Birthday Splash (Remus)

Ferret smiled as she sat against a tree beside a small hotspring she and Jasper had discovered a few weeks back, when they had gone exploring through the forest together. At the moment, Jasper was back in her room, in his little playhouse that had been enchanted to fit under her bed.

It was cold in March and the evening breeze did nothing to make that better. The steam from the hot spring made the water so tempting. But she stayed put.

Today was Remus's birthday. And, like the tease she was, she had avoided contact all day, other than the letters sent to him almost every hour. Hints and clues to his gift. The final one was a map and a set of directions.

The girl was dressed in a tank top and shorts, ones that could be ruined just in case she couldn't get the smell of hot springs off her. For a therapeutic option, did it have to smell like rotting eggs? Sulfur was not the nicest smelling thing but the mood had been set. There were no clouds in the sky and it was only a half moon. No Moony influence tonight.

Smiling more, Ferret waited for Remus to arrive.

Squeezing between tree trunks, stepping over fallen logs and ducking under curtains of vines and lichen, Remus wove his way through the dense and tangled thicket of foliage that made up the Forbidden Forest. Seeming to drift on the breeze like a ghost, Remus moved confidently and without fear; to the lycanthropic side of him that he was gradually coming to accept, the darkness and wildness of the forest's depths felt very much at home.

Taking a deep breath, Remus favoured the rich aroma of the forest's scent as he sorted through the different smells to confirm he was on the right path. The map that he'd been given was tucked up in his pocket in a crumpled ball; once he knew the rough direction he was headed Remus was able to use the knowledge of the place's geography he'd gained on his midnight runs under the full moon and his ability to track scents to stay on the right track.

And the scent he was tracking had become as familiar to him as his own; it was that of his suddenly elusive girlfriend, who had been nowhere he was to be found for the length of the entire day. Over the last while Remus had become used to Ferret's scent and touch, and not a day went by when they didn't spend time together in one way or another.

And now, on his birthday of all days, she'd suddenly become so elusive as to be completely impossible to locate, with the exception of a series of clues and hints that had been teasing him all day with anticipation as to what form his 'gift' would take when he finally caught her.

But Remus was drawn out of his thoughts as his nose twitched at the scent of sulphur in the air that grew ever stronger as he came closer to the hot spring where Ferret had marked for them to meet. Stepping through a thicket of trees and brambles, he spotted Ferret standing by the side of a dark pool, her skin pale under the light of the half moon.

A slow smile spreading across his face, Remus leaned against a tree. "Good evening, little Ferret. What are you doing out at night in the woods alone? Aren’t you afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?"

Ferret turned at the voice and smiled. His voice sent a shiver down her spine enough to make her body shake not from the cold. She looked through the curtain of her hair, playing with the ends and biting her lip gently.

"Terrified," she purred. "But in the best way possible." Smiling more, she pushed her hair back from her face and made her way over to Remus. Meeting him, she wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his cheek to his ear.

"I thought you and I might like some time alone for your birthday. And it is so pretty tonight so I thought hot spring!" She looked at him, smiling. "Hope I didn't tease you too much love." She gently ran her fingers through his hair. She had missed the feel of him against her. Being away from him for summer was going to be hell.

Leaning up, she kissed him gently. "Happy birthday Remus."

Remus swallowed, his throat drying slightly at the purr of Ferret's voice as she looked at him under the curtain of her fringe and bit down on her lip to tease him, deliberately he was sure. "Terrified, you say? Well, we'll see if I can't make you shiver with something else before the night is through."

As Ferret moved towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck, Remus let his hands slide down her body until they encircled her hips and pulled his girlfriend flush against him, relishing the feeling of her body back in his arms.

"I think that sounds like the best present I've ever received." Reaching out for Ferret's chin, Remus pulled her into a gentle kiss before teasingly nipping at her lip. "I'll be happy to show you just how much you've teased me today." As she ran her fingers through his hair, Remus growled happily deep in his throat and nuzzled into her hand.

