Ferret leaned against the walls, smiling and swaying to the music ever so slightly, her hands gently wrapped around a goblet of pumpkin juice. Though she was enjoying herself, she was eager to go and meet Remus. Whatever he was planning.
Humming to the music, she looked about for familiar faces. Which was difficult beneath the masks. But her's was pretty revealing, showing all of her face. It was a symbol showing she had nothing to hide. But because of this, she was one of the few that could easily be recognized.
She took a long breath, and she hoped someone she knew would approach her.

Ash was having more fun than was probably allowed for a guy pretending to be a girl and dancing with guys... Though Ash had to admit, he was getting quite a bit of attention tonight. What was with these guys? Couldn't they tell they were surrounded by 'real' girls? He wasn't complaining of course, he was having hellish amounts of fun, but it was just a little strange.
Ash's eye caught on someone standing against the wall and he stopped dancing, ignoring the complaints from the two guys on either side of him who were trying to get his attention again.
What was it about that figure that looked so familiar to him? He couldn't get a good look from where he was but he had the feeling that... Was that who he thought it was?
Without even looking back Ash wandered off in the direction of the figure. Again, the two guys complained but he just ignored them. He was dead set on figuring out who that was now, which shouldn't be too hard considering how little the mask hid, quite unlike his...
"Ferret?"

Ferret looked around when her name was called. The person who walked over to her seemed to be a woman. A bit of a flat woman, but a woman...she thought. But damn if she knew what it was. Might as well be nice. She had been to everyone else who came up to ask her stupid questions.
What happened to you?
How did you change shape?
Does it hurt?
Can you teach me?
Can you pretend to be so-and-so?
She has given them all a smile and told them all questions could be asked (not necessarily answered) on the 16th. For now, she wanted to relax before going off to meet her boyfriend.
The best way to stop rumors was to start new ones. The lesbian with a boyfriend? At Hogwarts, that seemed to be newsworthy. And if the rumors made her happy, why not spread it.
"Um...yes, I'm Ferret," she said cautiously. "Can I help you with something miss?"

Ash grinned when he saw the confusion on his friends face, but seeing as his mask covered his whole face that grin couldn’t be seen. Ferret seemed strangely cautious as she looked at him and that only increased the smugness of the look on his face. He was completely disguised tonight so she'd have no way of knowing who he was, and it was quite clear she didn't have a clue.
"Can I help you with something miss?"
Ash spluttered a laugh and moved closer to Ferret, stopping just in front of her, watching the weary look on her face. He knew that masks needed to stay on till midnight but he reached for his and loosened the clasp very slightly - just enough so that he could pull it a fraction to the side and grin at her. "How 'bout a welcome back dance?"
He sent her a wink and pulled his mask back into place and retightened the clasp. Considering how much fun he'd been having before now, he wasn't about to risk anyone else seeing who he was and word getting out quite so soon.

Ferret blushed as the...woman...came closer to her. Were she single, she would have made a move in less time then you could light a firecracker. But now, she just felt like her personal bubble was being invaded.
But seeing the familiar face, she smiled, laughed and hugged her best friend.
"Really Ash? As wonderful as you look in this gown, don't you think your pushing it?" She smiled then. "You do pull it off a lot better then some other girl's here."
Smiling more, she curtsied. "I would love to dance with you, but being the butch of this dance pair, I shall lead. Agreed?"

Ash hugged Ferret back and laughed too. "You won't believe how much attention I've got tonight. I pull of female ridiculously well. I think I've decided on my future career. I'm going to be a drag queen." He stepped back and struck an over exaggerated pose before putting on the campest voice he could muster. "'Cause I'm glamorous!"
Ash nodded and curtsied, holding out a hand towards Ferret. "After you then. Let's see what my new fan club thinks of this." He grinned. "I can't wait to see their reactions at midnight." Already, he was grinning manically at the idea of it, knowing what he was expecting to see.
