Gwenog had found herself drifting up the stairs towards the Muggle studies classroom once dinner had ended. She knew that she had other work that she should be doing but she really wasn't in the mood for it right now. She didn't know what she was going to do when she got there, but she was sure she could find someone who would be hanging around. Maybe Katherine would be there to chat?
When she first got there she couldn't see anyone anywhere, and she wandered in with a sigh. Slumping down in a seat, Gwen let her mind drift. She still couldn't stop thinking about Millie and that night they'd gone out to Hogsmeade.. she hadn't really seen the beautiful girl since then...
A sound behind her pulled her from her thoughts and she turned to see who had just come in. "Hey!" She sent the person a smile. Maybe she could find a decent conversation around here after all.

Dorcas hadn't done much much of her homework. She had a few bits started but she'd not even written down a couple of her essays that were due for next week. One of those essay titles that she'd missed was Muggle Studies so she headed down from the Ravenclaw common room to the Muggle Studies classroom. She hadn't spotted anyone on her way through the common room that would be able to help her out with her quest so she had no choice but to continue on and ask her Professor, Dorcas just hoped she didn't get yelled at and told to pay more attention in future. She was pretty sure Professor Dupree wasn't like that but you could never tell sometimes. Knocking the door and pushing it open Dorcas was greeted with a familiar face. A grin spread across her lips and she waved a little at her dorm mate. "Hey yourself Gwenny. What you doing here? Is the Professor around at all?" Dorcas asked without even thinking that Gwen could give her the answer she was seeking, heck maybe she could even give her a few pointers though Dorcas wasn't too bad at muggle studies, she'd gone to a muggle primary school for a few years before she started Hogwarts so she'd gotten a taste for it and enjoyed it a lot, being allowed to study muggles further at Hogwarts was almost like a blessing for the dark haired Ravenclaw.

It was the knock at the door that caught Gwen's attention and she turned to see who it was. She recognized the face of her room mate instantly. "Dorcie-dorc!" She said in a sing song voice, hopping out of her seat and dancing her way over in typical crazy Gwen style. She pulled her friend into a hug, before leaning back to speak to her, arms still around her neck. Gwen and personal space didn't go in the same sentence. "Nuh-uh. No Katherine. Not that I've seen."
She bumped noses with Dorcas with a grin before releasing her grip on her and jumping to sit on the nearest desk. "Why? No... wait... you haven't done the homework yet. Right?" After been roommates for almost 5 years Gwen knew Dorcas pretty well, and knew that if there was ever a subject she forgot, it was Muggle Studies.
Gwen sent another grin in Dorcas's direction before putting her hands on the desk behind her and leaning back. Muggle Studies was her all time favorite lesson. She didn't care about the others, which, for a Ravenclaw, was seen as slightly unusual, but when had Gwen ever been normal?

Dorcas hugged her friend back. Gwen was brilliant. At least in Dorcas' opinion she was, she could always lift someones mood. Like Dorcas for example. She hadn't been upset, she'd been on the happier side of things but seeing Gwen and really just being in her presence brought Dorcas soaring up even higher! Gwen just had such positive effect on everyone she meet, maybe excluding a few pure bloods that thought they were better than everyone else.
Dorcas smiled a little guiltily. "Yeah, I didn't write down the essay title, do you remember what it was?" It had just clicked in Dorcas' mind that Gewn was in her class and had a chance of remembering what the essay subject had been. Dorcas really did have to pay more attention in lessons but as of late she'd been drifting away from concentrating on her subjects and yet she didn't know why, she still aimed at getting good grades but she just wasn't putting in as much effort into the actual lessons themselves, she always caught herself thinking about quidditch. Gwen was on the house team. Perhaps Dorcas could put her hand up to be a reserve. Nah, she'd just try out next year, hopefully Gwen would be captain then so she'd fell a little more comfortable performing in front of her house mates for the first time, after all you were being nothing but judged when you tried out for quidditch, Dorcas knew because she went every year to watch the hopefuls, she'd never tried out but she'd always been there, watching, waiting to see who she had to beat when she did eventually try out.

