Dorcas pulled her hair up and then let it back down again. She'd lost all her hairbands. Well by lost it meant that some of her dorm mates had stolen them. It was something that happened often but in all fairness she'd taken hair ties from them too.
Rumaging around Dorcas looked for a hair tie before giving up and just letting her hair sit at her shoulders. It probably wasn't going to be a good idea but she had no other choice.
Skipping through her common room and heading down the stairs to the entrance hall Dorcas thought of all the things she'd love to buy in Hogsmeade when she was rich! Of course she had no idea how she was going to get rich but she could dream!
Checking out with Filch Dorcas headed down to the local village. There was only a light breeze through the air so her hair didn't fly around too wildly on her walk down to Hogsmeade. The sun was shinning, the daffodils were out and Dorcas couldn't wait to get into the Three Broomsticks and have a butterbeer. She'd arranged to meet Zazzy there and so she'd order a drink for her childhood friend too!
All though the sun was out and there was only a slight breeze, the weather still warranted a warm cloak, by the time Dorcas got down to the pub and ordered her drink and one for Zazzy she was ready to just relax and that was what she did. Most people were out and about shopping but Dorcas always thought it made sense to have a drink first, then shop then head back to the castle, the pub was quieter now than it would be later so why not take advantage of that?
Setting both drinks down on the table Dorcas looked across to the fire she was near by. The pub was always nice and warm, it was dry and beautiful place to be in autumn, winter and especially the wet spring Scotland was known to have. All she had to do now was wait on her dear friend.

Zara had woken up in a bad mood. She wasn't usually this grumpy in the morning (though she'd sleep till noon if she could), but waking up to a bunch of girls screaming and knocking into their trunks wasn't really how Zara liked to start her day. Merlin, her dorm mates really did know how to annoy the hell out of her even before she could get out of her bed.
"Will you guys just tone it down?" she asked them grumpily, pushing her comfortable covers away from her with her leg, before she heard one of her dorm mates screaming about a bee flying around the dorm. That was all it took Zara to join in the screaming.
About half an hour later, with the bee successfully finding the window and flying out and a quick shower, Zara was all ready to head to Hogsmeade. She was going to meet her close childhood friend, Dorcas. Or Dorcy, like Zara loved to call her teasingly. Waving a quick goodbye to her dorm mates, she quickly made her way to the entrance of Hogwarts and began to walk towards Hogsmeade.
It was a really beautiful day. The wind wasn't too harsh, and it didn't seem to be too hot. Zara breathed in the fresh air and smiled. It was going to be a great day.
Upon reaching Hogsmeade, she quickly made her way to Three Broomsticks, and cleverly snuck up behind Dorcas. "Dorcy!" she shouted (though not too loudly) behind her just to catch her off-guard, before quickly settling down opposite her with a giggle. She smiled at the butterbeer in front of her. "Thanks for getting one for me too!"

The first sip was always the greatest. The warmth of the butterbeer just spread all over your body, warming you literally from head to toe. There was nothing better than this right now, sitting inside on what Dorcas would consider a cold day, near to a fire, waiting on a friend while drinking a butterbeer. Dorcas had another mouthful and placed her glass back down on the table. The smooth sensation of the butterbeer was one to cherish.
Dorcas slid down a little in her chair, her bum hanging on the edge of the wooden seat and she closed her eyes dreamily. She could totally go to sleep right now. She'd had a late night staying up doing her essays, writing them up, double checking them and putting them away in her bag carefully and quietly so as not to disturb her dorm mates and she usually spent her weekend mornings sleeping in but she was determined to meet up with Zazzy, Dorcas wasn't the type to let a friend down or to let them slip away, she always tried her best to do everything for her friends.
Dorcas didn't notice Zazzy approaching until her friend made her jump. Dorcas' eyes shot open as she jumped to sit upright in her chair. She looked at her friend and laughed. "You cheeky devil. I should dare you to pour that butterbeer down your trousers." Dorcas smiled cheekily. "How are you Zazzy? Behaving I hope." Dorcas knew her friend wasn't a trouble maker but they weren't in the same house so for all Dorcas could have known Zazzy could have snapped like a twig and started pranking people left right and centre! Though Dorcas did recall from watching Zazzy in the past that she did have a bit of a temper when she was provoked, but who didn't? Dorcas knew Zazzy was pretty well grounded and she was a fun friend to be around. Dorcas wouldn't change her for the world!

