Risa Connors: Risa knew that there was more to this story that what met the eye. Something had gone on in Chase's room and she wanted to know what, and even her dad hurrying her back down the stairs and out of the way wasn't going to stop her from finding out.
At the first chance she got, Risa slipped back out of the room and tiptoed up the stairs, reaching the landing just in time to see Chase heading in her direction. She didn't say anything too him, but it was obvious by the look on his face that something was really bothering him.
Risa's attention was caught on a room further down the hall. Someone had just disappeared into the bathroom. A blond someone with long hair, and it wasn't her and it wasn't her mother, so it was definitely someone else. Someone Chase knew, no doubt.
Despite her parents always trying to keep her in the dark about everything, Risa knew enough to know that Chase spent a lot of time with girls, and not just in the friendly sense. Was that a 'friend' of her brothers who just went into the bathroom? So had no doubts about it. Girlfriend? ...Did her brother even do girlfriends?
Waiting till Chase was down the stairs, Risa tippy-tapped along to the bathroom, standing quietly outside of the door and listening. Reaching for the handle she was surprised to see that the door opened easily. Whoever she was she hadn't locked the door behind her. The first thing she saw when she peered into the room was the blond girl, upset about something. It didn't take long until she was noticed either.
Risa half waved and sent the girl a smile. "Are you a friend of Chase?"

Emily covered her face with her hands and shook her head as she all but sunk against the bathroom door. She was mortified at how this had happened, why hadn't she paid closer attention to that noise she'd thought she'd heard...no she'd been too wrapped up in Chase and his...surprise...though she would admit, it made her smile, he truly was a one of a kind. Even now she found herself smiling about what he'd done, it had been a sight to remember that was sure.
Sighing softly she pushed away from the door and headed across the spacious room to the sink and mirror, still unable to get over how big Chase's house was, it was probably three times the size of her own. Leaning against the sink she looked in the mirror and blew out a breath, thankful the redness in her cheeks had died down a little bit more. Shaking her head she turned on the cold water tap, and rinsed her face hoping it'd calm down her nerves some more. She dreaded the moment she had to head downstairs, maybe it was best she leave, go back to Hogwart's.
"Oh Emily..." she sighed, shaking her head again as she turned off the tap and reached for the hand towel, dabbing the wetness off her face. As she lowered the towel though she heard the door open and gasped lightly, turning to see a young blonde girl peering in through the door she hadn't realized she had left open. The girl must have been at least 10 or 11, and Emily immediately realized this girl was Chase's sister and she smiled softly, turning to face the girl resting her hip against the marble sink, returning the little wave.
"I guess you could say I'm a friend..." she said with a small smile, hanging the towel up she looked back at the girl, who looked so much like Chase it was unbelievable, she was adorable. "And if I'm right your Risa...Chase never told me how pretty you are..." she said with a smile, brushing her hair back away from her face.

Risa Connors: The girl noticed Risa and she sent her a wave in return. Risa smiled back and slipped inside the room, pushing the door closed behind her, watching the girl. She was pretty... no wonder Chase liked her so much. "So... more than a friend then?" What had just happened in Chase's room? She wanted to ask but she got the feeling that she still wouldn't get an answer.
"And if I'm right your Risa...Chase never told me how pretty you are..."
Risa positively glowed. She liked this girl already!
Grinning, she skipped over to where the girl was and gave her a hug, regardless of whether the other was expecting it or not. "For that, you're officially awesome." Risa grinned. Considering who her dad was and all the attention he got, and the fact that her mother was stunning and didn't look her age, Risa found it hard not to want to stand out just as much as they did... If only that hadn't come with voices in her head and a fear to look closely in the mirror... But that was in the past, and she had to hope it would stay there.
"How long have you been here? Are you staying for Christmas?"

