Ash woke slowly, confused by the bright glare above him. He had no idea where he was or how he'd got there, and he couldn't even remember falling asleep. The last he could remember was... was... was Ferret!
He remembered Ferret. He remembered her morphing and screaming... he remembered crowds of people... he remembered her running for the window... and remembered screaming and shouting at someone himself and then... and then now. This. Waking up.
He didn't remember anything else of what had happened, just the immense fear and confusion that had overwhelmed him. Forcing his eyes open, Ash looked around and took in his surroundings. Where was this? The hospital wing? It looked like it was the hospital wing but... why was he here? How had he got here?
Ash pushed himself up into a sitting position and took a better look around him. "Hello?"
He winced and brought one hand up to his throat. His throat burned as he tried to speak and he practically no voice left what-so-ever. Maybe talking wasn't a good idea right now... Had he really screamed that much? Some useful friend he was... screaming on the floor while Ferret threw herself out of a window. Why the heck hadn't he got up? Why hadn't he looked to make sure she was okay? Why hadn't he-
Where was Ferret?
He looked around again and searched the beds but he didn't see her anywhere... Ferret!?

Emily was frustrated, horrified, worried, and shocked, all of which were apparently a bad combination of feelings. Her mind was clearly still racing from what she'd witnessed only hours previous. She still couldn't wrap her mind around what Alice had done, the girl had broke down and jumped out of a glass window before plummeting to the ground and to make matters worse the entire crowd that had been jammed into the corridor had not worried about the poor girl, instead had began throwing punches and doing everything that was the opposite of being helpful.
Her heart still ached painfully for Alice, and she began wondering how she was. Had they managed to calm her down, had she been seriously injured? No one would tell her anything other than the girl had been taken to St Mungos where they were going to attempt to help her and get to the bottom of her melt down.
In the mean time, Emily found herself sitting in the hospital wing for the second time that day, though this wasn't just a drop in for a headache potion, no, thanks to those idiots who had begun fighting she'd gotten herself a deep gash across her forearm after having attempted to stand, only to have been knocked back toward the window where she'd caught her arm on some of the shards still hanging on there. It was a simple thing to heal, the only downside was it took a while.
Sat on the edge of the hospital bed, Emily looked up in time to see a boy she knew as Ashton, a Ravenclaw student waking up, the look of confusion clear on his face. "Hello." she said to him in response, as she pushed herself up from the bed, holding her injured arm to her side she padded over to his bed. Grabbing the small glass of water from his bedside cabinet were it sat next to a jug, "Here drink this..." she told him softly, holding out the glass.

Someone responded to him when he spoke, so despite his painful and terrible croaky throat and voice, he'd still been heard. It was then though, that Ash remembered Ferret and started looking around quite frantically for her, and he ended up paying no attention to who had spoken.
Where was Ferret? Why wasn't she here? Why wasn't she in one of the beds further down the line? Or was she and he just couldn't see her? But she wasn't there!
A figure moved next to him and the next thing he knew there was a glass of water held out towards him. He pushed it away and tried to look past the girl. "Fe-Ferret?" He croaked. "Where's Ferret?"

Emily sighed quietly and moved to stand back in front of Ash's line of sight, not offended by his pushing her away, "Ash, drink this." she said firmly, "Ferret's been taken to St Mungo's...they'll help her." she said surely, she knew Ash and Alice were close so obviously he was worried, all of them where, but as of right now they had to take comfort in the only little bit of information they'd been given by the Professor's.
Holding the glass out once more she smiled softly, though it didn't even reach her eyes. Her eyes drifted across to the doors as he mind began racing, what the hell was happening at St Mungo's? She hoped her friend was okay, she hated being clueless, "I'm as clueless as you right now sweetie, I think Remus has gone the hospital, we'll just have to wait till he returns, find out exactly how Alice is doing." she said, sitting down on the edge of his bed. They weren't close but she knew him enough to feel comfortable around him.