Zara's giggles merely intensified upon hearing her friend's reply and watching her shocked face. "You can dare me, and I would do it. Just that my unsteady hands might just cause the butterbeer to tilt towards you so that the drink goes down your trousers," she smirked.
"'Course I'm behaving! Have you ever really seen me trying to get in trouble on purpose?" she asked as she made a face. She preferred to stay away from the whole getting into trouble, mainly because she didn't want to disappoint her father, and she honestly didn't want detentions. Though she can be quite the dare-devil when provoked. Zara just loses her mind when angered.
"How are you?" she asked her friend, sipping her butterbeer. Ah, she could drink this for the rest of her life and never get tired of the taste. It was one of her most favourite drinks, among other drinks, be it wizarding of muggle. "Have you been studying your butts off as usual?" she guessed. Her friend wasn't in Ravenclaw for nothing. Often, Zara had found herself wishing she was in Ravenclaw, or Dorcas was in Gryffindor. It'd be nice, to have someone you've known almost all your life, be with in the same house as you too. But hey, she wasn't complaining about this arrangement.

Dorcas gasped "You would not succeed for with a simple wave of my wand I would avert the flow of butterbeer from my pants to your head!" Dorcas said enthusiastically as she picked up her warming drink and took a mouthful. The buttery, warm goodness was a beautiful sensation as she contemplated Zazzy's questions.
"I'm fine, been studying a bit more than usual this year, I really want to get good grades, I want O's in everything preferably but especially my core subjects and I'll do anything for good grades. Well almost anything, if you ever catch me in the library studying, make sure you put me out of my misery and shoot me or something! It's so stiff and dull in there, I've been sneaking out onto the grounds and studying at the quidditch pitch." She confided in her friend. Dorcas trusted Zazzy completely and knew she wouldn't turn her in. "It's so much better studying in the fresh air." Dorcas concluded.
"How 'bout you? Been studying?" Dorcas wondered how Zazzy was getting on with her Transfiguration classes and assignments. She knew her friend wasn't the best at it and thought it might be an idea to offer to help her out from time to time with studying the subject though if she was doing well on her own, Dorcas wasn't going to need to offer any help.

Zara could only laugh when she heard Dorcas talking about her grades and how much she wanted her Os. "Dorcas, of course you'd want all the Os. And you'd get it for sure. You've got the brains, dear girl," Zara said, nodding her head. "Just don't overwork yourself. You know how bad things can get," Zara warned her gently. She was glad that her friend was working hard, but Zara didn't want it to be detrimental for her.
"Yep, been studying," Zara sighed with a nod. "Studying helps for all of my other subjects, except for Transfiguration," she complained, rolling her eyes. "My marks seem to be improving, though. Professor McGonagall said so herself the other day," she shared with her friend, grinning in accomplishment.
"And do call me along when you go to study. I can use a study partner, especially someone with brains as you," Zara chuckled.

Dorcas didn't like to study around people, not just that she hated doing homework around other people too, she just felt uncomfortable around others when king work, she preferred to have fun with her friends, not study. Studying was a quiet, private thing, friends were for fun!
"I promise I won't overwork myself." She said to Zazzy, promising her friend that she wouldn't work herself to death. Dorcas had a habit of occasionally working too hard when it came to exam time, but this year she was sticking to her sort of schedule, it wasn't really a written thing she had next to her bed that she stuck to religiously, more something she had in her head. She didn't want to worry too much about studying her arse off this year, sure she had to pass everything she wanted and had to pass for next year, but she also wanted to try and get into a couple of advance placements.
"I can help you out with Transfiguration and any other subjects you might be in need of assistance m'lady!" Dorcas grinned. She'd never really helped anyone study before, she'd always kept to herself around about this time of the school year. Still, she'd help out her darling Zazzy!
"I thought I'd let you be the first to know, I'm probably going to be dropping one of my subjects next year because I'm going to try out for the quidditch team!" Dorcas grinned at Zazzy. "Gwenny's talked me into it!" Dorcas sighed. "But I'm pretty sure I won't be able to juggle all my subjects, I think I might have to drop muggle studies, I mean I pretty much know heaps about them so you know, it's an easy subject, though maybe I should drop a harder subject, maybe Arithmancy. Maybe even Astrology ... ugh, I don't know Zaz. Any advice or recommendations?" She asked. She always liked to talk things through with Zazzy, it helped her make decisions.
