Death In The Family!

Okay, so... Chase's dad is a professional Quidditch Player. He plays for the Wimbourne Wasps and has for many years. He might not be the most famous of players, but he'd pretty damn well known. Very soon, Death Eaters are going to take Rio Connors out of the picture as he kicks the bucket well before his time.

That's not the worst of it. The attack happens at night and it makes front page news the next morning. This picture will be flashes across the headlines of the Daily Prophet when all the owls fly in with the mail at breakfast:

Because of the timing, no one has the chance to get to Chase and break the news to him, so he finds out in exactly the same way as everyone else does - via the morning paper. Sucks for him, right?

My idea, thus far, was that it starts off a normal breakfast, and then the owls start to arrive, and he finds himself getting a few strange looks and stares and stuff and people seem to be whispering a lot, but no one says anything directly to him.

Then someone on the Hufflepuff table near him gets the Prophet and he grabs it to take a look. He wont see much more than the headline and the picture - maybe read the first line or two.

Basically, he'll be in mega denial. He won't want to believe for a second that it's true and all he'll want is to get the hell out of the great hall and away from everybody as quickly as he can.

Point is though, he finds out in a hall full of students, and who are the students, but all of YOU!

• He MUST find out by looking at the prophet, not by someone saying something to him
  
• He wont react well to any body who tries to speak to him
  
• He'll pretty much withdraw away from everyone for a while friend or not
  

So... ideas, anyone?

Yesssss! And probably try and convince him not to dash out of the hall and make a huge scene or something? I dunno XD

Well I think Emily's reaction will be obvious. She'd be horrified to learn what had happened to Rio and very upset, she'd gotten to know him over the Christmas holiday's and despite their....first impressions, she really liked him. So she'll obviously be upset over his death and devastated for Chase.

I can see her getting up and making her way over to the Hufflepuff table...probably just in time for Chase to run out. Despite knowing he'd need time to himself though she's going to want to see him...but will hold back...

What do you think we can do here?

Bella will be more than willing to be there and watch for his reaction and then mock him about it at a later date! Really rub salt in the open wound. Could even set off some pretty sparks to mark the occasion. Make it really, really memorable for absolutely everyone. Might even get up on the table for a little dancey. Is Rio muggle born, half blood or pure blooded?

As for Dorcas she'll be there too, more of a witness to it all more than anything.

So unless you need either of them, they'll be the witness sort!