"'Electricity: The uses and limitations.' She wanted a full page on it."
Gwen hadn't even made it out of the classroom last lesson before a dozen ideas were already racing through her mind. In fact, she'd almost been considering giving Quidditch practice a miss just so that she could do her essay, which wasn't very 'Gwenish' at all. "How come you've left it so late? You shouldn't asked me for it earlier."
Dorcas seemed a little lost in thought and Gwen tipped her head to one side, watching her. "Penny for your thoughts." She said, using the old muggle phrase she'd been told about.
((sorry it's so short and crappy D: ))

Dorcas took a deep breath. "Ah! Of course! Ohh that's going to be a fun subject!" Dorcas had gone to a muggle primary school and knew a little about electricity all ready, probably not as much about it as muggle born students but she'd still know a little, she even knew how to change the fuse in a plug. Electricity was a subject that fascinated her but not enough to explore it outside of lessons, she had plenty of other things on her mind that kept her preoccupied like homework, friends, jogging and day dreaming.
Dorcas felt a tapping on her head and she shrugged her shoulders with a smile at Gewn. "I dunno, just thinking about Quidditch is all. I think I might try out for the team next year." Dorcas shrugged her shoulders. "Is it as good as everyone makes it out to be?" Dorcas wondered if being on the quidditch team was just all hype, it probably wasn't, it was probably amazing and brilliant and everything everyone dreamed it would be, still Dorcas could just make sure with her roommate, she had an inside perspective.
((Nah, short and crappy is good! Keeps things simple and more realistic!))

"I dunno, just thinking about Quidditch is all. I think I might try out for the team next year."
Gwen let out a squeal and clapped excitedly. "Do it, chicka! We need some awsie new players." Gwen tended up make up random nicknames and crazily abbreviate words as she went along. Those who'd been around her a lot weren't really phased by it anymore, but she knew when around people who didn't know her all too well she could seem completely crazy, not that Gwen cared.
"It's better, sometimes, it's worse others." She grinned. Gwen loved playing quidditch. Quidditch, Muggle Studies, and partying - they were her loves these days. "The matches themselves are amazeee - the atmosphere and everything, but sometimes the practices can be a bit grueling, and trying to find time to get in practice, homework, lessons, and fun?" Of course, Gwen's idea of fun wasn't the usual 'sit and read a book' like most people, so that was kind of her own fault.
"You should deffo try for the team though, Dorky! We'll party through this year together." She stuck her tongue out in her friends direction then grinned.

Dorcas enjoyed Gwen's abbreviations. It was all a part of who she was. Quirky and with no time to spare, especially not or long words besides, her abbreviations were adorable and so were the names she came up with for her friends and acquaintances. Not just 'sweetie' or 'honey' but things like 'chicka'. It was refreshing, Dorcas somewhat wished she were a little more fun like Gwen. "Ha, you have me convinced Gwen, next year I'll be trying out for and joining the Ravenclaw team!" Dorcas puffed her chest out pompously and placed her hands on her hips. "I shall lead our team to victory. Today we might be the underdogs, beaten by the other houses but mark my words, with me on our team I shall lead us to victory!" Dorcas' arm soared from her hip through the air to point her finger at nothing in particular as Dorcas looked off in a different direction, head held high before she dropped her hand and snorted. "Seriously though, I think I'll have fun. I need fun, fun is very much needed for Dorcas." Dorcas nodded her head and sat herself down at a table and sighed. "Gweeeeeeeeeeeeen?" Dorcas looked up at her room mate. "Sometimes I notice you're a little bit ... late, retuning to the common room. What do you get up to? Like, do you actually, y'know, leave the castle or do you find ways to have fun in the castle?" Dorcas was wondering if there was a secret group of students that met up nd partied. If so she wanted to be one of those students! "Is it possible to actually get out?" Dorcas was really curious, what she really wanted to do was have a night out. She fancied having some fun and felt as though she deserved to have some fun.