"Well...I do care a lot about your brother...so I guess you could say we're dating..." Emily replied with a small shrug, her hands clasped in front of her, as the young girl slipped into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. Somehow the term 'dating' didn't seem to fit what her and Chase where but it would do for now. "So yes, more than friends..." she said smiling softly at the young girl.
Risa seemed to brighten up when Emily called her pretty and it in turn made the older girls smile widen somewhat, her own issues momentarily forgotten. What she hadn't counted on though was Risa skipping across the room to where she stood and giving her a hug, her smaller arms wrapping around Emily's waist. "For that, you're officially awesome." Risa said with a pretty grin, one Emily couldn't help but return, despite her incredible shock over the position she was now in.
She tentavily allowed her arms to rest around Risa, surprised the little girl was this comfortable with her already. It made her happy, though still she felt a little wary, she didn't want to leave the bathroom that was for sure. Looking down at Risa she smiled and nodded her head, before stopping again. Was she staying here for Christmas? She wasn't so sure anymore, maybe it was best she head back to the school where she was meant to be anyway. "Erm I've not been here long, Chase brought me about an hour ago...I can honestly say I'm not sure if I'm staying. I may just be heading back to Hogwart's." she told the younger girl honestly, using her fingers to tuck a lock of the girls hair behind her ear.

Risa Connors: Risa smiled. "Chase and dating... I've heard those two words don't belong together. He must really care about you."
She skipped across the room and gave the older girl a hug. There was just something about her. She seemed so friendly and kind, it was easy to see why her brother liked her so much. But if that was the case, then why hadn't he mentioned her before now? The two of them had talked quite a bit the last few days but he'd made no mention of a girlfriend.
She was glad that the girl hugged her back. She knew she probably hadn't been expecting the surprise hug that she got, but she'd reacted rather well to it. Risa didn't pull back completely, just looked up at the older girl.
She watched as something flickered across her face but she didn't really know what it was.
"Erm I've not been here long, Chase brought me about an hour ago...I can honestly say I'm not sure if I'm staying. I may just be heading back to Hogwart's."
Risa frowned, bordering on a pout. "...Did something happen before? I wasn't going to ask but..." Her mum had seemed really shocked about something, and her dad had hurried her quickly down the stairs. Something had to have happened.
Fingers gently brushed her hair back behind her ear and Risa decided then that she really did like this girl. Was she a Hufflepuff like Chase? ... And why was she still thinking of her as 'the girl'?
"What's your name? Since you already know mine." She smiled up at her.

"...Did something happen before? I wasn't going to ask but..."
Emily looked down at Risa unable to answer the girls question at first, again a rush of humiliation coursed through her as she thought back onto what had happened. It wasn't like she could tell Risa what had happened, not really, she was still so young and it was too embarrassing to talk about it out loud anyhow. So she shook her head and smiled, slightly amused at the small pout on the younger girls face, "Your Mum and Dad weren't expecting me to be here, so it was a bit of surprise when they saw me with Chase. I just think it best I go back to the school, Christmas should be a time for just family anyhow." she said softly.
"What's your name? Since you already know mine."
Emily smiled, feeling bad for not having introduced herself as of yet when it was so obvious she knew who Risa was. "I know who you are because your brothers told me a lot about you...I'm Emily Prescott." she said smiling, not sure what to think. It was now obvious to her Chase's family had never heard of her, had he not mentioned anything about them to any of them?
"I'm in Gryffindor...you'll be heading to Hogwarts this year am I right?" she asked, unable to get over how pretty the young girl in front of her was. It must be genetic, from what she'd seen of her parents, they were obviously good looking to, you couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated.

Risa Connors: Risa say the girls face flush with color - at least there was a hint of it there. She looked embarrassed about something but, as she knew would happen, the older girl avoided the question as much as possible. Sure she answered, but Risa felt that there was a lot more to it than she was letting on. "What were you doing with Chase when they saw you? Mum looked shocked at something and Dad wouldn't tell me anything..." She frowned again. "They won't make you go, you know. Mum loves having loads of people here at Christmas. She usually invites a load of people over but it was just going to be us this year. She'll love having you here, especially if you're Chase's girlfriend."
Emily... Risa cocked her head to one side and looked at the girl. Chase and Emily... It had a ring to it. "How much has he said about me..?" There were some things that Risa could think about that she really hoped Chase hadn't talked about...
Risa nodded enthusiastically at the mention of Hogwarts. "Yup! I can't wait for September." She didn't know what house she'd be in but she couldn't wait to find out either. So long as she wasn't a Slytherin she'd be happy... or a Ravenclaw. She didn't think she'd fit in with all the brainiac people... Maybe a Hufflepuff like Chase... or a Gryffindor like Emily...

