Remus groaned, his skin feeling itchy and painful where the sheets brushed against his latest set of wounds as he tossed and turned, trying to get comfortable in his standard issue Hospital Wing bed. This month’s transformation had been particularly bad, and all the half-healed bites and scratches he’d managed to inflict on himself ached. For all that he healed ridiculously fast, his low tolerance for pain made the recovery process a nightmare to go through.
Grabbing the bottle of Pain Reducer that Madam Pomfrey had left on the bedside table, he took a small swig, experienced enough with the potion by now to calculate his own dosage. With a loud sigh Remus threw down his quill, pushing aside the History of Magic essay he’d been failing to work on for the last hour. It was his least favourite class at the best of times, let alone when he was sore and irritated and wishing that Madam Pomfrey would hurry up and let his friends visit him already (or that they would ignore her and use James’ cloak to sneak in).
Closing his eyes and leaning back into the pillow, he took several deep and calming breaths and tried to seek sleep. He’d only just started to drift off, however, when his attention was caught by a noise over by the door as someone entered the room. Opening his eyes, Remus turned over to stare at whoever had entered the Hospital Wing, hoping it was someone vaguely interesting who could distract him from the boredom of his recuperation.

"Ow...ow...ow..." Elisabetta muttered, holding her arm, which now had second degree burns all over it due to sticking her hand in the potion she'd been working on in class just a few minutes ago in order to retrieve her quill, which had fallen into the liquid. "Owww! Ow--" She stopped "ow-ing" long enough to see Remus Lupin lying in a hospital bed not too far from where she stood.
"Wow, Lupin, you look awful." she said, wincing in pain as her burns started to act up again. "What'd you do, have a battle with a Bludger? Ow! Bloody potion! I hate that class!" She looked at Remus again, closer this time. "Merlin's beard, it's a miracle you survived all of that...whatever it's from."
A shuffling noise sounded from behind her as Madame Pomfrey hurried over to see what had happened. Elisabetta unwrapped the towel that she'd put on it, revealing a huge, ugly burn covering her right hand and arm. Madame Pomfrey led her over to the hospital bed next to Remus's.
"Fancy meeting you here." Elisabetta spoke up again. "Er...but where are the others? I rarely see you without Potter, Black, and Pettigrew. I hope they don't mind my talking to you; Merlin knows this burn's bad enough without having to worry about being hexed by any of them...ow!" she exclaimed, as Madame Pomfrey poured a healing liquid over the burn, after which she gave Elisabetta another bottle of Pain Reducer. Elisabetta took a swig, grimaced, then set it on the table beside her bed.

"No need to spare my feelings," Remus joked with a weak smile. "If I look half as bad as I feel I can only imagine I look an awful fright. But no, it wasn't a Bludger. It involved failing to dodge a Cutting charm in DaDA. Somewhere between several to a dozen times."
Looking over, Remus racked his brain for the identity of his conversational partner. Female Slytherin - Elizabeth? No, something similar but slightly more foreign. Elisabetta - that was it! As the Slytherin unwrapped her arm to show Madam Pomfrey, Remus let out a low whistle of amazement. "That is one almighty burn you've got there! Potions experiment gone badly wrong? It looks somewhat like what happened to Peter the last time he screwed up a brewing." What Remus left unsaid, of course, was that said incident had only happened last week.
"Ah yes, the Hospital Wing. It's where I do most of my socializing, actually - accident prone as I am. And the others?" Remus pulled a sour face. "They're either off raising hell or getting drunk and/or into trouble. I'm not sure which of those scenarios is more likely." He gave a mischievous grin. "Sirius might mind, overgrown prat that he is, but then he doesn't have to know, does he?"
{ooc - sorry for the delay! I've been not-so-good at keeping track of posts lately with getting my new job sorted out and admin-type things}

James quickly scribbled down the last few lines of his history of magic essay that they all had due in on Monday morning, and the stood up, stretching his back, wincing as it clicked and popped. That was a sure sign that he’d been sitting in one position far waaay too long. He wanted to go down to the Hospital wing and see how Remus was doing after the full moon last night, but Madam Pomfrey had became increasingly strict about their visiting hours over the years and James was pretty sure that there was still another half an hour before she’d let him in.
Yawning, James headed out of the door anyway. A slow walk down to the hospital wing would kill some of the time, and maybe Madam Pomfrey would be nice enough to let him in early. By the same length, maybe she wouldn’t, but it was worth a shot anyway.
From inside, James could make out voices of people talking. One was definitely Remus talking whereas the other? He wasn’t quite as familiar with that voice. It had a stuck up, snotty kind of tone to it – one that James had long since come to associate with Slytherins and he grimaced. That was the last thing that Remus needed so soon after a transformation.
Pressing his ear close to the crack where the door was still slightly ajar, James listened closely to see what the Slytherin was saying to him. His own name was mentioned in the same line as something about hexing someone, and James grinned at that. It seemed that the Slytherins were finally getting to grips with the fact that they Marauders meant business when they said they would hex anyone who messed with one of their friends.
The question was followed by Remus telling the girl that James, Sirius and Peter were probably out getting in trouble somewhere and James only grinned, pushing the door open and stepping inside. ”Getting drunk on a school night? Whatever do you think we are Moony, old pal?” He grinned and flopped down onto the bottom of Remus’s bed, careful not to sit on him or anything. He looked to be in a pretty bad way but he couldn’t say anything about the transformation with the other student sitting there.
He ignored Madam Pomfrey’s annoyed look and looked to the next bed. He’d guessed right about the Slytherin. Elisabetta. How could he not recognize her. The girl had a reputation to rival many with her attitude and harsh tongue. She fit the description of a typical Slytherin, that was for sure. James’s eyes dropped to the burn on the girls arm. ”The result of carelessness, or did you just seriously piss someone off today?”