"Why next year? Seriously, Dork, at least come and tryout this year. You could get drafted in to cover or something." Gwen bounced down from her seat on the table till she stood just inches from Dorcas and grabbed her hands. "Next practice. You're coming to the pitch with me, got it, Chicka?" She grinned. Having a room mate on the team would be a ton of fun for Gwen.
"Gwen thinks Dorcas with have very much fun and shouldn't wait till next year for it." Gwenog sometimes talked in third person like Dorcas just did, but it usually resulted in a lot of strange looks from people, but with Dorcas? It was kinda just a natural piece of weirdness sometimes. She could remember a few times when they'd talked in third person like that down a corridor and groups of younger students who didn't know who they were thought they were gossiping about someone. They led to some of the weirdest rumors around that school...
"Gweeeeeeeeeeeeen?"
"Doooooooorrkkkk." Gwen wrapped her arms around her friends shoulders and looked up at her as she spoke. It was just a typical Gwen thing - lack of person space. "Hmmm... occasionally. Sometimes we party in, sometimes out - depends of the group." Gwen was a little bit of a party-o-holic, and it wasn't good for her grades, but seeing as Muggle Studies seemed to be the only thing she cared about that didn't really bother her that she slacked on the rest. She had a strange learning attitude for a Ravenclaw... She often wondered how she made in into that house in the first place.
"Oh it's absolutely possible to get out... Why?" She grinned slowly and leaned closer to Dorcas till their noses bumped. "Is Dorcas considering joining the wild side of life?" Ooh what fun... Gwen had already managed to make a bit of a party animal out of Millie, so maybe she could make one out of Dorcas too... "Friday night... busy?"

Dorcas laughed. Gwen was a good friend. Dorcas was somewhat surprised the girl wasn't a Gryffindor. She was so loyal to her friends and would do anything for them to lift up their spirits and she was sometimes a little pushy like the Gryffindor's but pushy in a good, supportive way.
"Okay! Next practice, Dorcas'll be there and Dorcas'll have a great time and Dorcas'll be drafted as backup because she's so bloody brilliant!" Dorcas would actually enjoy that. She went along occasionally when she was out for a jog but only stayed for ten minutes or so before jogging on her path again. She enjoyed watching but never wanted to impose, she always preferred to be surprised at Quidditch games with the moves the team had been practicing, watching the practice ruined the surprises, but if she was being dragged along by Gwen then she might as well get practicing herself, while there was no one else around, she didn't want to make a fool out of herself in front of everyone else. But what position would she apply for? She liked playing the Beater because she could get out so many of her frustrations hitting the bludger about and especially towards a few of the Slytherin players, Scar being in the forefront of Dorcas' mind.
Dorcas just smirked and didn't budge as Gwen leaned in and wrapped her arm about Dorcas' shoulders. Before Dorcas knew it she was nose to nose with her dear friend. "Wild side of life?" Dorcas wondered just how wild things got. "I think I would, I want more fun! Maybe have an alcoholic drink." An alcoholic drink was a big thing to Dorcas. She hadn't had one. Ever. So Friday night? "Sounds good! What do you think we should do? Dorcas got butterflies in her stomach. What if she got caught? What if she got drunk and did something stupid? Well that was the risk she'd have to take and she was actually looking forward to it.

"That's the spirit!" Gwen was practically giddy with excitement over the next quidditch practice now. She couldn't wait! She really hoped Dorcas could get a part on the team in some way or another, even if it was just as a cover. She knew that some of the seventh years were talking about dropping practice so they could concentrate on their NEWTs, which Gwen just thought was utterly bizarre.
"Babe, a night out means a whole lot more than one alcoholic drink." She winked and grinned. Ooh this could be really interesting. What would a drunken Dorcas be like? Hopefully, she'd be the bubbly, hyper kind of drunk like Gwen was, not a teary, angry one like some girls seemed to be. Gwen liked to have fun, and teary drunks weren't the definition of a good time. "Don't worry about the what, I have that all sorted out. We'll just raid through out wardrobes and find something that'll make the girls and guys alike wonder who the stunner is, and we'll go flaunt you about the party." Gwen grinned again.
She loved parties more than anything else, and parties with her friends there were even better still. Nothing could keep her away from them, she just liked to have someone there that she knew sometimes.