"Something we shouldn't...and it's upset your mum quite a bit...hence why I think it's a good idea I leave. I don't mind, I was supposed to be at Hogwart's for Christmas anyhow." she said with a small shrug and a smile. Not responding to the rest of what Risa said, somehow she doubted Chase's Mum would love having her here after what she'd walked in on, Emily wasn't even sure she'd feel comfortable hanging around anymore, even if the other woman did want her to.
"If I'm honest he hasn't spoken a lot, I just know who you are and that your going to be coming to school with us this year... I know he's looking forward to having you there." she said with a smile, one that only widened when the girl expressed her excitement at coming to the school. As a Muggle Born she hadn't know about the school before hand but had no doubt she would have been just as excited at the prospect of attending.
"Must be annoying though, knowing about the school but having to wait to go there..." she commented, brushing her hair back behind her ear as she looked down at the younger girl with a small smile, "I was lucky enough not to know about it till the time came to go..." she said, finding no shame that she was a Muggle Born. "So you wanting to be in Hufflepuff like Chase..?"

Risa Connors: Risa frowned up at Emily. Something they shouldn't? What did that mean? It couldn't be anything good though. Then again, Risa had met a few of the girls that Chase had knows over the years and they always had a... a bad sort of vibe. There was just something she didn't like about them... But Emily was really different. She seemed really nice and friendly and kind and... everything those other girls weren't.
I don't think you should go. I don't think mum will make you either. And Chase won't want you to..." She cocked her head to the other side and looked at Emily. "Why didn't you go home to your family this year?"
"Must be annoying though, knowing about the school but having to wait to go there... I was lucky enough not to know about it till the time came to go..."
Risa's brows pulled together as something seemed to niggle in the back of her mind about what Emily had just said, but she couldn't put her finger on it. Before she could think much about it though Emily was already asking her which house she wanted to be in. She shrugged. "I wouldn't mind, but mum was in Gryffindor like you are, so I wouldn't mind that either."
She thought again to what Emily had said. "What did you mean by that? About the school?"

[ Emily just smiled and didn't say anything to Risa, she was sure she was their Mum's least favorite person right now. The way she'd looked at Emily had said as much and made her feel so small. So instead of answering her about that she decided to reply to the other question, "My parents went away to France on a belated honeymoon...Christmas was the best time for them to go and besides I didn't mind spending some time in Hogwarts." she smiled softly.
"Ah so like me your Mum was in the best house in Hogwarts then..." she joked with a smile, she may be a little biased of course. Really she couldn't imagine being in any other house, Gryffindor was where she belonged, it was more than a house it was who you were. "Well if you end up in Gryffindor you've already got one friend." she said with a little wink and another smile, letting her fingers play with Risa's hair, her eyes flickering to the door briefly, dreading leaving.
"What did you mean by that? About the school?"
Emily smiled again and shook her head, "Oh it's nothing really. I'm a Muggle-Born, so I didn't find out about Hogwarts until Professor McGonagall brought me my acceptance letter and explained to my Mum and Dad what I was." she said, smiling fondly as she remembered the day as clearly as it had happened yesterday. The state of shock her parents had been in was hilarious to think about, "Up until then I didn't know magic existed...I'd obviously been able to do a few things that my friends couldn't because of magic growing up but I didn't really think it was anything important until that day." she said.

