It seemed like any other day when he wasn't hanging out with his best friend Lily.He was in the common room reading a book for three hours now. No one seemed to have been bothering him at that time frame. Probably because there was too many other people around, talking about random stuff.
Like homework, going to hogsmeade or who they were gonna snog next. He always wondered why he was put in this house to begin with. Why couldn't he have been put in Lily's house? Sure he would have had to deal with James Potter but that would have been fine as long as he was closer to Lily.
It was around 10pm on a friday night such as tonight that things it seemed would turn bad. Sev noticed almost everyone had either gone off to bed or snuck off somewhere. There were only a few others left in the common room. Being wary as he closed his book, got up and walked towards the bathrooms. The book cradled under his left arm as he walked swiftly to the bathrooms.
Opening the door to the male bathroom he looked to make sure it was empty before entering fully. Walking over to a sink he placed his book down on the counter part before turning on cold water, splashing some on his face he didn't hear the door open nor the door locking.

Rabastan Lestrange Rabastan, for once, was back in the common room before curfew, and he wasn't about to start pushing things tonight - not when it wasn't his night for rounds, at least. He did have something in mind that he needed to do, though.
Entering the common room, Rabastan stayed out of sight, walking through the shadows. His eyes were on the boy who sat reading a book - his room mate for the past 5 years, and the 2 that would follow.
It had never been a secret over the years that Severus Snape would regularly consort with mud bloods, but now? Now it was just getting ridiculous, and Rabastan wasn't the only one who was feeling more than a little fed up with his choice of 'friends'.
As the clock struck 10, Severus closed his book, looked around, and headed for the bathrooms. Rabastan smirked. Perfect.
Following him in, it was clear the other 5th year hadn't even noticed that he was no longer alone. Rabastan clicked the lock silently into place and hovered, just out of the way, staying still, until Severus had just about finished splashing water. Without warning, Rabastan lunged forward and his hand came into contact with his room mates shoulder, pushing him swiftly against the wall with a bit of a thump. He was straight in his face and glaring from between narrowed eyes.
"I think, my 'friend', that you and I need to... talk." He put emphasis on the word friend making it sound mocking and insincere, and there was a certain level of threat on the 'talk' too.
Well, if this was what it would take...

The water in itself was to keep him awake long enough to finish his homework so when he was done splashing water and was about to turn off the tap a strong grip went onto his shoulder. He was then shoved into a wall with a loud thump causing him to wince slightly. Rabastan's face was straight up into his with narrowed glaring eyes. Listening to the words Rabastan said Severus glared right back, hand reaching to grab his wand.
It turned out though that when he was shoved into the wall his wand fell from his pocket and rolling away from them. Leaving him to lift his hand up to try and pry away Rabastan's Grip."Talk about what Rabastan?"He said with malice with a hint of fear. Truth be told he wasn't as strong as the other male in front of him. Plus he figured what Rabastan wanted to talk about was something he wouldn't like to talk about.
His free hand balled into a fist. If it came down to it he would no doubt punch Rabastan straight in the nose. It wouldn't break his nose but it would do some damage.

Rabastan Lestrange Rabastan was instantly aware that Severus was going in to grab his wand, and Rabastan did the same, pulling his from his pocket, the other hand still pressing Severus against the wall.
The other boy came up empty handed, his wand on the floor. Rabastan looked at him and smirked, kicking the wand even further away until in rolled under one of the stalls. "I think you know what, Snape." Rabastan reverted back to second name basis, even though, usually, they'd speak on first.
"Try anything..." He left the end of that threat open ended, but there was enough malice in his voice and in the intense look on his face to finish it off for him, without saying the words.
Rabastan took a firm grip on Snape's collar. "The mudblood. Enough."

Seeing the other boy take out his wand he mentally slapped himself. Now if there was a fight he'd be well unprotected. Watching his wand be kicked further away and rolled until it was under a stall his glare intensified."Since when have we started using last names Lestrange?"He said as he looked at the other. The threat made him scoff, rolling his eyes at the other boy.
"Or what?"He said as Rabastan took a firm grip on his shirt collar. He didn't like the next two words that came out of the other boys mouth. He had enough, bringing his fist up he punched Rabastan square in the nose twice."That mudblood has a name...and if I ever hear you calling Lily that again you will regret it"His words no longer holding fear but anger and dripping in malice.
No one and I mean no one called his best friend a mudblood no matter if they were his roommate, friend or otherwise. Lily was the only one who stood up for him. Where was his slytherin friends when Potter and his gang were pulling pranks on him?