((No one was allowed to visit her for 2 weeks I don't think, so he wouldn't have been there.)) He looked up sharply. "Mungo's? Why the heck Mungo's? Couldn't she stay here?"
Ash reluctantly took the drink from Emily and took a sip. His throat burned and every word he spoke was made harder and harder by the pain. It was as if his throat had been torn raw or something. The amount he'd been screaming though, that was probably a high possibility.
"Ferret, damn it. Her name is Ferret!" Ash didn't mean to snap but... this whole thing that had happened today was really getting to him. She'd been screaming and shouting that her name was Ferret, and to her, it was. She never went by Alice. Alice was just another name lost in the haze that had caused this damn mess...
Ash groaned and flopped back against his pillow, flinging one arm over his face and covering his eyes. "This can't be happening... tell me it's just all an awful dream..."

((OOC: Okay I was just going by something said in the breakdown thread)) Emily smiled softly, satisfied when Ash finally accepted the drink she had held out to him, and took a sip. Her fingers idly played with the bandage around her arm as she sighed. "We just have to...." whatever she had been about to say was cut short when Ash snapped at her for using Al...Ferret's actual name. Frowning she stood from the bed, "Well she's always been Alice to me...I've never called her Ferret and she's never minded..." she said, moving to sit on the bed she'd just been occupying herself.
What had happened today was getting to her as much as it was him, she had shared a room with Alice for 5 years, been her friend for the same amount of time. She was just as worried about her, and didn't appreciate being snapped at, regardless of the situation. She'd had enough thrown at her today, at one point even followed Alice out the window thanks to some idiots who'd been fighting.
"This can't be happening... tell me it's just all an awful dream..."
Emily looked up from her arm, back across to the bed beside hers where Ash lay. "It's no dream...and your not going to do Al...Ferret any good by making yourself sick over this. She's going to need her friends strong and being supportive," she said as gently as she could. In no way was she having a go, she just knew there were more important things going on, "Madam Pomfrey promised not to be long, she'll be back through to check on you in a bit and hopefully authorize me getting out of here as well..."

Ash closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He shouldn't have snapped like that but he was still feeling really on edge after everything that had just happened. He just didn't know how to get his head around it all...
He buried his head in his hands. If only he could just... close his eyes, go to sleep... And when he woke up this could all be a distant dream... but he had been asleep, hadn't he? And this was still happening... Ferret... She'd jumped out of a window... And he'd done nothing to help her...
Ash wasn't even listening as Emily spoke. He should have been, but he couldn't. That one thing was stuck in his head. He should have helped... he didn't. Wasn't it James Potter or someone who'd tried to help her? Ash had been closer and all he'd done was land himself here. He tried to wipe away a stray tear before the Gryffindor saw it.
"What's to check on?" Ash sighed, not looking in her direction. He was staring at the wall across the room, knees pulled to his chest and his head resting on them. He wanted to get out of here, though he didn't know where he'd go. Not back to his dorm. Not yet. He didn't really want to face people. Maybe the first floor, just to see what was left of the chaos that had ensued before...
"F*ck it."
In a flash decision, Ash pushed from the bed, wobbling unsteadily for a minute until he got the grasp of things - god... you'd think he hadn't walked for a week or something...
The cup was still half full with water and Ash managed to finish it off before dumping it back on the table. All he wanted to do was get out of here, and he wasn't waiting around for Madam Pomfrey to get back. That bad always made him stay here longer than he had to.

Emily bristled and stuck again, stretching out her muscles again. Pomfrey had insisted she just stay for a bit until she was ready to leave, and she was more than ready not Ash was awake. She could understand why he was upset but she was as well, Alice was her friend, she'd been just as close to the girl and hadn't been able to stop her from jumping, but she wasn't going to sit her and feel guilty or be snapped at. Chase would be looking for her, so she figured she'd go find her boy-friend, she could use one of his cuddles. They always had a way of chasing away the badness of the day.
"Madame Pomfrey just wanted to check you were okay is all, it's her job." she said with a shrug of her shoulders moving away from the bed, "Anyway I'm off...take care of yourself Ash and I know it's hard but don't worry about Alice." she said, using the girls real name. It's what she always called her, she wasn't going to change now some guy lost his temper with her. Smiling slightly she gave him a small wave and made her way towards the doors to leave.
Before she made it though three things happened, madame pomfrey walked in, Ash swore and when she turned around he was standing up. Madame Pomfrey began bustling over to him and Emily smiled softly. It looked like he'd be okay, the Nurse would see to that and probably let him go now. So turning on her heel she left the hospital wing, glad to be getting far away from it.