Risa Connors: Risa quite enjoyed the way that Emily was playing with her hair. Sometimes, her mother would sit and absently twiddle with it too, and Risa had grown to enjoy the feeling and even find some comfort in it. A smile split her face again when Emily suggested that they were friends already. That was a good like. Risa liked having friends, and she liked the idea of having someone like Emily as a friend too.
"Maybe I should be a Gryffindor like you and mum. Then all the girls can be in red and the boys can be in yellow... And red is a nicer color anyway." She grinned at Emily, reaching up and hand and touching Emily's hair. It had a light curl to it whereas Risa's was straight. "I want your hair," She smiled up at the older girl. She sometimes wondered what things would be like if she'd had an older sister, not just an older brother.
"Oh it's nothing really. I'm a Muggle-Born, so I didn't find out about Hogwarts until Professor McGonagall brought me my acceptance letter and explained to my Mum and Dad what I was. Up until then I didn't know magic existed...I'd obviously been able to do a few things that my friends couldn't because of magic growing up but I didn't really think it was anything important until that day."
"Oooh!" Risa didn't know any muggle borns. Or, not that she could think of. Maybe she did, but they were probably all adults who knew enough about magic now to hide it. She probably just didn't know many because she hadn't started school yet, but she was sure she'd meet a few when she did start. She was excited about that.
"Which one is McGonagall?" Chase had once told her who all of the Professors were but she couldn't remember them now. "And what magic could you do?" She asked excitedly. "Dad once said that muggle borns have a special thing they can do that they don't know is magic. He said he went to school with a boy who could light candles with his fingers before he found out he was a wizard."
Risa looked over to the door and back to Emily. "Do you know who the Wimbourne Wasps are?" She grabbed Emily's hand and tugged her towards the door. She had no doubt that Chase had told her just who their dad was, and she wondered whether Emily knew much about the professional Quidditch teams other than that. "I got a huge poster of them last week. Come look!"

"So your Dad was a Hufflepuff like Chase? And your right, red is a much better colour." she smiled, watching as Risa began to play with her hair, laughing softly she let her hands softly run over the younger girls silky smooth hair, "Well I happen to think your hair is beautiful...if you wanted I could show you a spell to curl it, it's very simple...but I think it looks lovely the way it is..." she said softly.
Risa's reaction to learning Emily was muggle born made the older girl laugh softly. It was much better than the usual reaction people gave someone like her, she usually received such a negative reaction. "McGonagall is the head of Gryffindor, she teaches transfiguration." she said, McGonagall also happened to be one of Emily's favorite teachers. Sure she was slightly strict but she was by far one of the best Professors at the school and Emily held a lot of respect for her.
"I couldn't like candles, mainly my emotions controlled my magic...I once got so scared after a nightmare I blew out all the power in our street...there were lights exploding everywhere..." she said with a slight grimace, "I also ended up falling out of a tree house once and luckily for me my magic kicked in and I floated down..." she said remembering how thankful she'd been her parents hadn't seen that, luckily for Emily they knew nothing of her abilities till the day McGonagall showed up.
"Do you know who the Wimbourne Wasps are?"
Emily smiled as Risa took her hand, tugging her back towards the door she'd been reluctant to leave. "Of course I know who they are..." she laughed, thinking it slightly random Risa was asking her such a thing. Emily wasn't that much a follower of Quidditch but decided to play along with the younger girl, anything to distract from what was happening with Chase and his parents. "Lets go see then..." she said kindly, pulling open the bathroom door, taking a bit of a calming breath, wondering where Chase was.

Risa Connors: Risa nodded excitedly. "Chase is a lot like dad." It was probably a good thing that Risa didn't know just how true that statement was.
Emily mention a spell that could curl her hair and Risa giggled excitedly. "When I go to Hogwarts that'll be the first spell I learn!" She knew that Chase still wasn't old enough to do magic outside of school, and she assumed that Emily was the same age as him, and so she couldn't do magic either.
"Is she nice?" It was no secret even to her that Chase didn't really care about school and learning all that much, so she didn't really want to believe some of the things he said about the different professors and stuff.
Risa listened intently as Emily spoke about her magic when she'd been little. "Power? What power? Like magic? I thought you said you didn't know you were magic..." She frowned and tried to understand. It was probably some kind of muggle thing... Risa didn't know that much about muggle stuff really...
"Of course I know who they are..."
Risa grinned and tugged Emily towards the door. She knew Chase would have told her about their dad being on the team. Everyone seemed to know. They all recognized the name Connors. At least that's what Chase had told her. He'd said that when he started school everyone knew who he was and asked about his dad and stuff.
Emily opened the bathroom door and Risa pulled her out quickly, skipping down the hallway and giggling, keeping a hold of Emily's hand. The poster in question was actually at the bottom of the stairs, but Risa didn't mention that, just pulled Emily along with her to the stairs and stated down. "It's just down here."