Dorcas got a little shot of nerves that ran through her stomach making her a little sick. More than one alcoholic drink? Dorcas wouldn't mind two but she had a feeling the Gwen meant a whole lot more than that but truthfully Dorcas hadn't drunk before so she wasn't sure exactly how much alcohol she could handle, plus she had no idea what she was like drunk, she hoped she wouldn't make a complete fool of herself, maybe funny? Purposely funny, not falling over and drooling funny.
Gwen was clearly a party animal and Dorcas couldn't wait to go out with her friend for the night. It would have to be a Friday night for sure, Dorcas had never had a hangover before and didn't know how long it would take to get over one, especially considering she'd never been drunk before. Dorcas just hoped she would remember the night, she was sure she would, she wouldn't get that drunk, would she?
"I'm sure we can put together a good outfit. I have this long blue skirt with frills mid way down and a fun little frill at the bottom too!" Dorcas was excited at the thought of dressing up for the night though her dressing up wasn't as revealing as was probably going to be necessary for a night out with Gwen.

"I'm sure we can put together a good outfit. I have this long blue skirt with frills mid way down and a fun little frill at the bottom too!"
Gwen grimaced and waved a hand to stop Dorcas. "Nuh uh uh. Nada." She gave Dorcas a look and then sighed. "Hunny... your clothes are lovely, they really are, but they're not party clothes."
She reached up to trail her fingers through her friend's long hair and a dozen ideas for hairstyles flashed through her mind. "You need a 'I'm here to party' look, Chicka, not a 'I'm here from Hogwarts' look. Make over time, babe. Trust me?"
Pretty much all of Gwen's wardrobe was made up of party clothes and very little else, so there were already dozens of things flashing through her mind that she wanted Dorcas to try on. There was one thing in particular she thought would look stunning on her friend...
"Friday. After lunch. The dorm. We're gunna get ready to party!" She realized what she was suggesting there, but it would be interesting to see whether Dorcas would be up for skipping a potions lesson or not for the sake of a fantastic night out. Besides, it was Slughorn - he didn't care.

Party clothes? Party clothes? What did that mean? She thought all clothes could be party clothes. She just needed to add the right accessories and a pair of heels with a nice jacket rather than a casual sort of jacket. That was all that was needed, right? Dorcas didn't know about dressing up to go out for a night. Sure she could dress for a ridiculous pure blood thing or a school dance, but a night out? Out?!
Dorcas took a deep breath and nodded. She trusted Gwen, what chance did she have really? She'd wanted a night out and gone to Gwen about it so she should have foreseen alcohol and what she assumed was going to be a rather skimpy outfit, something that did not make her look like a school student or else she wouldn't get served drinks, or even get in anywhere would she?
Dorcas wasn't sure if she could get any more worried but apparently she could. Skip a lesson? That was something Dorcas had never done. Sometimes she didn't exactly pay complete attention, but skipping class was a whole different league and something she was pretty fearful of. What if she got caught? What if she got detention and a letter home to her parents? Her father would be so disappointed. Dorcas was going to have to decline.
"Okay." Wait, what! She had agreed? Clearly her brain knew she needed a night out, she needed a drink even if it was alcoholic, she was going to have a fun night out with Gwen and get drunk!
"Friday after lunch in the dorm. I'll be there!" Dorcas grinned and stood up. "I've gotta get on and get started on my essay so I'll catch ya in the common room or dorm sometime. I'm looking forward to friday night!" Dorcas gave Gwen a goodbye hug and headed out of the door in search of a quiet, secluded spot in which to write up her essay.

Gwen squealed and jumped up and down a few times, grabbing Dorcas's hands excitedly when she agreed to the night out. "Call this a test run for the real party of the term." Gwen grinned. There was a party on this Friday night, but it was nothing compared to the party that was coming up at the end of April, so this would be a good chance to see just how much of a party diva Dorcas could be, and whether she'd be the kind of person who'd enjoy the kind of party that was planned for then.
Dorcas stood to leave and Gwen just grinned back, reaching over to return the hug, squeezing Dorcas tight. "I'll make sure you don't get into too much trouble on Friday." She winked. A party was a party, and if there was one thing Gwen was good at, it have having a party. "Enjoy essay writing, babe." She watched as her friend vanished out of the door and sighed. At least now she had something to be excited for, even if she was suddenly a bit lost for something to do right now...
So... Friday it was. This should be good.
