Gwen had spent a stupid portion of time today outside sitting by the lake, staring into its darkened depth. How come, back in January, she'd been able to go out there in her skates and spend hours on the ice, and not have a care in the world? Now the lake was defrosted again and she was back to keeping her distance...
At some point, the night had swept in and forced Gwen back into the castle and out of the cold wind. The cold itself though, seemed to already have penetrated her to the bone. That was her own fault for not wearing a coat though...
The common room was empty when she first stumbled inside, which meant that she had the fire all to herself. Usually, she'd sit on the floor right in front of it to warm up but after sitting on the grass for ages, the idea of a comfortable chair seemed a much nicer prospect than the floor.
Footsteps... Gwenog wasn't alone anymore. Without turning to look and see who it was, Gwen spoke. "If you're 5th year or older, come and talk to me." She tugged a blanket towards her and covered her legs with it, then picked up a pillow to hold close to her, waiting for a response from whoever it was that had just walked into the room.

Millie was finally done with her homework and completely wiped. Leaning back on her bed, she stretched out her arms and rolled her shoulders, grimacing as she did so. It had taken hours to finish the necessary things that needed to be done due to her leaving it all to the last minute. That was unlike Millie but then again her mind was all over the place lately, both in good places and extremely bad ones that made her nauseous to think on too long.
Climbing off her bed she shot a smile to her other dorm mates, before her mind wandered to where Tay may be. Probably with Lachlan again, that made Millie smile. They were really a cute couple and Millie was so happy for her beautiful friend. If only things were that simple for her. Sighing sadly she walked out of the dorm, sick now, of staring at the same walls. It was getting late though, so she couldn't go out but going down to the common room was a welcome change of scenery.
Though as soon as she entered the common room she found herself smiling, being able to make out the familiar figure of Gwen sat in front of the fire. The girl who was never far from her mind, though one she hadn't really spent time with since the night they'd gone out to Hogsmeade. Smiling softly Millie took a few steps towards her though stopped almost instantly, a frown on her face, "If you're 5th year or older, come and talk to me." she immediately wondered what was wrong with the usually happy go lucky girl.
Unsure of what to do she stayed in the spot in which she'd stopped, and pushed her hands into the back of her jeans a little nervously, "Well I'm no fifth year but any chance you still want to talk to me?" she asked, a hint of hopefulness in her voice, hoping the blonde didn't turn her away, though she refused to move forward until Gwen confirmed she was okay with Millie being there.

Gwen pulled her knees up to her chest and tugged the blanket up higher. The voice behind her was one she immediately recognized and she turned to look. Millie…
"I'll rephrase - If you're fifth year or older, or called Millie Croft, come talk to me." Gwen couldn't help a smile for the beautiful fourth year. She'd hardly seen Millie since January, which really sucked. Their night out had been amazing though. They'd spend absolutely ages going through Gwen's wardrobe and trying on pretty much everything that Gwen had. Eventually, they'd settled on what to wear and headed out to the village. It was rather quiet for holiday weekend, but it picked up. There was a new crowd passing through which had certainly livened up the night. All in all, Gwen had more fun with Millie that what she'd had in a long time.
Scooting back on the sofa, Gwen waved Millie into the seat next to her and opened her arms. "Come hug me."

"I'll rephrase - If you're fifth year or older, or called Millie Croft, come talk to me."
Millie returned the smile that came her way, she often found it was all she did in Gwen's presence. Smile. They didn't spend as much time together as Millie would have liked over the last month, and she was unsure as to why, but she wasn't about to dwell on that now. Millie just vowed to herself to enjoy whatever time she got to spend, in this beautiful girls presence, no matter how short or scarce. She highly doubted their relationship would ever go past friendship, but that was what daydreams were for after all.
Brushing her hair back and away from her face she made her way over to where Gwen was sat, and easily leaned down to embrace the girl. It probably lingered on a little longer than was appropriate but it couldn't be helped, Millie seemed to find a sense of calm and peace in Gwen's presence. "Why you sat down here alone...your freezing..." she commented, pulling back as she moved to sit in the seat beside Gwen.

Millie came around and leaned in to give Gwen a hug which she happily returned. Before long though, Millie had moved away to sit down on the sofa. "Who said you could stop hugging me, missy?"
Gwen sighed and looked back towards the fire. "I've just come in, I've been outside." She looked back to Millie and forced a smile on her face, shuffling in her seat again and pulling the blanket up and towards Millie. "Seriously, get back here and hug me more."

“I just wanted to give you a little room.” Millie commented smiling at Gwen. Tilting her head to the side she watched the blonde look towards the fire, sensing something was wrong despite the smile on her face. “Is there something wrong Gwen?” she asked softly.
Rolling her eyes playfully she chuckled and moved back up to Gwen, getting beneath the blanket to hug her. A part of her was worried as to how this would look to someone coming into the common room but man was she comfortable now. “Better?” she asked looking at Gwen with a smile.

Gwen shook her head and gave Millie a lopsided smile. "I'm fine, doll. Don't worry about it." It was a stupid thing for her to be thinking about so much anyway since it was so far in the past, it was just something she found impossible to shake from her mind.
Thankfully, Millie wasted no time in crawling under the blanket with her and snuggling up with Gwen. Gwen made sure to wrap an arm around Millie's shoulder and pull her even closer. This was Gwen they were talking about, so she was known to be a little bit weird and crazy and random around here, so to see her sitting like this with a girl would seem totally normal to anyone who knew Gwen, and the majority of this house did these days.
"Much." She rested her head against Millie's and looked at her out of the corner of her eye. "What's that worried look for, gorgie-gal?"