"McGonagall is nice yeah...so long as you don't get on her bad side...which I think your brothers been on a few times." she teased, laughing lightly. She'd witnessed McGonagall's wrath and was happy she was one of the few who stayed on her good side. "I'm sure you'll like her as well.." she added confidently.
At Risa's confusion she laughed softly and shook her head, "No muggles need power...electricity to make things work for them...it's hard to explain really without you seeing it...but suffice to say our street was in complete darkness for the entire night." she said, pulling a face, it had been a pretty horrible nightmare.
She followed Risa, laughing at how excited the little girl seemed to be. She was a little wary but Risa's mood was somewhat infectious, and she laughed softly again at the young girls little giggle. She had thought they were going to her room but Risa neared the stairs and Emily felt slightly nauseous and she tugged lightly on the little girls hand. "Oh I'm not sure if I should...hold on..." she said kindly to the little girl.
She let go of Risa's hand and back tracked across the landing to Chase's room, once inside she made a bee line for the bed, plucking up her bag and outdoor wear. Hanging them over her arm she let out a small sigh and hurried back to where Risa stood, taking hold of the little girls hand with her free one before taking a step towards the stairs. "Come on then show me this poster..." she said with a smile.
She didn't want to leave but she didn't want to be the one who ruined Christmas for this family and had no problems leaving to go back to school.

Risa Connors: Electricity... She'd heard that mentioned somewhere one but... she didn't understand it. It was weird to think that muggles could actually get by without magic. It must be so cool for muggle borns. They knew the best of both worlds. Why people were so against them she couldn't understand. "Candles?" Surely muggles had candles too...
Risa tugged Emily out of the bathroom with her and headed for the stairs. She really wanted to show her the poster just to see if Emily recognized any of the face on it - mainly, her dads. She didn't think she'd be able to. Risa had looked at it for ages until she'd finally worked out which one it was. The poster didn't make it very clear who was who, and it didn't help when the players kept zooming around all over the place.
Risa felt a tug on her hand and she stopped, turning to face Emily. Again, something flickered across her face and Risa had to wonder what it was that had happened. Something really bad must have happened... it was almost like Emily wanted to avoid Risa's parents or something... what had her parents seen that they didn't like?
She just nodded and let go of Emily's hand, watching as the older girl disappeared into Chase's bedroom. It wasn't long before she emerged again, a bag over her arm and a coat in her hand. Risa just frowned at her but she didn't say anything.
Emily took her hand again and started down the stairs, returning Risa's attention to the poster she wanted to show her.
At the bottom of the stairs, Risa peered into the living room and saw that her dad was standing and staring out of the window. He didn't notice her there and she made a motion to Emily to keep quiet, a grin across her face as she did, and she tip toed lightly past the room to another further down. The first thing she noticed was that the kitchen door was closed, and that was something that pretty much never happened.
The poster was in a small lounge that her mother had insisted on putting in quite a few years back. Although there was plenty of seating place in the living room where her dad was now, her mum always insisted that the room was more for visitors, and that they needed somewhere for family. Hence, the lounge. It wasn't as big as the living room was, and it looked even smaller with a Christmas tree in it, but there was enough room on the walls to fit the massive poster that Risa insisted go up there.
She pulled Emily into the room with her and pointed towards it. "Dad got it for me. It was in Quality Quidditch Supplies and they were selling signed ones because the team were in there! Mine was free." She grinned up at Emily. She knew that their dad played for the team so it would be obvious just how she got it for nothing, so she didn't feel the need to state the obvious. "What do you think? It's huge, right?"
