a relationship or never in a relationship, she would have memories with him that she would love to think about later on in her life.
There was something fun and free about being with sirius. They got what they wanted and stayed friends in the end, laughing and joking during the time they were making out or playing around with one another. And even though she got quite jealous when other girls got close to him. She was happy and felt at ease with the connection they had.
"Oh so they abandoned you then? That's awful. Well I'm here to entertain you dear." she said and moved a bit closer wrapping her arms around his neck. "It has been some time since I last saw you...so we have some catching up to do don't we." She laughed.

""It has been some time since I last saw you...so we have some catching up to do don't we."
Sirius smirked as Mary moved closer to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. On instinct his own arms worked their way around her slim waist, pulling her body flush tight against his own, "You took the words right out of my mouth love." he said, his voice taking a husky hint to it. He liked this, how easy things where with her, there were no pressures, complications or expectations they could just be two young adults looking for a little bit of fun and it was always guaranteed when they were together that was for sure. They were too similar in that respect, all they wanted was fun, no pressures, they were both too young for all that.
His hands smoothed over the material of her clothing, coming to rest on her hips and gripping firmly as he ducked his head, his nose skimming along the curve of her neck. Sirius playfully nipped at the soft, pale skin there before lifting his head again, his lips hovering dangerously over her own, "And what do you suggest we do in order to catch up love...?" he asked her, already having a few R rated things in mind for them to be doing but it was always fun to indulge in a little teasing, proven by the fact he had yet to kiss her. No, he was leaving the next move up to her, she knew how he was.

Her smirk widened as his strong arms encircled her waist and tugged her tight against his warm body. She could feel his muscles through his shirt and a small shiver ran up her spine. His heart beat a little off sync from hers but it was nice to feel one up against her again. She closed her eyes for a moment as she just took in this feeling of having someone who wanted her, who was touching her, holding her, it helped chase away the demons.
His hands slid against the material of her shirt and down, gripping her hips with gentle force. She took in his scent as his nose grazed over her neck, she leaned her head back a bit to give him more room to nip and tease. Her head moved back up and suddenly his lips were dangerously close to hers, and she was breathless. She grinned mischievously knowing he was waiting for her to make the next move. This part was always fun..
"Well aren't we Mr. Romantic tonight." She teased, her warm breath skating over his lips. She made to kiss him but turned her head moving to nibble on his jaw, wrapping one leg around his waist. She wouldn't give in to that kiss so easily. She wanted him to NEED it. Practically beg for it, and with Sirius Black it was a challenge to get him to beg for anything.
But she'd accomplished it several times before in similar situations, it just took work. "You know me Sirius, I'm always up for fun, especially if there is a challenge involved."