Rabastan Lestrange "Since you started shaming the very name of Slytherin himself." If it was possible, Rabastan glared even more at Snape's scoff. His grip on both the boys collar, and on his wand, tightened.
He didn't answer the question out loud. The answering thread practically burnt the air around them. A fist connected with his face, and Rabastan growled and spat at Snape, jabbing his wand. His anger spurred a blast of red light out of the end of his want. It wasn't intentional magic, but rather the kind one couldn't control. It hisses loudly and sparked in Snape's face.
"That mudblood is nothing but useless filth!" He hissed back, swiping the back of his hand against his nose. There was a little blood, but nothing major to worry about right now. "And considering you're supposed to be working for the Dark Lord, you're making a f*cking fool out of the lot of us while you're screwing around with miss sunshine and daisies." Rabastan spat the words out, his wand still pointed sharply at the boy.
Sparks still flickered at the end of it. "If you have any sense, you'll never speak to her again." His voice was low and cold, no emotion in it at all, something that Rabastan had mastered a long time ago. "Once you're in with Him, you never get out." He said referring to the hold the Dark Lord had over all of his followers.
Rabastan licked his lips and tasted the salty tinge of blood, and his anger boiled back up at that Snape had done to him. He wasn't getting away with this. "After all these years I'd have thought you'd know better than to pull a trick like that one... Crucio!"
A jet of red shot straight out from the end of his wand, hitting Snape in the chest within seconds. Rabastan hadn't even given him a chance to help himself, or any warning of the spell. His anger had just boiled to the point where he'd snapped, and before he knew it, the other Slytherin was on the floor.

He didn't answer right away he just listened to the other abit. Anger flaring more and more. He didn't care if the sparks from the wand were licking his face nor did he care if it licked off a few pieces of skin. "Like I care if I am shaming his name"He said before adding."I told you never to call her that now you'll pay"He spat back.
A laugh escaped his throat at the others next words."The dark lord doesn't scare me...I don't care about you and the rest of the damn slytherins...You all make fools of yourselves day in and day out"He said as he glared daggers at the other."I guess I have no sense as you nor anyone else will stop me from speaking to her"His voice rising in anger.
It happened so fast though, the pain, the thud against the tiled floor as his head hit the floor along with his body. His body twitched in pain but he didn't scream not yet atleast. He knew from all those times potter hexed him to keep from screaming in pain or show much pain at all.

Rabastan Lestrange Rabastan spat at Snape again. "The only people who makes a fool out of us are muggle loving freaks like you." He spoke from between gritted teeth. "If you wont stop, we'll make sure it isn't a choice." With that, Rabastan cast the spell, anger fueling it.
He'd only ever cast this particular unforgivable once in his life, but the thrill and energy that came from casting it was unlike anything he'd ever felt before. There was an excitement to the pouncing flare of power that flooded your body when the curse took hold, and it felt like ever pore was revitalized - cured on the pain cause. To Rabastan, it felt as if each jerk of pain was drawn in by his wand and fed straight into him, it was almost as if he could feel it surrounding him… and it felt absolutely spectacular.
Eventually though, Rabastan pulled his wand back, effectively ending the spell, but only after he'd heard a real response of pain from the boy on the floor. Closing his eyes, Rabastan inhaled deeply and sighed. "I can taste your pain in the air, Snape. This whole room is alive with it."
Rabastan had never felt as alive as he did in that moment - never felt as powerful or as excited. He'd almost go as far as to say the feeling from that spell aroused him. On the floor, the effects of the spell still shook his roommate, and Rabastan stood there, watching the effects. The cruciatus spell was a vicious one that target nerve ending and made them thrum and clench with pain. The intensity of it made it nearly impossible for any one on the receiving end of it to control their limbs, even after the spell had ended - the body would twitch and convulse - helpless. More power to the caster. No wonder it was a spell so well loved by death eaters.
Looking down, Rabastan let out of cold, cruel laugh, shaking his head at the pathetic sight before him. "Consider that a taster." Turning Rabastan strutted towards the door and reached to undo the lock.
