So... It was another one of those really boring days that sucked without any suggestions of it improving at all. It seemed like he was destined to be bored all day. He couldn't even look forward to meeting up with Emily seeing as she was busy tonight. And Trent was busy... And Lachie was busy... So where did that leave Chase?
Alone and on his way to the kitchens it would seem. He'd searched the common room and even asked one of the younger students to look in the 5th year girls dorm but, for once, not even Olivia was around for a laugh.
To say that Chase was sulking would probably sum it up nicely. With nothing better to do and no idea where any of his friends had vanished to, he headed out of the Hufflepuff common room. He'd first thought about just wandering around a bit to see if he bumped into anyone he knew but when he saw the kitchens he redirected his route. Might as well sulk with boredom with food at hand.
Inside the kitchens was the usual hustle and bustle of the house elves but there were no other students around. Well, that could be taken as a good thing... Right now Chase couldn't be bothered for a showdown with some lousy Slytherin or other. So, alone it was.
He asked the house elves to bring him something random of their choosing and headed across the room to the small sofa that dominated one corner of the room and flopped down with a sigh and stared at the ceiling until his food arrived. Pumpkin pie... how... original.
Chase tucked in with a muttered thanks and another sigh. This was looking to be a long evening...

 COULD WE DO IT ALL AGAINmake them laugh like we did then[/font][/center] To say that Lachlan had been absent was a bit of an understatement. What with all his time and attention going to his girlfriend Tay - god, it felt so weird even saying that! He was actually going out with Tay. How about that.. - he'd barely had time to focus on his other friends, let alone something as stupid as school work.
The common room was deserted. Trent was doing homework, not to be bothered, and Chase was nowhere in sight. Grumpy, Lachlan sulked out of the Hufflepuff Common Room and made his way into the kitchens. In the corner of the room, a familiar blonde haired Hufflepuff stood out liek a sore thumb.
"How dare you come down to the kitchens and not invite me!" Lachlan said, pouting his lower lip as he crashed onto the couch next to Chase, taking a slice of the Pumpkin pie in front of him. "You know how hungry I get..."
He wondered if Chase would be mad at him for not being around as much. He bit his lip in hesitation, before swallowing half the slice of pie in one go.

Chase tucked into his pumkin pie but he wasn't all that impressed with it. He was sick of the damned stuff. He'd eat it, sure, but it wasn't one of his favorites. He hadn't had much of it when he was starting to feel really bored with it.
The door opened but he paid no attention. It was probably a Slytherin or something, and if that was the case, he didn't want anything to do with them. But the voice, when it spoke, was a familiar one.
"How dare you come down to the kitchens and not invite me! You know how hungry I get..."
Chase looked up with a grin. Lachie... "Here I thought you were busy with your girlfriend tonight."
He hadn't seen very much of Lachie lately... He never seemed to be around when Chase was looking for him. Sure he saw him every now and again in the dorm room but... not all that often. He always seemed to be coming in late and dashing out early...
He raised an eyebrow when Lachie all but devoured the pie in one bite. "How can you even eat that stuff?"

Chase had smiled. Well, at least he wasn't too angry with him for being AWOL. Lachlan grinned back sheepishly, unsure of what to say back. Sure, he and Tay had been spending every single waking moment together... and Lachlan had sort of forgotten about his other friends.. Ah, there was no way to spin it to make it sound like anything other than what it was.
"But, food," he said lamely, pointing towards the pie that lay in front of them. He opened his mouth in shock horror. "Pumpkin pie is the best," he said as he swallowed the last half of his slice and promptly took another one between his stubby fingers. "But, whatever, if you don't want it, I'll finish it off," he grinned, almost excited at the prospect of eating a whole pie by himself.
"So what's been going on, honeybunches?" he asked as he licked his fingers, a bite of pie in his mouth. "It's been a while. How's Emily?" he winked.

Chase fought to keep a straight face, but then he rolled his eyes. "You can talk, muggle born. You didn't have pumpkin pie till you started school. I swear my mum used to force-feed me it every day till I was nine."
That was, of course, an exaggeration, but it had always felt that way. His mum had used it as a 'weening' food for both him and his sister, and when he'd been little like that, he hadn't cared about eating pumpkin pie everyday. But then as he got older he got really fed up of it. By time it was Risa's turn to start eating solid foods, Chase was just given the rest of the pie to eat, to save his mum having to make two different meals for them. So, was it really a surprise that he didn't much like the pie anymore?
He watched as Lachie all but stuffed the pie in his mouth and Chase just grinned. This was typical Lachie behavior. If it involved food... Heck! Lachie would probably choose food over sex if he was given the choice! Maybe that was something his new girlfriend ought to know for future reference when she started to be faced with an overly horny Lachie - feed him and thou shall have peace.
"Emily's fine. I think she's missing your company though. Every time she's gone to look for you you've been... otherwise preoccupied." Chase grinned and looked at the pie that was left. Damn it... he was hungry, he just didn't want that.
"So tell me then, who is it that's caught your interests these days? You haven't filled me in on the gossip." Well, he'd heard the rumors and stuff and he'd seen Lachie with some Ravenclaw girl a few times, but he wasn't sure he even knew her name. "And speaking of - what're you love birds getting each other for Christmas?" Which was a thought... what the hell was he going to get Emily?