Kissing her back, Remus held Ferret close and breathed in her scent, a wide smile spreading across his face. "Thank you very kindly, dearest heart."

Ferret smiled and blushed at his words. She was never tired of this man. She gently kissed his neck, closing her eyes gently.

"Now, the real question. Do we want to do this hot spring with clothes on, or without. I am not going to have my swimsuit smell like rotten eggs, thanks." She winked then kissed his nose.

"I also brought some stuff from the kitchen so we can munch and drink while we soak. And," she smiled widely. "I convinced Emric's guardian to send me some muggle champane. Thought it would be nice to try. And I have candles and..." She blushed as she realized she was babbling.

"We can do whatever you want Remus, its your birthday." She smiled lovingly at him.

Remus blushed furiously as Ferret mentioned swimming together naked, smiling shyly as she kissed his nose. "Well, we've already skinny-dipped together before - though in my defence you were drunk and I just wanted to ensure you didn't get into trouble." Lowering his eyes slightly, Remus swallowed and tentatively asked, "So - without clothes, I guess?"

As Ferret babbled away about all the things she brought, Remus felt a warm glow of love for her growing in his heart as every word only revealed how much time and thought she'd put into his birthday. "It all sounds perfect." Remus gave her a gentle kiss. "You're perfect. And as long as I'm with you, then my birthday will be perfect in every way."

Snuggling in close to her, Remus nuzzled into Ferret's neck and tightened his arms around her, just happy for the moment to enjoy the feeling of having her in his arms.

Ferret blushed and giggled softly at Remus's awkwardness to them being naked together. As he said, they had gone skinny dipping before, and they knew each other's bodies in a very intimate way, but to see him blush and stumble over his words was adorable and she felt her heart swell.

She smiled as her boyfriend kissed her, Ferret closed her eyes and leaned into him. "I'm not perfect," she whispered. "But I am striving to make your birthday perfect in every way."

The girl smiled and leaned into her boyfriend's embrace. Taking a deep breath, she took in his scent. She giggled softly as he nuzzled her neck before gently pulling away.

"Alright. You strip down, and I'll set everything up," she said happily, moving over to the basket by the tree. Kneeling down , she began to rifle through it, humming lightly.

As Ferret pulled out of his embrace, Remus held back a sad whine - after an entire day spent without touching or smelling her it was hard to give that kind of contact up. But he knew that there would be time for cuddling tomorrow and every day after that, and so he stepped over towards the pool as Ferret had commanded, wrinkling his nose slightly at the sulphurous fumes.

"I knew you just wanted me for my body." Remus joked, pulling his blazer off and over his head before unbuttoning his shirt. "You've been using me for my physical charms all along." Pulling off the rest of his clothes, Remus turned and winked at Ferret with a cheeky grin before stepping into the hot spring, letting out a sigh of satisfaction at the gentle warmth.

Turning to look at Ferret, Remus smiled happily. "So, what's next on the agenda?" He smirked. "Aside from you joining me, that is."

Ferret tried her best not to frown as he said she only wanted him for his body. She had hurt that as an insult long before they were together and insults since in the hate mail she was receiving from his fan club since. As he slid into the hot spring, the girl went to her knees, wrapping her arms tightly around his neck and shoulders, burying her face into his neck.

"I want you for much more than your body Remus," she whispered. "I want you because I love you, and because my life would be dull, and boring, and painful without you." She gently kissed his cheek before standing again.

Waving her wand, the candles around her lit, sending everything into a soft glow. Waving her wand again, a plate of fruit and melted chocolate moved towards the water and floating over the water. The next was the bucket of ice with the champagne and the glasses to again float over the water.

"I'm getting really good at levitating charms aren' I?" she said, giggling lightly. It was her turn to strip down, placing all of her things in a small pile before sliding into the water next to him, laying her head on his chest. She sighed happily, nuzzling his chest gently.

"Have I ever told you how safe I feel around you?" she asked, sighing happily.
